Sarah Hummel, who initiated the Music from the Porch series and expanded educational and entertainment events during her two-plus years as the part-time director the Richfield Historical Society, is leaving to spend more time with her family.

She said in an interview Monday, Dec. 6, that she'll stay home full time to take care of her young son and a baby due next year.

The Historical Society is advertising the director's position nationally. The position will remain part time. The posting says the board of directors will give preference to applications received before Dec. 15.

"I have enjoyed enjoyed so many aspects of my work for the Society," she wrote in the society's quarterly newsletter mailed this week, "but particularly it has been a joy to meet and work with the people of Richfield, who have an amazing pride in their community. I want to thank you for sharing your stories with me."
