The Richfield City Council on Tuesday night approved the sale of a small strip of land along Lyndale Avenue South that should allow a developer to start work on the old Kmart store site later this month.
The parcel, which the city will sell to Wellington Management for $1,000 but, as part of the sale agreement, the city will have use of it for right of way.
The company should be able to begin redevelopment of the site, including the construction of an L.A. Fitness Center, as soon as the sale is made final, councilmembers were told.
