Once and future ambassadors

Richfield ambassadors ShayLee Bartelle, Erin Johnes, Mara LeBlanc and Baza Haile-SelassieCurrent Richfield Ambassadors Erin Jones, Mara LeBlanc, ShayLee Bartelle and Baza Haile-Selassie were recognized by the city Tuesday night; 33 ambassador candidates also were recognized.

 The Richfield City Council chambers were jammed with photographers, parents and potential Richfield ambassadors Tuesday night, April 12, as 33 candidates were introduced and the five current ambassadors were recognized.

Five of the candidates will be chosen to represent Richfield and travel the state to promote the city's Hometown Fourth of July Celebration, extending a 27-year tradition.

At the end of their reign, three ambassadors will receive an academic scholarship to aid in higher educational goals and the two junior ambassadors will receive savings bonds.

Almost all of the 33 Richfield ambassador and junior ambassador candidates attended Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Current ambassadors ShayLee Bartelle, Erin Johnes, Mara LeBlanc and Baza Haile-Selassie were also on hand. Ambassador Virginia Sanchez was not able to attend.
