Police reports before Dec. 31, 2011


Smash and grab - A thief smashed the passenger-side window of a 2012 Mercedes parked outside Kahn's Mongolian Barbeque, 500 78th St. E., the evening of Dec. 23 and stole a $600 purse, a $300 wallet, $1,500 in $100 bills, a checkbook and credit cards belonging to a 21-year-old Shakopee woman. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case.
Employee theft - Police expect to charge an employee of SuperAmerica, 826 66th St. W., with felony theft for stealing more than $2,000 from the business. The company's district manager filed the theft report last last week.
Boyfriend arrested- A 28-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault just after 10 p.m. Christmas Eve after his 23-year-old girlfriend told police he tried to strangle her during an argument at his apartment in the 6900 block of Penn Avenue South.
Home burglarized- A burglar who kicked in an apartment door in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South on Dec. 23 got away with jewelry valued at $1,800, according to a police report.
Woman arrested - Police arrested a 55-year-old "out of control intoxicated female" about 11 p.m. Christmas Eve after she pushed and slapped people in her house in the 2800 block of 72nd Street West. The woman was taken to the Hennepin County jail for misdemeanor domestic assault.
Ex-boyfriend arrested - A 37-year-old New Hope man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 18 after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home in the 7300 block of Nicollet Avenue South. The man was jailed on a burglary charge.
Minivan stolen - A woman who had left her 2007 Hundai minivan running in her driveway in the 6800 block of Portland Avenue South "for five minutes" Tuesday evening came out to find the vehicle had been stolen.
Domestic assault- A 32-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault Monday afternoon after an argument with his 33-year-old girlfriend at their apartment in the 600 block of 78th Street East turned violent. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Jewelry stolen- A Richfield woman called police Tuesday morning to report that more than $7,000 in jewelry and other items had been stolen from her residence in the 6700 block of 10th Avenue South.
Shoplifters caught - A 20-year-old Minnetonka woman and a 25-year-old Minneapolis man were arrested just after 10 p.m. Dec. 16 trying to steal more than $1,000 worth of art supplies from Michaels, 66 66th St. W. Police saw the man running to the couple's vehicle in the store parking lot carring two containers of paint, brushes and other supplies. The woman was also arrested for methamphetmine possession.
Truck stolen - A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck valued at $1,200 was stolen in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South sometime Dec. 16.
Angry roommate? - A Richfield woman told police she thinks a roommate she asked to move out smashed her apartment window Dec. 17 and stole her $350 TV set and $20 DVD player. She lives in the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Unwanted visitor- A Richfield 10th grader was cited for trespassing and underage smoking the afternoon of Dec. 16 at the Richfield Middle School, where he was trying to see an ex-girlfriend who doesn't want to see him any more, according to a police report.
Obstruction arrests - Four people, including one who kicked an officer in the face, were arrested and taken to jail after police pulled a car over early last weekend for seatbelt violations. The driver of the car, a 27-year-old Minneapolis woman, was charged later with driving under the influence. The others, two men and a woman who were passengers in the car, were arrested for obstruction and disorderly conduct after they argued with officers about the first woman's arrest. The incident took place in the 6400 block of Fourth Avenue South about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 11.
Target shoplifter - A 30-year-old Coon Rapids woman was arrested the afternoon of Dec. 14 after walking out of the Richfield Target Store, 6445 Richfield Parkway, with more than $900 worth of digital movies and games. The woman hid the items under coats in the bottom of her shopping basket, paid for groceries and stopped for a cup of coffee before being stopped outside the store.
Domestic assault - An argument between a boyfriend and a girlfriend just after midnight Dec. 12 in their Penn Avenue apartment resulted in the arrest of the 44-year-old woman. The man, 42, was cut above his left eye when he fell onto a glass table.
Man assaulted- A 20-year-old Minneapolis man was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 14 after two or three men jumped him in the 7200 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The man, who suffered facial injuries after he was punched and kicked, told police he did not recognize his attackers.
Nephew arrested - A 25-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested the afternoon of Dec. 12 after he refused to leave his uncle's apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. After asking the man to leave several times, police handcuffed him and escorted him from the building.
Man stabbed - A 27-year-old Richfield man had to be taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital for stitches the night of Nov. 8 after being stabbed in the face by another man during an argument. A 44-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to jail. The fight occured at the first man's apartment building in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South.
Restaurant burglarized - Thieves broke in a window at the Leeann Chin restaurant, 6420 Nicollet Ave. S., overnight Dec. 3 and stole a $1,000 safe and about $1,200 in receipts. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case.
Father arrested - A 52-year-old Richfield man was arrested the evening of Dec. 8 for domestic assault after horseplay with his 12-year-old son turned violent. According to police, the man grabbed the boy by the throat, leaving red marks on his neck. The incident occurred at a home in the 7600 block of Bloomington Avenue South.
Instruments missing- A $400 xylophone and a $400 drum set turned up missing after the Richfield Symphonic Band moved equipment out of a building at 7601 Pleasant Ave. S. owned by the city of Richfield. The instruments disappeared sometime between Oct. 18 and Nov. 18.
Snowblower stolen - A snowblower valued at between $500 and $700 was stolen Dec. 6 from an unlocked garage in the 7000 block of Newton Avenue South.
Woman raped - A 23-year-old Minneapolis woman was raped at the Richfield group home where she works the night of Dec. 2. Police said she knew her assailant. No arrests have been made in the case.
Men assaulted - Police chased but failed to apprehend a man who argued with two older men, hit one of them in the head and them pulled a knife in a parking lot at 66th and Nicollet just before noon Dec. 1. The victims, 47 and 48, are from White Bear Lake and Becker, respectively.
Husband arrested - A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail about 10 p.m. on Dec. 1 after throwing his wife onto a bed during an argument in their apartment in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South. The 34-year-old woman did not require medical attention.
Domestic assault- A 57-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested in his home after punching a 55-year-old Richfield woman in the face just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 1. The woman was taken from her home in the 6400 block of Pleasant Avenue South to Fairview South Hospital.
House burglarized - Burglars stole items valued at $9,500 from a house in the 6400 block of Humboldt Avenue South on Nov. 29 after the homeowner apparently left a back door unlocked. A laptop, jewelry and designer sunglasses were among the valuables taken.
Hurt herself - A 19-year-old Richfield woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center just before midnight Nov. 30 after she assaulted and terrorized five other people who live at the same address in the 6700 block of 14th Avenue South. The woman hit her head on a floor during the incident and required medical treatment. Charges are pending.
Teen robbed - A 16-year-old Richfield teen was struck in the head and robbed of his cell phone the evening of Nov. 30 behind an apartment building in the 800 block of 65th Street West. Another Richfield teenager is a suspect in the case. The victim did not require medical treatment.
Cabbie stiffed- A 31-year-old Richfield man who said he didn't have $27.80 for cab fare the morning of Nov. 28 found himself in even more trouble when officers arrived to find him in possession of stolen property. Police have already started returning the stolen items, including a GPS unit, credit cards and checks and an XM radio. The incident occurred at 72nd and 18th Avenue South.
Black Friday- Christmas gifts valued at more than $1,300 were stolen from a car parked at Best Buy, 1000 78th St. W., about 4 a.m. Nov. 25. The thief broke two windows out of a 2002 Saab owned by a 55-year-old Minneapolis woman to steal the packages, which had been purchased earlier that morning at WalMart. The car sustained about $500 damage.
Burglar chased- A Richfield man who keeps a hockey stick under his bed used it to hit and chase a burglar out of his house just before 3 a.m. Nov. 25. The man heard noises in his house in the 7300 block of Fremont Avenue South and went downstairs to discover the burglar, who had kicked in a door to get into the home. Nothing was reported missing.
Woman raped - A 22-year-old Richfield woman was raped in her apartment about 10 p.m. on Nov. 21 after she opened her door to a man she knew. The man fled before police arrived at the building in the 900 block of 77th Street East.
Money stolen- A key lost three weeks ago may have been the way a thief got into an apartment sometime during the day Nov. 20 to steal $7,600 in cash. The apartment in the 400 block of 73rd Street East was locked, and there was no sign of forced entry.
Heroin overdose - A 54-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital about 11 a.m. Nov. 17 after police were called to their home in the 7300 block of Fifth Avenue South on a drug overdose. Officers found the woman semi-conscious in a chair and sent both to the hospital for treatment.
Assault arrest- An argument over a Richfield man's dangerous driving in the parking lot of the TCF Bank branch at Cedar Point Commons the evening of Nov. 18 lead to the man's arrest for aggravated assault. The man apparently took offense when a woman in the lot criticized his driving. The two argued, and the confrontation escalated into a shoving match when two other men intervened. The man, 37, who also made a disparing racial remark during the argument, was arrested later at his home.
Gun stolen - A 9mm Springfield Armory 9mm handgun was stolen from a gun safe at Hub Hobby, 6410 Penn Ave. S., sometime between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17. The gun is valued at $500.
Laundry room theft - A thief turned over washing machines to remove their change dispensers in a building in the 7200 block of Portland Avenue South overnight Nov. 18. About $200 was taken. Damage to the machines was estimated at $500.
Taxi stolen- A 21-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested about 2 a.m. Monday morning after she stole a taxi. The woman was a passenger in the cab when the driver stopped to take her intoxicated fellow passenger into his house in the 600 block of 77th Street East. Police searching for the taxi found her in the driver's seat when they spotted the cab parked near 66th and Nicollet.
Woman strangled- A 26-year-old Crystal man was jailed after he attempted to strangle his 31-year-old girlfriend about 12:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Richfield police responded to six other domestic assaults between Nov. 14 and 16 resulting in three other arrests.
Backyard theft - A large commercial lawn mower, snow thrower, leaf blowers and a lawn edger were taken from the backyard of a house in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South in the early morning hours of Nov. 15. The loss was estimated at $5,650.
Tools taken - A thief or thieves stole $1,000 of Makita power tools and $100 worth of hand tools from the bed of a pickup truck parked in the 6900 block of Washburn sometime before 10 a.m. on Nov. 15.
Businesses burglarized- Three businesses in the 6600 block of Penn Avenue South were broken into overnight Nov. 10. Thieves got away with about $3,600 worth of computers, software and other electronics and did $1,900 damage to the businesses: Hearing and Balance Specialists, Southwest Back and Neck Clinic and Scissors Salon. The burglars broke down back doors to enter the businesses and disconnected and damaged a surveillance system.
Domestic assault - Police are looking for the ex-boyfriend of a 27-year-old Richfield woman whose face was beaten so badly she had to be hospitalized. The assault occurred the afternoon of Nov. 11 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South.
Student victimized - A 16-year-old Richfield High School student told police Nov. 10 that his $490 cell phone and $399 iPod were stolen on different occasions from the wrestling room at the high school.
Shoplifters arrested - A 45-year-old South Minneapolis man was arrested just after 1 p.m. Nov. 10 after stealing work boots valued at $55 from Payless Shoes, 4 66th St. Police said the same man attempted to take a CD/M/FM radio from another nearby store earlier in the afternoon. Also arrested Nov. 10 was a 23-year-old Uptown man who attempted to shoplift $15 in items from Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. He was jailed on an outstanding felony warrant.
Cars ransacked - Police are investigating seven more incidents involving thieves who enter unlocked vehicles and ransack them, usually looking to steal GPS units and cash. Monday and Tuesday, the reports came from car owners in the 6900 blocks of 14th and 18th avenues south, in the 7400 block of Lyndale and the 7300 block of Aldrich.
Domestic assaults - A 22-year-old RIchfield man was arrested for kidnapping or false imprisonment after a domestic assault at his apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South on Nov. 6. In another incident, a 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South after a domestic assault involving his stepson.
Stolen vehicle - A 20-year-old St. Paul woman was arrested and jailed after police spotted her in a stolen vehicle in the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue South just before midnight on Nov. 8.
Window damaged - About $1,500 of damage was done when someone shot a BB-gun and hit the front window of a house in the 6800 block of Lyndale Avenue South about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8.
Teen mugged - Two men jumped a 17-year-old Richfield boy as he was walking in the 6500 block of Oliver Avenue South about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and stole his $200 cell phone and wallet. The teen was punched in the head during the attack but didn't require medical attention.
Home burglarized - A burglar or burglars took electronics, watches and cash valued at $10,000 after walking into a home in the 6900 block of 17th Avenue South sometime Thursday. Police found no signs of forced entry.
Girlfriend strangled - A 33-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed Saturday morning about 6 a.m. after he attempted to strangle his 32-year-old girlfriend in their apartment in the 1300 block of 78th Street East. The woman had red marks around her throat but didn't require medical attention.
Indecent exposure - A 64-year-old Bloomington man was arrested about 7 p.m. Friday after he exposed himself in the Arc's Value Village store, 6528 Penn Ave. S.
Boyfriend stabbed - A 27-year-old Richfield man was hospitalized Wednesday night after his 32-year-old girlfriend stabbed him in the stomach during an argument. Police recovered a bloody knife from a sink in the couple's apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South and took the woman to jail. Police said the man's wounds were not life-threatening.
Apartment burglarized - About $800 cash, a $500 gold necklace and a camera valued at $180 were stolen overnight Oct. 31 from an apartment in the 700 block of 78th Street East.
Car stolen - A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South sometime after midnight Nov. 1. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Car recovered - A 1997 Honda stolen overnight Oct. 30 from the 700 block of 77th Street East was recovered a day later in Minneapolis.
Man arrested- A 27-year-old Savage man was arrested for domestic assault after he grabbed his 20-year-old girlfriend about 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 31 at Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S. The woman was not injured, according to police.
Girlfriend arrested - An 18-year-old Richfield woman was jailed the evening of Oct. 31 after she scratched her 20-year-old boyfriend and punched him in the face during an argument in an apartment in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue South.
House burglarized- A burglar got away with $7,000 in cash, $2,900 in jewelry and a $100 iPod after he broke into a house in the 7400 block of Fifth Avenue South on Oct. 28. The man kicked in a garage door to gain entry. He fled when the owner came home about 11:30 a.m.
Woman raped - A 38-year-old Minneapolis woman was sexually assaulted early Oct. 29 after she accepted a ride from a man with whom she had been partying. She called police from Hennepin County Medical Center reporting that she and a man she only knew as Tre were on their way to a motel in a van when he stopped near 69th and Portland and raped her.
Boyfriend arrested - Police following up on a 911 hang-up call just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 29 arrested a 34-year-old Richfield man at his apartment in the 7100 block of 17th Avenue South for domestic assault. The man is accused of banging his 31-year-old girlfriend's head on a table.
Car stolen- Police are looking for a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo stolen overnight Oct. 27 from a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The car is valued at $900.
Kicked out - A 23-year-old Richfield man was taked to the Hennepin County jail and released after a police officer watched him use a bucket to smash a window at Frenchman's Bar, 1400 E. 66th St., about 2 a.m. Oct. 28. The man had been kicked out of the bar for causing trouble.
Sex offender - Formal charges will be filed against a 21-year-old Richfield sex offender who failed to report his address to authorities. He lives in the 7200 block of Oliver Avenue South.
Prowlers caught- Two 15-year-old Minneapolis boys were arrested about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 near 68th and Columbus after neighbors called police to report teens breaking into cars. Officers dispatched to the scene caught the pair, then released them to their parents pending formal charges.
Teen beaten - A 19-year-old Richfield man underwent surgery for a broken jaw at Hennepin County Medical Center after a group of teenagers attacked him about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 near the Buena Vista apartments on East 78th Street. No arrests have been made, but police do have suspects in the case.
Man robbed - A cell phone and $500 cash were taken from a 21-year-old Florida man who was assaulted by a group of acquaintances, also from Florida, the morning of Oct. 23 at Candlewood Suites, 351 West 77th Street. The victim told police his assailants also did $450 damage to his laptop computer.
Garage damaged - A 30-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 after he and two accomplices did about $1,000 damage to a new garage door in the 6700 block of Garfield Avenue South.
Parts stolen - The owner of Andon Balloons, 6418 Penn Ave. S., reported the catalytic converters were stolen out of two business vehicles sometime during the night of Oct. 25. Replacing the parts will cost $1,000.
Road rage- A 38-year-old Pontiac, Mich., driver was cited for disorderly conduct during the morning rush hour Oct. 20 after he yelled at another driver and threw a water bottle at her while driving on I-494 near Nicollet Avenue. According to police, the man became upset when the 31-year-old woman from Inver Grove Heights pulled in front of the him on the freeway.
Drive-by shooting - Police are looking for a white '90s Ford Explorer involved in a drive-by shooting near 16th Avenue and Diagonal Boulevard just before midnight Oct. 22. The shooting caused $600 damage to the windows of two parked minivans.
Vehicle vandalism - Six more cars and trucks were damaged over the weekend by vandals who broke into the vehicles or found them unlocked. Four of the six incidents occurred between 12th and 16th avenues and 72nd and 76th streets in east Richfield.
Financial fraud - A woman posing as a Western Union employee apparently scammed the owner of the One-Stop Mail Shop to the tune of $5,000 on Oct. 21. When he became suspicious, the owner called Western Union's fraud department, which was able to stop another $5,000 of additional illigitmate transfers to someone in California.
Pizza man robbed- Two men robbed an American Pie pizza delivery man just before 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South, where the 22-year-old Minnetonka man was trying to make a delivery. The robbers took a small amount of money and the pizza bag and then fled. No weapon was used. The delivery man was not injured.
Daughter arrested - A 35-year-old Richfield woman was arrested for aggravated assault about 9:40 p.m. Oct. 19 after threatening her 58-year-old mother with a kitchen knife during an argument. No injuries were reported as a result of the fight, which occurred in the 600 block of 77th Street East.
Acquaintance rape - Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Oct. 8 at a residence near Emerson Avenue South and 66th Street. The victim, a 31-year-old Richfield woman, reported the rape on Oct. 17.
Car stolen - A 32-year-old Richfield man reported his 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South sometime the night of Oct. 18.
House burglarized - A thief or thieves apparently walked into a house in the 7600 block of Park Avenue South the night of Oct. 15 and stole three iPods valued at $650 and a set of keys. The victim told police she left a side door unlocked for her daughter when she went to bed Saturday night. The daughter came home about 2 a.m., and the music players and keys were discovered missing at 10:30 the next morning.
Handgun stolen - A Smith & Wesson 9mm compact pistol and its holster valued at $569 were stolen overnight Friday from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7500 block of 11th Avenue South. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case.
Car stolen- Police are looking for a 1999 Honda Civic stolen the afternoon of Oct. 13 from a parking lot in the 1000 block of 77th Street East. The car is valued at $3,000.
Vehicle break-in - Items valued at $900, including a netbook laptop computer, pocket change and a library book, were stolen from the trunk of a car parked in a lot in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South overnight Oct. 12.
Student assaulted - An argument on a school bus between two teens the afternoon of Oct. 14 escalated into a fight involving four people. One of the teens, his brother and another juvenile assaulted the other teen as he got off the bus near 75th Street East and 12th Avenue South. The second teen suffered minor injuries in the fight but did not require medical attention.
Money drop stolen - Managers at Leeann Chin, 6420 Nicollet Ave. S., reported that $742 in receipts were stolen from the restaurant's money drop after the close of business Oct. 5. Police do have a suspect in the case.
Three cited- Police caught three people breaking into cars in the 7700 block of Wentworth Avenue South about 5 a.m. Saturday. An 18-year-old Richfield man and two juvenile boys were cited for criminal damage to property and released.
Vehicle break-in- Items valued at $1,425, including cash, a GPS unit and golf equipment, were stolen overnight Oct. 7 from an unlocked car parked in an alley driveway in the 6600 block of Russell Avenue South.
Student assaulted - A 15-year-old Richfield Senior High School student told police an 18- or 19-year-old man punched him in the head as he walked home from school the afternoon of Oct. 7. The incident occurred at the corner of Second Avenue South and 70th Street East. The boy declined medical attention.
Smash and grab - Thieves smashed out the window of a 2007 Honda parked in the 1700 block of 78th Street West about 9:30 p.m. the night of Oct. 7 and stole an Ankeny, Iowa, woman's purse. Inside were a checkbook, wallet, cell phone and credit cards. About $400 damage was done to the car. The value of the items stolen was $750, and the thieves used the credit card to purchase items worth $200.
Apartment burglarized - Residents of an apartment in the 800 block of 65th Street West returned home the afternoon of Oct. 7 to find items valued at almost $2,000 missing but their apartment door undamaged and locked. Taken were a 40-inch television, a laptop computer, a Nintendo Wii game and a Playstation tablet.
Guns stolen- Four antique military rifles valued at $4,600 turned up missing in a recent inventory at VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lake Short Drive. Three World War II-era weapons--two .30-caliber rifles and a 30.06 rifle--and a 1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle were stolen, according to post officials. They did not know when the guns went missing.
Motel 6 assault- A 42-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested at Motel 6 in Richfield about 5:30 a.m. Oct. 2 after his 39-year-old girlfriend called police to say he'd punched her in the face. She declined medical attention.
Boyfriend arrested - A 22-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assualt in his Cedar Avenue South apartment about 5 p.m. Oct. 4 after police responded to a 911-hangup call. He and his 22-year-old girlfriend were fighting, according to police.
Woman assaulted - A 21-year-old Richfield woman told police three women who apparently followed her home from a nightclub assaulted her when she pulled into a parking lot in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South early the morning of Oct. 3.
Boyfriend arrested- A 45-year-old Richfield man who got into an argument with his girlfriend and another woman the afternoon of Oct. 1 was arrested for assault and jailed. The altercation took place at the girlfriend's apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South.
Vehical vandalized- About $700 in damage was done to a vehicle parked in the Carl Berg Radiator shop parking lot, 1310 66th St. E., Sept. 30 when someone slashed two of its tires and threw a cinder block that broke both the driver- and passenger-side windows.
Domestic assault - A 40-year-old Richfield woman was not physically hurt the afternoon of Sept. 30 when her ex-boyfriend kicked in her apartment door, pushed her and stole a $400 computer, a $50 cell phone and her keys. He was gone when police arrived at the woman's apartment in the 6300 block of Dupont Avenue South.
Arguing with police - Police responding to a domestic assault took a 28-year-old Richfield man to jail about 5 p.m. Sept. 30 after he refused to let them into his apartment and became argumentative. He was arrested for obstruction of justice. No domestic assault occurred, according to the police report.
Drug bust- A man and a woman from south Minneapolis were arrested late Wednesday night for possession of drugs after police spotted them smoking marijuana in a car. The arrest in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South netted amphetamines, several types of pharmaceuticals used to make methamphetamine and a substantial amount of marijuana.
More car thefts- Police received seven more reports of thefts from vehicles this week, most of them from cars or trucks that were left unlocked. Stereos, cash, iPods and other articles were taken from vehicles parked outside residences on Bloomington, Cedar, Elliot, Lyndale and 10th avenues.
Domestic assaults - A 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested the night of Sept. 25 after kicking a 30-year-old woman in his apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South and threatening officers who responded to her 911 call. Later that same night, a 32-year-old man was arrested in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South after assaulting his 24-year-old wife.
Arguing neighbors - A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail late Wednesday night after he tried to force his way into a neighbor's apartment with a knife in his hand. The two men had been arguing, according to a police report.
Put it back - Police are looking for a man about 50-years-old who walked into reception area of Complete Chiropractic and Wellness, 6640 Lyndale Ave. S., the evening of Sept. 26, took money from a petty cash drawer and then put it back when an employee asked him what he was doing. The man then walked out of the office.
Roommate arrested - A 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested Thursday for aggravated assault and several other charges after threatening to kill his housemate. Police said the man was holding a hammer and a knife when he threatened the life of the victim, a 62-year-old woman, the morning of Sept. 22 at an apartment in the 900 block of Rae Drive.
Pharmaceuticals stolen- A Target employee is suspected of stealing about $2,700 worth of hydrocodone pills from the Richfield store's pharmacy, according to a report filed Sept. 23
Bedroom burglary - A 24-year-old Richfield woman told police she woke up shortly before midnight Sept. 22 to discover she'd been undressed and an intruder was laying on top of her. Police have a suspect, but no arrests have been made in the case.
Thefts from vehicles - Police are investigating 11 reports of cars being ransacked in Richfield Monday and Tuesday night. The vehicles were unlocked in most of the cases. Small amounts of money and other items were taken. Seven of the reports came from the 7300 and 7400 blocks of Colfax, Dupont and Fremont, the rest from addresses on Second Avenue South between the Crosstown and 71st Street and the 7100 block of Third Avenue South.
Deposit stolen - A man grabbed a deposit bag from a woman making a night deposit at Wells Fargo Bank, 6445 Nicollet Ave. S., the night of Sept. 19 and fled on foot with about $3,000 cash belonging to the Dollar Tree store.
Business burglarized - A burglar or burglars broke into the new Andale Taquiria Mercado at 77th and Nicollet overnight Sept. 18, dumped out three cash registers and got away with $900 cash.
Three arrested - Two men and a woman were arrested the afternoon of Sept. 20 after they approached a 36-year-old Richfield man in a parking lot, then stole his backpack containing a laptop, cell phone and other items valued at more than $1,500. Police located the three in a Richfield house after responding to a call from the victim and arrested a 21-year-old West St. Paul man, an 18-year-old St. Paul man and an 18-year-old Richfield woman. The theft occurred in the 300 block of 65th Street West.
Soliciting sex - The mother of a teenage Richfield boy called police to report a man had solicited her son and two other boys in their early teens for sex the night of Sept. 18. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of 78th Street East. Police have a suspect, but no arrests were made.
Teens fighting - Poice arrested one 17-year-old boy and detained several other juveniles after breaking up a fight involving a large number of teens about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the McDonald's parking lot on Lyndale Avenue South. The 17-year-old, who was cited for fleeing police officers, was released to his mother.
Van stolen - While making a DWI arrest Sept. 16, St. Paul police recovered a 2001 Chevy Express van stolen earlier from the 7400 block of 18th Avenue South. The vehicle is owned by JJ's Outdoor Services of Edina.
Business burglarized - A burglar got away with boxes and a cash register but no cash after a breaking a window and entering the Chipotle restaurant, 1830 66th St. E., about 5 a.m. Sept. 16.
Dad punched - A 19-year-old Richfield man was arrested for making threats involving a gun after an altercation in the 6200 block of 12th Avenue South late Saturday night, Sept. 17. The man is also accused of punching a 59-year-old man in the nose during an argument involving the man's daughter.
Champp's arrest - An argument between several patrons and a Richfield Champps bartender the night of Sept. 17 resulted in the arrest of one of the patrons, a 20-year-old Richfield man, for making terroristic threats.
Seller swindled - A Richfield man who thought he'd sold his 2003 Ford Taurus for $5,700 on Craig's List found out, instead, that he'd been cheated when the buyer's check turned out to be a fake. Police are calling the incident, which was reported Sept. 14, a car theft.
Husband arrested - A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed for misdemeanor domestic assault just before midnight Sept. 14 in the 6800 block of Columbus Avenue South. He is accused of dragging his 40-year-old wife to the floor and kicking her repeatedly until the couple's children called 911.
Home burglarized - Police are investigating a burglary at an apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South where television sets, watches and other items valued at $4,800 were taken sometime before the morning of Sept. 14. The victim told police the thieves also took a 1996 Chrysler Sebring from his garage.
Laptop pinched - An instructor at Adler Graduate School, 1550 78th St. E., reported that a $1,200 laptop computer was stolen from his classroom the afternoon of Sept. 11.
Van stolen - Employees at Progress Valley, 398 78th St. E., reported the program's 1999 Dodge Caravan was stolen from its parking lot the night of Sept. 11.
Man stabbed - A 21-year-old Richfield man was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital early the morning of Sept. 8 after being stabbed by a man who asked him for a ride. When the man refused the request, the assailant pulled a knife and stabbed him in the left side, then fled the scene. The incident occurred about 3:20 a.m. in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Tools stolen - Equipment used to find underground cabling was stolen from a work truck parked in a driveway in the 6700 block of Chicago Avenue South on Sept. 9. The tools are valued at more than $3,000.
Car recovered - The owner of a 1996 Honda Accord who'd reported his car stolen from his residence in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue South the morning of Sept. 10 called police later to say he'd found the car a few blocks away.
Employee theft - Formal charges are pending against a 21-year-old Target employee who is accused of stealing $563.41 in merchandise from the store at 6445 Richfield Parkway over a period of two weeks. The thefts were reported Sept. 9.
Woman raped - Police are investigating the kidnap and rape of a 26-year-old Richfield woman who was forced into a car at gunpoint as she came home from work early the morning of Sept. 4. The woman said one of her four attachers held a handgun to her neck, then she was blindfolded and driven to an unknown location, where she was sexually assaulted. The men then drove her to her residence and let her go. The incident occurred near 66th and Elliot. The woman was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Mustang stripped - A 1999 Ford Mustang was stripped of its tires, wheels and stereo overnight Sept. 4 in the 500 block of 78th Street West. The South St. Paul couple who own the car estimate the value of the stolen parts at $4,000.
Truck stolen - A Richfield man reported his 1996 Chevrolet truck was stolen from his driveway in the 7500 block of Fifth Avenue South sometime the night of Sept. 3.
Ex-girlfriend accused - A 40-year-old Richfield man told police his ex-girlfriend entered his apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South while he was sleeping Sept. 4 and stole a $700 TV set, an $800 watch, a $230 laptop computer and prescription drugs. He also accused her of dousing some of his clothing with bleach, causing $400 damage.
Knife-point robbery - A 38-year-old Shakopee man was robbed of his wallet and $40 just after 8:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in a parking lot in the 7600 block of Pleasant Avenue South. He told police a heavy-set man put him in a choke hold, displayed a knife and took his money.
Woman strangled - A 22-year-old woman was taken by paramedics to Fairview Southdale Hospital the night of Sept.. 1 after the father of her child strangled her at his residence in the 1300 block of E. 78th Street. He left the scene before police arrived.
Car tampering - Four men in their late 20s and early 30s were arrested, cited and released about 4:40 a.m. Sept. 2 near the West Virginian Apartments, 7700 12th Ave. S., after a resident spotted them tampering with cars and called police. The four--who listed Edina, Minneapolis and St. Paul addresses--denied that they'd been involved. One of the cars was broken into and CDs valued at $200 were stolen.
Restaurant burglarized - Police are investigating a burglary overnight Aug. 31 at Davanni's Pizza, 6345 Penn Ave. S., where a thief apparently lowered himself into the restaurant through a roof access panel, took $53 in change and helped himself to some desserts.
Suspects interviewed - Police say they have interviewed suspects and their parents in the recent rash of vehicle break-ins in Richfield. Another 19 cars and trucks were reported ransacked over the weekend, most of them left unlocked. In the most recent incidents, wallets, iPods, cash and other items were stolen.
Woman shot - An 18-year-old Richfield man was arrested for felony assault just after midnight Aug. 28 when his 18-year-old girlfriend called police to report he'd shot her in the leg with a pellet gun. The incident occurred at an apartment the two share in the 6000 block of Chicago Avenue South.
Armed burglar - A couple who called police to report a burglary in progress at their home in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South the night of Aug. 28 said they were confronted by a man with a gun. The robber left the scene with $80 in cash.
Electronics taken - A thief entered an apparently unlocked house in the 7400 block of 18th Avenue South late the night of Aug. 18 and left with a $300 computer and a $750 high-definition TV. Nothing else was taken and the house was not damaged.
Vehicles ransacked - Richfield police are investigating 11 reports of vehicles being broken into and ransacked over the weekend, most of them in the western half of the city. In most cases, the unlocked cars and trucks were parked in a driveway or unlocked garage and little of value was taken. Officers did arrest a teenager who was trying door handles in a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South just after 2 a.m. Aug. 27. Bobcat stolen - A loader valued at $15,000 owned by CS McCrossan Construction was stolen from the construction site at I-494 and Nicollet Avenue South overnight Aug. 25.
Lawn-equipment thefts - A trailer loaded with a fertilizer spreader and a back-pack leaf blower, total value $5,700, were stolen from the back of a truck overnight Aug. 25 in the 6200 block of Irving Avenue South. Sometime Aug. 26, a riding lawnmower valued at $2,000 was stolen from a home in the 6400 block of Humboldt Avenue South.
Graffitist arrested - Police have arrested an 18-year-old Richfield man in connection with more than $1,000 in graffiti damage to buildings north and west of Penn Avenue and 66th Street.. The man, who lives in the neighborhood, was carrying cans of spray paint in a backpack when police stopped him just after 10 p.m. Aug. 22 as he rode his bicyle down Penn Avenue near 65th Street.
Car stolen - A 1998 Volvo valued at $4,000 was stolen from a driveway in the 7400 block of 16th Avenue South sometime the night of Aug. 21.
Domestic assaults - A 26-year-old St. Paul man was arrested at his sister's house in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South just after midnight Aug. 21 after he threatened to punch her in the face. Later that day, a 16-year-old RIchfield boy was arrested in the 7000 block of 14th Avenue South after an argument with his father.
Bill-changer stolen - Police are looking for a person or persons who ripped a bill changer off a wall at Colony Apartments, 1740 76th St. W., overnight Aug. 21. The thief did $500 damage removing the machine, which is valued at $1,000 and contained $300 cash.
House burglarized - A laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen from a home in the 7600 block of Pillsbury Avenue South on Aug. 24. Police said no force was used to enter the home.
Car break-ins - Police are investigating a half-dozen recent incidents of thefts from cars:
- The afternoon of Aug. 18, a juvenile was arrested after a witness saw him leaving a vehicle parked in the 7600 block of Harriet Avenue South.
- An attempted break-in was reported about 10 p.m. Aug. 18 in the 7100 block of Harriet.
- A $400 Sony radio-CD player was taken from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7300 block of Fifth Avenue South overnight Aug. 18.
- Thieves broke into a car parked in the 6300 block of Pleasant Avenue South overnight Aug. 18 and stole a purse containing a wallet, a money order for $779, $65 in cash, a driver's license and Social Security cards.
- A wallet and a $200 iPod were taken from a vehicle parked in the 7100 block of Bloomington Avenue South overnight Aug. 19.
- A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7200 block of 12th Avenue South on Aug. 20.
Purse rifled - A Richfield woman reported that another shopper at Target, 6445 Richfield Parkway, reached into her purse the afternoon of Aug. 20 and stole a wallet containing her identification, charge card and $500 cash.
Drinking arrests - Four teenage boys were cited for underage possession of alcohol after police broke up a drinking party in a parking lot in the 600 block of 78th Street East the afternoon of Aug. 18. They were issued citations and released to their parents.
Man mugged - A 42-year-old Richfield man was hospitalized with head injuries after four men attacked him in Nicollet Park eary the morning of Aug. 15.The man told police he didn't recognize any of his attackers.
Vehicles stolen - Police are investigating two vehicle thefts over the weekend. A 2005 Ford Focus was stolen overnight Aug. 13 from the 6900 block of 10th Avenue South. The owner's wallet, driver's license and credit cards were inside the vehicle. A 1990 Ford truck valued at $2,000 was taken from the 7400 block of Portland Avenue South on Aug. 16.
Felony theft - A 51-year-old Dundas, Minn., man was arrested just before 1 a.m. Aug. 15 at The Transmission Shop, 6958 Cedar Ave. S., on several charges including felony theft, damage to property and possession of burglary tools.
Family threats - Police arrested a 34-year-old Richfield man the afternoon of Aug. 15 after he threatened his mother with a box cutter and made threats to other members of his family.
Bike stolen - A Richfield man told police his $4,035 Cannondale bicycle was stolen from a bike rack on top of his car mid-morning on Aug. 15 in the 6700 block of Elliot Avenue South.
Not graffiti? - Police are investigating an incident of vandalism at Dave's Furniture, 6315 Penn Ave. S., overnight Aug. 13. The bumper of a truck was painted white and the words "this isn't graffiti" were sprayed on a wall with green paint.
Gang graffiti - Gang graffiti was spray painted on 11 garages overnight Aug. 10, all on Grand, Harriet and Pleasant avenues between 67th and 69th streets. Damage was estimated at between $300 and $1,000 in each incident.
Workers assaulted - A 28-year-old Bloomington man was arrested just before 2 a.m. Aug. 11 after cursing at and threatening two Richfield employees working at the intersection of Portland Avenue and 66th Street. When police arrived to investigate, they found the man being held down by the two workers. He was jailed and faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, obstruction and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Car stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo from the 7000 block of Garfield Avenue South overnight Aug. 10. The car, which was unlocked, is valued at $5,000.
Check fraud- A 25-year-old Richfield man called police the morning of Aug. 11 after his bank told him an $8,000 check written to his father and deposited in the son's account turned out to be fraudulent.
Apartment burglarized- A Richfield man told investigators someone stole $6,000 worth of electronics, including a Pioneer DJ set-up, from his apartment in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South. The burglar or burglars apparently removed a window screen to gain access to the home on Aug. 11.
Store robbed - A man walked into Radio Shack, 6535 Nicollet Ave. S., just before 9 p.m. Aug. 5 and told everyone in the store to get down on the floor, implying he had a gun. He walked out with three Playstation controllers valued at $165 and a $320 television set.
Drug arrests - Richfield police executed several search warrants last week that led to drug arrests:
- A 43-year-old Richfield man, a 21-year-old North Minneapolis man and a 19-year-old Golden Valley man were arrested Aug. 5 in an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn for possession of marijuana.
- A 29-year-old Richfield man was arrested for possessing 3.2 grams of crack cocaine Aug. 5 in his apartment, also in the 7700 block of Penn.
- A 22-year-old Richfield man was arrested Aug. 4 in his house in the 7300 block of Harriet, where police seized .5 grams of heroin.
More drugs - Police investigating reports of break-ins Aug 4 in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South and Aug. 5 in the 7700 block of Penn arrested two people on outstanding felony warrants after they discovered drugs at each scene.
Apartment burglary- Police are looking for a burglar who broke into an apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South on Aug. 4 and stole at $500 stereo, a $900 TV and $200 worth of quarters. The door of the apartment sustained about $300 damage.
Copper stolen - Thieves who broke into a Northern Pipeline construction trailer overnight Aug. 1 got away with about $5,000 worth of copper wire and tubing. They broke a padlock to gain entry to the trailer, which was parked near Knox and 73rd Street.
Teen threatened - A 53-year-old Richfield woman was arrested and jailed the evening of Aug.1 for threatening her 13-year-old son with a large kitchen knife. Police said the intoxicated woman and the boy were arguing in their home in the 7600 block of Cedar Avenue South. The teen was not hurt.
Babysitter threatened - A girl who threatened her babysitter with a curtain rod during an argument just after noon Aug. 3 was arrested for second-degree aggravated assault. The incident occurred in th 6300 block of Pleasant Avenue South.
Man mugged- A 23-year-old Richfield man told police a man in his 40s approached him just after midnight Aug. 2 in the 1000 block of 78th Street East and demanded his $30 Timex watch. The man took the watch and walked away.
Two hospitalized - A 28-year-old man from Edina and a 34-year-old man from Richfield were hospitalized with stab wounds the night of July 28 after a fight with another man in a parking lot in the 800 block of 65th Street West. The third man left the scene before police arrived.
Domestic assault - A 35-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed the afternoon of July 30 for beating up his live-in girlfriend in their home in the 7200 block of Upton Avenue South. The woman, 31, told police the two were arguing when the man hit her in the face with a closed fist, dragged her to the floor, then kneed and kicked her.
Forced entry - A burglar forced open the door of an apartment in the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue South sometime before midnight on July 30 and rummaged through the home of the victim, who was out of town at the time. An ex-boyfriend is a suspect in the case.
Bad lock- Police are investigating a burglary in the 2900 block of Washburn Circle on July 29 in which a TV set valued at $350 and $14 cash were taken. The homeowner told police he was unable to secure a door to the house because the key is stuck in the deadbolt lock. There was no sign of forced entry.
Ambushed - Police are looking for two teenagers who used a shotgun to hold up a Pizza Hut delivery person about 11 p.m. July 24. The driver, a 54-year-old woman from Edina, was attempting to deliver a pizza to an apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale when the two confronted her, stole her cell phone and drove away in her 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. She was not injured. The phone and car were later recovered.
Mugged - Three teens jumped a 24-year-old Minneapolis man in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South the afternoon of July 24 after asking him if he could break a $20 bill. They took $95 in cash from the man but were later caught. One of the boys was arrested.
Robbed - An 18-year-old Richfield man was held up just after 1 p.m. on July 27 by three men, one of whom pulled a handgun and demanded money. The victim told police he gave them $178 in cash. Later arrested were a 23-year-old man from Minneapolis, a 24-year-old man from Brooklyn Center and a 22-year-old man from Robbinsdale. The incident happened on the street in the 700 block of 78th Street East.
Car break-ins- Police are investigating 10 vehicle break-ins reported between July 24 and July 27 in different locations in the city. Steroes, GPS units and cash were taken in some of the thefts.
Shoplifting arrest - A 30-year-old Blaine woman was arrested the afternoon of July 22 at Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W., after she shoplifted items valued at more than $700, including a GPS unit, clothing and an air pistol.
Church break-in - A 19-year-old homeless man, address unknown, was taken to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon after he broke into Richfield Baptist Church, 6215 Oliver Ave. S.
Bikes stolen - Two bicyles valued at $250 and $200 were taken from the backyard of a house in the 1700 block of 72nd Street West sometime after midnight July 23. That same morning, a $600 road bike was taken from a garage in the 7400 block of Dupont Avenue South. Investigators have no suspects or witnesses.
Domestic assault- Police are looking for a Minneapolis man who pulled a 32-year-old Richfield woman's hair and pushed and strangled strangled her the afternoon of July 22. The woman, who lives in the 600 block of 78th Streeet West, told police the man is the father of her 6-year-old child. She did not require medical attention.
Guns stolen - Thieves took three guns, one of them loaded, from unlocked vehicles in Richfield this week. Tuesday night, items including $50 in change, an iPod and a loaded handgun were taken from a 1997 Ford van parked in an alley driveway in the 6800 block of Russell Avenue South. Wednesday night, two shotguns valued at $2,900 and a wallet containing $120 cash were taken from an unlocked truck parked in the 7500 block of 13th Avenue South.
Teen shoplifters - Three teenage boys were caught stealing about $1,000 worth of jewelry, clothing and other items about 7 p.m. July 19 from Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. They were cited and released to their parents.
Car stolen - A Richfield woman reported her 2001 gold Pontiac Bonneville and about $2,000 worth of girl's hockey equipment that was inside the car were stolen early the morning of July 17. The vehicle was parked outside her residence, in the 7000 block of Penn Avenue South.
Assault arrest - A 30-year-old Richfield woman was arrested for second-degree aggravated assault about 1:30 a.m. July 19 outside a laundromat at 12th Avenue South and 66th Street. A Richfield man at the laundroman told police the woman was screaming, yelling and waving a knife in front of his family. No one was hurt in the incident.
Bicyclist robbed - An 18-year-old Richfield man headed home from work just after midnight July 15 was knocked off his bike by another man at the intersection of Lyndale Avenue and Oak Grove Boulevard. The robber took the man's cell phone, valued at $50. The man's parents took him to a hospital emergency room because he had blacked out during the attack.
SUV stolen - Police are looking for a pair of car thieves who apparently traded their bicycles for a Lincoln Navigator overnight July 13. The SUV was parked in a driveway in the 6400 block of Upton Avenue South, where two bikes were left abandoned.
Car break-in - A guest at Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S., reported someone smashed the passenger-side window of his rental car July 13 and stole a backpack containing items valued at more than $2,000, including a laptop computer, an iPhone charger, a polo shirt and two pair of shorts.
Stereo stolen - Thieves took a DVD/CD player valued at $1,200 and an $80 airgun from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 7300 block of Penn Avenue South sometime the night of July 14.
Tires slashed - The owners of two cars parked at different addresses near the corner of 64th and Bloomington on July 17 reported their front tires were slashed.
Bogus bill - Police are looking for a counterfeiter who apparently washed a $10 bill and reprinted it as a $100 bill. It was deposited with other receipts from the DQ Grill and Chill, 2800 66th St. W., last month and discovered by the bank.
Shoe shoplifters - Two men were arrested just after 7 p.m. July 13 after stealing several pairs of shoes from Payless Shoes, 4 66th St. W. The men, 43 and 40 years old, both live in Minneapolis.
Seniors assaulted - A 56-year-old Richfield woman was arrested about 10:45 p.m. July 11 after assaulting an 84-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman, members of her family, in the 7600 block of Colfax Avenue South. The victims suffered scratches and bruises but refused treatment.
Car theft - Thieves got away with a catalytic converter valued at $1,000 they stole from a vehicle owned by Value Village, 6528 Penn Ave. S., sometime the night of July 10.
Salon robbed - Two men in hoodies held up SalonCentric, 6532 Penn Ave. S., just after 5 p.m. July 7, getting away with $500 cash. Richfield police said one man pulled out a large hunting knife and demanded cash from a clerk while the other held out a bag to collect the money. They fled through a rear entrance.
Vandals strike - Someone using a BB or pellet gun did $800 damage to a window at the RIchfield Liquor Store at 65th and Lyndale and $700 damage to a glass door at nearby Woodlake Cleaners overnight July 4. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Man held up - A 51-year-old Eagan man was robbed as he got out of his car in the Richfield Liquor Store lot at 66th and Cedar about 8:30 p.m. on July 9. According to police, a man approached the car, said he had a gun and demanded cash. He got away with $80.
Son accused - A man who lives in the 7500 block of Vincent Avenue South told police his son has been stealing items including movies, a computer-game console, a guitar and a wedding ring, all valued at more than $4,180, and has either sold or pawned them.
Intruder flees - The screams of a 56-year-old Richfield woman apparently scared off a burglar about 5 a.m. July 2 in the 1500 block of 66th Street West. She told police the man, who had cut a window screen to enter her home, was fondling her when she woke up, then fled when she screamed.
Check fraud - A 25-year-old St. Lous Park woman and a 24-year-old Minneapolis man were arrested the afternoon of July 1 after trying to cash a forged check for more than $800 at Ace Cash Express, 6525 Nicollet Ave. S.
Employee theft - A 21-year-old Petsmart employee was arrested July 1 after admitting he falsified store receipt returns totaling more than $500 during the month of June. The 21-year-old Bloomington man was charged with theft and taken to jail.
St. Louis shoplifters - Three adults and two juveniles from St. Louis were arrested about 8 p.m. July 2 after stealing about $400 worth of merchandise from the Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. According to a police report, the five left the store and fled in a van before officers arrived but were caught nearby. A 24-year-old man, two 18-year-old women and two juveniles were issued citations and released.
Gas pump stolen - Police are looking for a 1960s-era gasoline pump that was stolen from outside a garage in the 6700 block of Grand Avenue South sometime June 27 or 28. The 300-pound pump is red and white with a black base and is decorated with a Richfield Gas emblem and the figure of a falcon. It's valued at $800.
Narcotics arrest - A 31-year-old Bloomington man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. June 30 for drunken driving and felony possession of narcotics. Investigators are testing the pills officers seized during the arrest near 69th and Penn.
Bike recovered - Richfield police recovered a bicycle valued at $5,000 the evening of June 30 in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South. The bike was originally stolen in Minneapolis.
Domestic assault - A Richfield man was arrested and taken to jail after a fight with his 22-year-old girlfriend just after 8 p.m. June 27 at their apartment in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South. The woman was not injured, according to a police report.
Vehicle break-ins - Thieves smashed the driver's side windows of seven vehicles in RIchfield over the weekend and stole GPS systems, CD players and a $1,500 laptop. Some of the break-ins happened west of Russell Avenue between 66th and 69th Streets overnight Saturday, the others near 70th and Harriet.
Teen drinkers - Police broke up an underage-drinking party the night of June 24 in the 700 block of 78th Street East, writing citations for three boys and two girls ages 15 to 17 and releasing them to their parents.
Obstruction arrest - A 22-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction when officers were called to break up another teen drinking party in the 7300 block of Knox Avenue just after midnight June 25.
Domestic assault - A 20-year-old Crystal man was taken to jail the afternoon of June 23 after his 19-year-old girlfriend reported he'd hit her in an apartment in the 1000 block of 77th Street East.
Washington Park assault - A 36-year-old Minneapolis man told police he was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face the evening of June 23 after he confronted a man who was yelling obscenities at children in Washington Park.
Home burglaries - Burglars took camera equipment from a home in the 6600 block of Irving Avenue the afternoon of June 22 and a laptop computer and a TV set from a home in the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue the afternoon of June 24. Neither residence was locked, according to the police reports.
Domestic assault - What started as an argument with his son's girlfriend, ended as a night in the hospital and handcuffs for a 56-year-old man June 21. Police were called to the 7100 block of Logan Avenue around 1 a.m. after the suspect grabbed his son's girlfriend by throat and threatened to kill her. When they arrived the man barricaded himself in the garage. According a police report, he was extremely intoxicated and struggled with officers. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following the altercation.
Tow truck theft - Police are looking for a thief who stole equipment valued at about $1700 from a T&T automotive tow truck between midnight and 7 a.m. Sunday. The suspect removed aluminum tow dollies, a gray jump pack and a red floor jack from the truck.
Vehicle break-ins - It is unclear if a series of thefts overnight Monday were related.
- A Mercedes and Infinity parked in the 6400 block of Emerson Avenue had two windows smashed. An IBM Pink Pad laptop valued at $1000 was reported stolen.
- A window was broken on a van parked in the 6900 block of Emerson Avenue, and a JVC high definition radio valued at $229 was taken from the console.
- A Garmin GPS worth $254 was taken from a car parked along the alleyway in the 6900 block of Thomas Avenue.
- A garage in the 6800 block of Thomas Avenue was broken into. A bike valued at $800 was taken along with CD's and a book from inside a car.
Attempted burglary - Police tracked a burglary suspect to a crawl space in the attic of a house in the 6900 block of 3rd Avenue the evening of June 12th. A neighbor alerted authorities after seeing someone pull a screen away from a window and enter the home. The suspect, a juvenile, told police he entered the house to use the bathroom.
School graffiti - Police are investigating an incident that occurred at the Academy of Holy Angels overnight June 12. A booster club trailer, aluminium bleachers and two areas of turf were sprayed with red and white paint causing more than $900 in damages.
Bike swap - A green and silver Trek bicycle was reported stolen from the 6300 block of Wentworth Avenue the afternoon of June 15. The owner left his bike on the front lawn for only a few minutes before discovering it missing and another bike left in its place. The swapped bike had also been reported stolen and was returned to the owner.
Aggravated robbery - A man was hospitalized after being struck three times in the head with a pistol around 9:20 p.m. June 18 in his Cedar Avenue apartment. The three suspects, who were known to the victim, robbed him of money, a cell phone and possibly narcotics according to a police report. The suspects have not been identified or located at this time.
Petco theft - Dog grooming and training kits valued at more than $4,700 were stolen during the day June 9 from locked glass display cases at Petco, 710 66th St. W. Police will be checking surveillance-camera recordings to see if they can identify suspects. The Fridley Petco store recently reported similar thefts.
Apartment hit - Jewelry, sliverware, coins and linens valued at $5,000 were stolen from the Lyndale Avenue apartment of a woman who died May 20. The woman's daughter filed a police report June 11.
Domestic assaults - Two men were taken into custody and police are looking for a third in connection with domestic assaults June 9, 10 and 11:
- Police are seeking a man who's alleged to have struck his ex-girlfriend in the head with a gun and threatened to shoot her and her brother as she was picking up her children from her mother's house in the 2100 block of 66th Street East on June 9.
- An 18-year-old Richfield man was taken into custody June 11 after he was accused of slapping and kicking his 18-year-old girlfriend the evening of June 10 in the 900 block of 66th Street West.
- A 21-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested about 11 a.m. June 11 in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South after a drunken fight with his mother, who suffered a cut lip but didn't require medical treatment.
Gun confiscated - Police took a 24-year-old Richfield man into custody June 9 after they spotted him on the loading dock of the former Kmart store and found he was carrying a gun with the serial number filed off
Gunpoint robbery - Police arrested four people the evening of June 6 after a Richfield man was robbed at gunpoint at 74th and Portland. According to a police report, a car pulled up to where the man was standing and a man pointed a gun at him and demanded he get down on the ground. The robber then took the man's wallet containing $120 in cash and his cellphone. As the car drove away, a witness relayed the car's license plate number to authorities. Bloomington police went to the address of the car's owner and arrested four people: a 23-year-old North Minneapolis man, and a 38-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, all of whom reside at the address. All were taken to jail.
Projector stolen - A thief or thieves stole a ceiling-mounted projector valued at $839 from the Minnesota School of Business the afternoon of June 8. Police have no witnesses or suspects.
Cars stolen - Police are investigating the theft of two cars Sunday and Monday. A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am went missing June 3 from Carhop, 6529 Penn Ave., but wasn't reported stolen until June 6. A 1995 Prism was taken without its owner's permission from the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South on June 5.
Attempted burglaries - Two homeowners reported attempted burglaries in the past week. Someone cut a window screen of a townhome in the first block of 77th Street West after midnight June 6, but fled before entering the home. And a neighbor called police when a would-be burglar was spotted trying to break into a window of a house in the 7500 block of Third Avenue South the morning of June 5. That burglar also fled.
Peeping Tom - Police arrested a 27-year-old Richfield man outside a home in the 700 block of 78th Street East just after midnight June 5 after they saw him peeping through a window with his pants down. He was jailed and faces a charge of interference with privacy.
Laundry theft - For the third time in a week, police are investigating the theft of laundry equipment, this time in the 1300 block of 78th Street. A building caretaker reported that the tops of two coin-operated dryers valued at $400 each and an unknown amount of change were taken overnight June 1.
Aggravated robbery- A fight over money between a 27-year-old Richfield man and a group of people late the evening of June 3 ended in the man's arrest for aggravated robbery. Police answered a call in the 1000 block of 77th Street East where witnesses said the man punched a child in the chest and a woman in the face. He fled but was arrested after he jumped from the second-floor balcony of a nearby building
Bad call - A 53-year-old Minneapolis man who called police to remove a woman who refused to leave his Motel 6 room the afternoon of May 28 ended up being arrested himself for soliciting a prostitute. The 28-year-old MInneapolis woman was arrested for five outstanding felony warrants but not for prostitution.
Laundry thefts- Thieves targeted coin-operated laundry machines during two break-ins in the past week, taking more than $1,000 in change and doing $1,000 damage in one and taking the tops off two dryers valued at $400-$500 in the other. The laundry-room thefts occurred May 31 in lthe 1300 block of 78th Street East and May 27 in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Domestic assault - A 24-year-old Crystal man was arrested after police answered a domestic violence call in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue the morning of May 27. The man had punched his 23-year-old girlfriend in the face and then left the scene. Police arrested him in a nearby building for outstanding felony warrants.
Family fight - Police arrested the 21-year-old boyfriend of a Richfield woman about 3:45 a.m. May 29 after punching her father in the face in a dispute over "tissue paper," according to a police report.
Assaulted police - Authorities are asking that assault charges be filed against a woman who fought with, spit on and kicked police officers who tried to remove her from a home in the 6600 block of Lynwood Boulevard the evening of May 29. Police said the woman hurt her foot kicking a squad car door and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.
Bike theft - Police are looking for a person who stole a $400 mountain bike from a garage in the 6300 block of 14th Avenue South sometime the night of May 26 and left another mountain bike in its place.
Businesses burglaries- A thief either had a key or hid inside one of three businesses burglarized overnight May 21 near 66th and Nicollet, according to Richfield police. Workers at Tan Line came in Saturday morning to find a cash register on the floor and $130-$140 missing. Next door at Tii Cup, $12 in change and a digital cameral valued at $300 was taken. Eastern Buffet was hit for $1,400 in coins and bills. Police have no witnesses or suspects.
Dash and crash - Two women ran out of China Garden, 4 66th St. W., without paying their $20 restaurant tab just after 8:30 p.m. May 22. They also broke a glass door valued at $500 as they fled.
Woman assaulted - A 39-year-old Richfield man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic assault after he assaulted a 34-year-old woman acquaintance in the 6500 block of 16th Avenue South.
Liquor store damaged - An 18-year-old Richfield man and an 18-year-old Burnsville man were arrested just after midnight May 24 when police responded to an alarm at the Richfield Municipal LIquore Store at 66th and Cedar. Glass was broken, but the men apparently didn't get inside the store.
Truck break-in - The owner of a 2005 Chevy Tahoe reported someone punched out the truck's door lock and took stereo equipment, DVDs, tools and his wallet between last Saturday night and Wednesday morning. Total loss is estimated at $1,500.
Guns stolen- Burglars got away with eight pistols valued at more than $4,000 from a house in the 7000 block of Third Avenue South. The burglar or burglars broke a window in a side door of the home to get inside sometime before noon May 19. Jewelry and checks may also have been taken, according to police.
Cash taken - Police are also looking into a home burglary in the 6400 block of Blaisdell Avenue South that happened sometime before May 20. Cash was taken from a safe while the homeowners were out of town.
Two arrested - A boyfriend and girfriend who got into a fistfight with one another at their apartment in the 7100 block of Chicago Avenue South about 3 a.m. May 20 were arrested and jailed.
ATM theft - A 24-year-old Eden Prairie man called police from the AmericInn about 2:30 a.m. May 20 to report a woman he met through a friend had withdrawn $600 from his checking account from an ATM machine without his permission. No arrest was reported.
Domestic assault - Paramedics took a 20-year-ol RIchfield woman to the hospital mid-afternoon May 21 after her boyfriend punched her in the face. The couple lives in the 200 block of 65th Street West.
Teacher hurt - A teacher at South Education Center, 7450 Penn Ave. S., was taken to Methodist Hospital with a wrist injury the afternoon of May 18 after a student, a 21-year-old man from Chaska, assaulted her. No arrest was made.
Child pornography - Workers at Best Buy, 1000 78th St. W., called Richfield police May 18 after they discovered what appeared to be child pornography on a computer they were scanning for viruses. Richfield police have a suspect but are still investigating.
Apartment burglary - A Richfield man told police someone stole alcohol and various electronics from his apartment in the 6400 block of Queen Avenue South sometime during the day May 15. The stolen items are valued at $1,530.
School theft - Police are investigating the theft of a backpack from outside the Richfield High School gymnasium the afternooon of May 17. The backpack contained a cell phone and other electronics valued at $530.
Phony bills - Richfield police arrested a 31-year-old north Minneapolis man Saturday evening after he attempted to pass counterfeit $20 bills at Little Caesar's and Dollar Tree in the Hub Shopping Center.
Underage smoking - Three teenagers were issued citations for underage smoking or possession of tobacco May 12 and 13:
- A 16-year-old Richfield boy and a 14-year-old Minneapolis girl were spotted smoking at 71st and Garfield by a police cadet just before noon May 12 and cited for underage smoking.
- A 16-year-old Richfield boy was issued a citation for possession of tobacco about 9 a.m. May 13 in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Sex-crime investigation - Child protection and Richfield police investigations have been launched after child protection workers received a report of sexual contact between a boy and members of his family who live in the 7300 block of Penn Avenue South.
Business burglarized - Burglars hit the Tastee Bakery Outlet store, 6949 Nicollet Ave. S., overnight Sunday, getting away with $1,200 from a floor safe they cut open. Police have no witnesses or suspects.
Sister, sister!- Two sisters, 40 and 41 years old, injured each other during a drunken fight in the 6700 block of Girard Avenue South early the morning of May 8. Paramedics took one of them to a hospital for treatment. No arrests were made.
Shoplifter arrested - A 37-year-old South Minneapolis woman, who police think may have been part of a shoplifting ring, was arrested at Menard's, 7701 Nicollet Ave. S., the afternoon of May 9 after she was caught taking more than $600 worth of power tools and walkie-talkie.
Apartment burglaries - Richfield police are investigating:
- a break-in May 10 at an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South where the burglar took off a screen and opened an unlocked window. Nothing was reported stolen.
- a break-in reported May 11 in which the victim said a man who has been making harassing phone calls to her entered her apartment in the first block of 78th Street through an unlocked balcony door and stole her $600 TV.
Automobile tampering - Police arrested a 36-year-old North Minneapolis man for tampering with an automobile after he was found inside a car that didn't belong to him the evening of May 10 at the Minnesota School of Business.
Pair arrested - She wrecked his car. He punched her out. They both went to jail.
According to a police report, a 25-year-old Richfield woman hit a tree and flattened a no-parking sign near 16th Avenue South and Diagonal Boulevard about 5 p.m. May 5, then drove away. She and her 26-year-old boyfriend argued about the damage to his car, and the fight turned physical. Police matched the car to the earlier hit-and-run report while they were responding to the woman's call for help and arrested her for driving while intoxicated. The boyfriend was arrested for misdemeanor domestic assault.
Hit-and-run- A 41-year-old Minneapolis man was hurt about 11:30 a.m. May 5 when an SUV jumped the curb at 66th and Chicago and hit him. Police pursued and later arrested a 57-year-old Edina man for misdemeanor impaired driving, injuring the first man with his vehicle and fleeing police. The victim was treated at a hospital for head injuries.
Thefts reported - Richfield police are investigating a number of thefts reported over the weekend:
- Tools valued at more than $500 were taken from a home in the 7000 block of 18th Avenue South the night of May 5.
- A man who lives in the 7000 block of Third Avenue South told police his son stole thousands of dollars in jewelry and coins from his home April 30.
- A camcorder and a ring valued at $700 were stolen from a home in the 7200 block of Cedar Avenue South sometime before May 6.
- Jewelry valued at $3,000 was taken from a house in the 7100 block of 18th Avenue South on May 6.
Woman robbed - A woman from Forest Lake told police a man and woman stole her $200 purse containing $140 cash, kicked her out of their car and left her stranded at The Shops at Lyndale the afternoon of May 2. According to a police report, the woman had phoned the man, an acquaintance, to ask for a ride to a friend's house in Richfield.
Domestic assault - A 28-year-old Richfield man was arrested and taken to jail about 8:30 p.m. May 2 after he slapped his girlfriend in their apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Drunken brawl - Two extremely intoxicated men were taken to a hospital by paramedics after a fist fight early Sunday morning in a home in the 1000 block of East 77th Street. Both men suffered head injuries. No arrests were reported.
Gang graffiti - Police answered a call reporting gang graffiti had been spray painted on walls of the vacant Lyndale Garden Center, 6412 Lyndale Ave. S.
Windows smashed - The windows of 11 vehicles were smashed overnight Thursday in the overflow lot of the Transmission Shop, 6958 Cedar Ave. S. The thief or thieves tried to steal one car, and a stereo was stolen from another. Richfield police don't yet have a list of everything taken.
Thieves caught - A 24-year-old Minneapolis man and a 22-year-old man from Blaine were arrested and jailed early the morning of April 30 after breaking into a vehicle in the 900 block of Rae Drive and stealing a tire.
Robber arrested - Police arrested a 23-year-old North Minneapolis man just after 7 a.m. Thursday after he attacked one person in a parking lot in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South and then fought with another man in an apartment building hallway. He faces charges of aggravated assault because he displayed a replica handgun during the crime.
Aggravated robbery - A 28-year-old St. Paul man was assaulted about noon April 28 in the 2700 block of 66th Street West by two acquaintances who took $800 from the man and fled. Police later arrested two Burnsville men in connection with the robbery.
Jewelry missing - A woman who moved to Richfield from Minneapolis in February told police last week that dozens of pieces of jewelry valued at $25,000 went missing sometime after her move.
Boys suspended - Two Richfield Middle School students have been suspended after the CO2 replica gun one of them brought to school April 21 was used by the other to shoot a third boy in the face. The shooter told police he wouldn't have shot his victim if he'd known how powerful the weapon was.
Road rage - A 73-year-old Minneapolis man was taken to Fairview Southdale hospital Tuesday afternoon after an angry driver beat him in the head with a baseball bat. Witnesses told Richfield police a man in his 30s pulled in front of the older man's car in the 6400 block of Xerxes, grabbed him and threw him to the ground before reaching for the bat.
Rental no-return - Richfield police arrested a 25-year-old Crystal woman near 64th and Lyndale about 3:15 p.m. April 26 when they discovered the car she was sitting in had been reported stolen. The woman had rented the Chevrolet HHR in Illinois but hadn't returned it. She was charged with possession of stolen property.
Business burlarized - Burlgars broke a plate glass window at Hub Hobby, 6410 Penn Ave. S., overnight April 25 and stole about $1,200 in remote control items. Police will be checking surveillance video for leads in the case.
Cabbie punched - A cab driver was punched when he confronted a man who tried to stiff him for a $35 fare outside Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S., about 2:30 a.m. April 24.
Check forgery - Police are investigating a report from T&T Automotive, 601 66th St. E., that two fake checks, written for $4,000 each, had been cashed on the garage's business account.
Tobacco sting - Six out of 26 Richfield businesses failed a tobacco-sales compliance check Saturday, and clerks at the stores will be issued citations. Two 17-year-old decoys were able to purchase cigarettes at: Marathon Gas, 7744 12th Ave. S.; SuperAmerica, 2913 66th St. W.; SuperAmerica, 7500 Lyndale Ave. S.; SuperAmerica, 7720 Nicollet Ave. S.; VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lakeshore Dr.; and Walgreens, 12 66th St. W.
Teens mugged - Police are looking for two teenagers who robbed a 19-year-old Richfield man and a 15-year-old Minneapolis boy in a hallway at The Hub the evening of April 21. A cellphone was stolen, and the 19-year-old was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital to be treated for a broken nose.
SUV stolen - A black 2000 Cadillac Escalade valued at $14,000 was stolen overnight April 22 from in front of a house in the 7300 block of Aldrich Avenue South.
Bogus bill - An employee at Babies R Us on 78th Street reported taking a conterfeit $100 bill the morning of April 21 from a "woman with gold teeth" who received $82 in change after purchasing a few items from the store.
Domestic assaults - A woman who lives in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue suffered facial injuries after her boyfriend of two years assaulted her April 22. Another Richfield woman told police through an interpreter that her husband kicked her in the stomach the night of April 22. She was being treated at Fairview Riverside Hospital for her injuries.
Business break-in - Burglars kicked in the door at the Kirby Company, 7528 Lyndale Ave. S., the morning of April 21. It's unknown what, if anything, was taken.
$40,000 burglary - More than 300 smart phones and other electronics with a total value of $40,000 were stolen just after 1 a.m. Tuesday from a storeroom at the Verizon Store, 1732 66th St. E. Police are reviewing security video for clues about who the burglars might have been. There was no sign of forced entry to the store.
Homes burglarized - Richfield police are investigating two other burglaries:
- Items valued at more than $1,600, including a video-game system, a flat-screen TV and jewelry, were taken from a home in the 800 block of 65th Street the moring or early afternoon of April 18. The burglar or burglars kicked in a door to enter the house.
- There were no indications of forced entry to a home in the first block of 77th Street West burglarized April 20. Two laptop computers valued at $1,500 and two purses valued at $330 were taken.
Wheelchair theft - Police are investigating the theft April 19 of a $4,000-$5,000 wheelchair from the Richfield Bloomington Health Care Center, 7727 Portland Ave. S.
Refund stolen - A Richfield woman told police Tuesday she suspects a person in Illinois who prepared her 2010 income taxes pocketed her $1,799 federal income tax refund.
Car stolen - A used-car test drive turned into a car theft the afternoon of April 14 when a New Hope man gave the keys of his white 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt to a man who said he wanted to buy the car. The owner called Richfield police when the thief hadn't returned after several hours.
Upset mom - A 15-year-old Bloomington boy could face charges for driving away from a Richfield business in a car owned by his 14-year-old girlfriend's mother. The woman called police about 3 p.m. April 16 from Petco on 66th Street to report the teen and the girl had taken the car and left her in the store. The boy later returned the 2002 Honda Accord, but the mom told police she still wants to press charges. He was released pending his cooperation with the Richfield Special Investigation Unit.
Domestic assault - A 34-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed the evening of April 16 after police were called to his home in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South on a report of domestic assualt. The man's wife told police he had grabbed her arm and scratched her during an argument.
Drunken drivers - Police made four arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol between April 14 and April 17:
- A 60-year-old Edina man was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 3000 of 66th Street and taken to jail.
- A 31-year-old Richfield man was arrested near 60th and Pleasant Friday night and jailed.
- A 58-year-old Richfield man was booked and taken home after his arrest at 74th and Nicollet early Saturday morning.
- A 42-year-old MInneapolis man was cited and released after being stopped early Sunday morning near 62nd and Portland.
Making meth? - A St. Francis, Ark., couple was arrested at the Richfield Motel 6 the afternoon of April 12 and charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Police reportedly seized chemicals used to make meth, tubing and other equipment. They also confiscated a small amount of marijuana and white powder.
Mom jailed - The 24-year-old Minneapolis woman who was sharing a room with the Arkansas couple was arrested the morning of April 13 on a felony warrant from Dakota County. Police took her to the Hennepin County jail after they called her mother to come and take custody of the woman's two small children.
Car break-in - Police are investigating the theft of property and the Iowa license plates from a 1967 Chrysler 300 that was broken into sometime before April 12. The car had been parked at the Candlewood Inn, 345 77th St. W., for some time while the owner was traveling. The thief apparently tried unsuccessfully to hotwire the car.
Gang assault - An 18-year-old Richfield man was taken to Fairview Southdale hospital to get stitches inside his mouth after being hit in the face with a shovel April 6. He identified his attackers as a goup of Asian Bloods gang members. The incident occurred at 72nd and Bloomington, according to the police report.
Equipment stolen - Richfield police are investigating the theft of a dolly valued at $1,200 and magnetic tow lights valued at $450 from T&T Automotive, 601 66th Street E., sometime the night of April 7. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Attempted carjacking - A man who tried unsuccessfully to steal a vehicle with two people inside the night of April 8 apparently gave up and ran away, according to a police report. The driver, from Minneapolis, and a passenger in his Chevy pickup truck were not injured during the incident near 2nd Avenue South and 65th Street East.
Woman assaulted - A woman who refused to leave a man's apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South about 3 a.m. April 9 was treated for minor injuries by paramedics and then taken to Regions Hospital. She told police the man hit her with his fist in the head and eye several times. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.
Strong-arm robbery - A Minneapolis woman was pushed from behind, knocked to the ground and robbed of $950 cash about 8 p.m. April 4 outside the Richfield Liquor Store at Lyndale Avenue and 65th Street. Paramedics treated the woman, 48, for a head injury, but she declined a trip to the hospital.
Car stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a green two-door Honda Civic from the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The car was stolen between noon April 2 and 10 a.m. April 3, the owner reported. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Check fraud - Employees at Crystal Care Home Health, 6461 Lyndale Ave. S., told police April 6 that someone had written and cashed about $4,000 in checks on a company account without authorization. None of the check recipients were familiar to company officials.
Assault reported - A Richfield woman told police three girls and a woman attacked her as she sat on the front steps of her apartment building in the 6600 block of Queen Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The suspects fled before police arrived.
Road rage - A Minneapolis teen reported a car full of guys threw pocket change that damaged her Lexus during a road-rage incident near Lyndale and 65th Street about 11:30 p.m. April 2. The girl told Richfield police the car cut her off, then began following her after she honked her horn. The men in the blue or gray Buick started throwing objects at her car, including a water bottle and, finally, coins.
Gunfire arrest - A 76-year-old Lakeville man was arrested and jailed Thursday afternoon after police investigated a report of gunshots. The man, who was visiting his girlfriend in the 7300 block of Grand Avenue, at first said he was shooting off firecrackers, then admitted he'd fired a .22-caliber handgun.
Sexual assault - A 30-year-old Minneapolis man who invited a 20-year-old Wisconsin woman to his room at the Motel 6 in Richfield Wednesday night ended up in jail Thursday morning. The woman called police about 7:45 a.m. Thursday saying she ran out of the room when the man, whom she'd met in downtown Minneapolis this night before, tried to put his hand in her pants.
Smash and grab - Richfield police are investigating two incidents in which thieves smashed driver's side car windows and stole CD players. The incidents happened overnight Wednesday in the 6400 block of 14th Avenue South and the 6000 block of 16th Avenue South.
Unhappy ending - A rendezvous arranged through an online dating site ended in the arrest of a 21-year-old Richfield man and the alleged theft of $400 from his date's wallet. The victim, a 53-year-old man from Champlin, called police to the 21 year old's apartment in the 6500 block of 16th Avenue South about 7:30 a.m. March 28 to report the $400, his gloves and sunglasses had been stolen. Police arrested the younger man for obstruction of the legal process. The gloves and sunglasses were recovered, but the cash was not.
Stolen card - A Richfield man called police March 28 to accuse his ex-girlfriend of stealing his debit card during a recent stay at his home in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South and using it to go on a $4,120, two-day spending spree.
Illegal relationship - A Richfield girl and her parents went to the police station March 29 to report that she'd had a sexual relationship when she was 14 with a 19-year-old RIchfield man.
Gang graffiti - Police questioned but didn't arrest a pair of teens they thnk spray painted gang graffiti on a brick wall at Washington Park the night of March 28. Those two boys and three others are suspects in the case.
Robbery foiled - Two masked robbers had to drive away without the purse they tried to snatch in broad daylight Friday afternoon, March 25. The near-victim told police the men approached her as she got out of her car in a parking lot in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South about 2:15 p.m. and tried to take the purse, but she resisted and started yelling. The men fled the scene before police and paramedics arrived. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries to her arm and wrist.
Jewelry stolen - A Richfield woman told police someone took several pieces of jewelry valued at $3.650 from her home in the 6200 block of Oliver Avenue South sometime between March 24 and Valentine's Day.
Roomate suspected - A woman who'd had a male roommate removed from her home in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue earlier this month told police three gold rings and a coin collection valued at $975 disappeared in the past week. Police do not have an address for the ex-roommate.
Drunken driving - Police arrested two drunken drivers early the morning of March 27.
- A 26-year-old Richfield woman was arrested at 62nd and Portland and released just after midnight.
- A 34-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail and released after being stopped at 78th and Nicollet about 2 a.m.
Puppies stolen - Richfield police are investigating the March 11 theft of two puppies from a van parked in the 7600 block of 18th Avenue South. The thieves also took about $1,500 in personal items. The dogs were valued at $90.
Library theft - A laptop worth $1,312 was stolen from the after-school program area of Hennepin County Public Library branch in Richfield the evening of March 7. The computer has a Hennepin County property tag. The theft was reported March 10.
Daughter arrested - An 18-year-old Richfield woman was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Friday after her mother asked her to leave the family home and she refused. Police were called to the house in the 6700 block of 14th Avenue South, and the woman became violent when they tried to remove her, according to a police report.
Storage breakin - Several storage units in the 200 block of 78th Street West were burglarized sometime before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, and several items were stolen, including a love seat valued at $1,000.
Caught shoplifting - Richfield police cited and released a 40-year-old Minneapolis woman after employees at Babies"R"Us, 900 78th St. W., saw her shoplifting about 10:30 a.m. March 9. Clothing valued at about $365 was recovered.
Juveniles arrested - Three Richfield teens were arrested for curfew violations and tampering with vehicles after they admitted to police they were trying to break into cars in the 6400 block of Newton Avenue South just after midnight March 7.
Car stolen - A Richfield resident who lives in the 1300 block of 78th Street East told police someone stole his 2000 Mazda 626 valued at $2,000 from in front of his house the afternoon of March 7. The car was unlocked and left running. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Drunken driving arrests - A 26-year-old North Minneapolis man was arrested for driving under the influence early the morning of March 8 at 66th and Nicollet.
Home burglaries - Richfield police are looking for a man who witnesses say ransacked and burglarized two apartments in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South the afternoon of March 3. TV sets and other items valued at $1,215 were taken. Damage of about $1,000 was reported. In another incident, a homeowner in the 6600 block of 16th Avenue South reported two TVs, a camera and a purse valued at $1,400 were taken during a breakin March 5.
Wife threatened - A Richfield man was arrested the afternoon of March 5 after his 14-year-old daughter called 911 to report her stepfather was threatening her mother with scissors and a knife. The woman and her three children locked themselves in the bathroom of their home in the 1300 block of East 78th Stree until police arrived.
Domestic assault - Police are looking for a man whose ex-girlfriend reported he'd threatened her with a knife and a bottle and choked her about 2:30 a.m. March 6 in an apartment in the 200 block of West 65th Street.
Drunken driving arrests - Officers made three arrrests for driving under the influence over the weekend:
- A 62-year-old Richfield man was stopped at 74th and Emerson about 11:30 p.m. Thursday and taken to jail after failing a sobriety test.
- A 23-year-old Glencoe woman was arrested after her car hit another car at the SuperAmerica station at 7720 Nicollet Ave. S. about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and she drove away. She was arrested later in Bloomington.
- A 44-year-old Richfield man was arrested Sunday afternoon at 70th and Portland Avenue South.
School fight - A cafeteria fight at the Secondary Education Center at 7450 Penn Ave. S. on Monday, Feb 28, sent a man to the hospital with facial injuries and resulted in two arrests. A juvenile male will be charged with aggravated assault and the 19-year-old Minneapolis man who was injured was arrested for disorderly conduct. Both were students at the school, according to a police report.
Assault arrest - A 30-year-old Richfield group-home resident was arrested for assault and taken to jail Monday evening after threatening a staff member with a knife and hitting her in the face. The group home is in the 7500 block of Stevens Avenue South.
Wrenches stolen - A man reported two impact wrenches valued at $700 each were taken Monday night from his vehicle at the Sinclair service station at 7735 Portland Ave. S.
Businesses burglarized - Richfield police are investigating breakins the morning of Feb. 24 at three businesses in the 6400 block of Penn Avenue South. Burglars apparently cut a hole in a door that led to a common hallway, then cut more holes to enter Hub Hobby, Acadia Candles and Crisis Connection. The burglar or burglars took about $250 from cash registers at the hobby shop, but nothing was reported stolen from the other two businesses.
Domestic assaults - Four incidents of domestic assault were reported since Thursday:
- A 13-year-old girl was assaulted just before 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the 600 block of 78th Street East. A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested in the incident.
- A brother punched his sister in the face twice, then threatened her with a large statue and a knife Thursday afternoon in the 7000 block of Cedar Avenue before fleeing in his car. No arrests were reported.
- A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail after assaulting his wife and then his daughter and the daughter's boyfriend as they came to her aid about 2:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25. The fight occured in a home in the 7000 block of Elliot Avenue South.
- A 30-year-old homeless man was taken to jail Sunday morning after beating up his girlfriend in her apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South.
Pair arrested - Police arrested two Richfield men, 20 and 21, after they were caught tampering with vehicles parked in a lot in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue about 11:20 p.m. Feb. 24.
Purse thefts - A woman reported someone took $120 cash and a debit card from her purse while she was shopping at Rainbow Foods, 140 66th St. W., the evening of Feb. 25. The next day, another woman lost $500-$600 from her purse while she was shopping at the Target store on RIchfield Parkway. No arrests were made in either case.
Girl raped - Richfield police are investigating the physical and sexual assault of a Richfield girl reported by child protection workers early the morning of Feb. 17. The girl was taken to St. Joseph's child protection services and put under a child-protection hold. Her father is a suspect, according to the police report.
Drunken driving arrests - Three adults and a juvenile were arrested for driving under the influence in separate incidents Friday and Saturday.
- A Minneapolis man was stopped at Cedar Avenue and Diagonal Boulevard at 1:45 p.m. Friday, charged and taken to jail.
- A juvenile arrested about 1:45 s.m. Saturday at 64th and Penn was cited for underage drinking and driving.
- A 61-year-old Richfield woman who was refused service at the Richfield Liquor Store about 9:30 Saturday morning because she was intoxicated was arrested for drunken driving a short time later near 64th and Lyndale.
- A 28-year-old Mound man was arrested just after 4 p.m. Saturday at 66th Street and Pleasant Avenue.
Stolen vehicle - Police arrested a Ponsford man the morning of Feb. 19 after spotting him in a vehicle parked at Veterans' Park. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and a felony parole violation and taken to the Hennepin County Jail.
Family fraud - Family members of an elderly Richfield resident filed a fraud complaint against another family member Feb. 18 alleging the person stole more than $800,000 through credit card fraud and illegal electronic financial transfers. No arrest was reported.
Tires slashed - A man told police a former girlfriend might have been the person who slashed the tires of his car a day or two after Valentine's Day. The car was parked in a lot in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South.
Swindled - Two men have been arrested after they convinced an elderly Richfield man he owed them almost $9,000 for home repair and snow removal work. According to police, the two were paid $810 to do some work for the man earlier this week but came back Feb. 16 demanding an additional $8,000, "helping him" write the check. Plymouth police arrested the pair as they tried to pass the check at a Plymouth bank.
Domestic assualt - A fight between an Eagan woman and her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend in the Richfield Motel 6 parking lot just after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning resulted in the man's arrest. The woman was injured but didn't require medical treatment.
Kids did it? - Theives broke into a home in the 7300 block of 18th Avenue South sometime Tuesday morning or early afternoon and took items valued at about $4,700, including two Playstation game consoles, a laptop computer and $300 in cash. Police suspect juveniles who live in the neighborhood.
Gang graffiti - The manager of an apartment complex in the 900 block of 77th Street East estimates it will cost more than $1,000 to clean up Los Vatos gang graffiti painted on several buildings overnight Tuesday.
Bad break-up - Police were called to remove a 21-year-old man from an apartment he shared with his girlfriend on 78th Street West the night of Feb. 16 after he allegedly damaged clothing, a bed and a television set in the apartment during an argument. The man was later arrested for causing more than $1,000 in damage to property.
High-speed pursuit - Police arrested an 18-year-old West. St. Paul man in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 after a high-speed car chase through Richfield. According to a police report, an officer pulled over a Ford SUV occupied by a number of people for a traffic stop at 70th and Nicollet about 1:45 a.m. When the vehicle came back as stolen after a computer check, the driver sped away. The ensuing chase ended on 12th Avenue South, where the driver jumped out of the car and ran to a neaby driveway and was tackled by the officer. The man was arrested for fleeing an officer, taken to a hospital for treatment of facial wounds and then on to jail.
Domestic assualt - A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault the evening of Feb. 11 after allegedly beating up his girlfriend, who sustain minor bruises. The incident occured in an apartment in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue South.
Indecent exposure - A woman called police just after 4 a.m. on Feb. 12 to report her neighbor in an apartment building in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South had knocked on her door, then exposed himself when she opened it. The 39-year-old man was charged with a misdemeanor.
Counterfeit $20 - A man from North Minneapolis and another from Brooklyn Park were arrested the afternoon of Feb. 7 after attempting to pass a bogus $20 bill at the Marathon Gas Station on 12th Avenue South.
Drunk at school - Four Richfield Senior High students who returned to school from lunch with alcohol on their breath Feb. 4 were charged by police with underage drinking and disciplined by school authorites.
Drunk at the wheel - Richfield police arrested three people over the weekend for driving while intoxicated:
- About 8 p.m. Feb. 4, a 41-year-old Bloomington man failed a sobriety test at 74th Street and Penn Avenue;
- Just before 1 a.m. Feb 5, a 33-year-old northeast Minneapolis man failed a sobriety test at 74th and Lyndale Avenue:
- At 7 a.m. on Feb. 6, a 28-year-old Richfield woman was stopped after failing to yield to a vehicle at East 66th Street and Third Ave. S.
All three were taken to jail.
Smash and grab - A Richfield resident reported the theft of a $300 iPod and $200 damage to his 2007 Chevy Silverado when thieves broke into the vehicle the morning of Feb. 3 in the 700 block of W. 78th Street. About 7 p.m. the same day, a Richfield High student reported that a credit card and items valued at $700 were taken when his vehicle was broken into in the high school parking lot.
Vandalism arrest - Police charged a 26-year-old Richfield woman with criminal damage to propery for smashing the windows out of a Dodge Durango in a parking lot in the 700 block of W. 78th Street the morning of Feb. 3. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
Attempted robbery - Richfield police are looking for a woman who walked into Fantastic Sam's hair salon on 66th Street the afternoon of Feb. 2 and struggled with employees before she fled. According to a police report, the woman initially asked for change, then tried to force her way behind a counter while she threatened employees. No weapons were used and nothing was taken in the incident.
Missing rent - Managers at the Buena Vista apartments on 77th Street called police after a money order for $845 from a resident came up missing this week. The company that issued the money order said someone from Buena Vista had cashed it, but the managers said that wasn't the case. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Aide accused of theft - A man who lives in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue has accused his former personal care attendant of stealing cash, clothing, DVDs and CDs valued at about $850 from him. He told police Feb. 1 that the woman had moved into his home with his permission and stole the items after he asked her to move out. No arrests were reported in connection with the incident.
Marijuana arrest - A 21-year-old Minneapolis man cited for drug possession and released about 11 a.m. Feb. 1 after a police narcotics dog led officers to a room at the Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue where the man had been smoking marijuana.
Drug busts - Working with a confidential informant, Richfield police investigators made two arrests Jan. 24 at the Richfield Motel 6. A 48-year-old North Minneapolis man was arrested just after noon for possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Hennepin County jail. A 35-year-old man, also from North Minneapolis, was caught with crack cocaine later in the day, detained and released.
Counterfeit $100s - Police received two reports of people trying to pass bogus $100 bills in Richfield over the weekend. On Jan. 28, a person successfully passed a bill in the pull tab area at the VFW club at 6715 Lake Shore Drive. Two days later, an unidentified man and woman attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 at Menard's, 7701 Nicollet Ave. No arrests were reported in either case.
Cell phone thefts - Police are investigating three recent incidents involving phone thefts. A man told police someone walked up and pushed him near 63rd and Lyndale just before 7 p.m. Jan 28, then took his $600 cell phone and a wallet containing $24 and gift cards. Employees at Radio Shack, 6535 Nicollet Ave., reported a group of people stole a phone valued at $200 the evening of Jan. 30. And a Richfield man reported someone took a cell phone worth $499 from his backpack earlier in January.
Marijuana arrests - Police recorded two arrests for marijuana possession over the weekend: one after a traffic stop the afternoon of Jan. 30 at 65th and Nicollet, where a Minneapolis man was cited; the other at an apartment in the 6400 block of Pleasant Avenue, where a resident was cited for possession of 5.9 grams of marijuana.
Car stolen - Richfield police were called to investigate the theft of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am near 75th and Lyndale the evening of Jan. 20. The car, valued at $500, was left running, according to police.
Theft arrests - Police stopped three people getting onto a bus near the Hub Shopping Center the evening of Jan. 22 after employees of the Rainbow grocery store called to report a theft. Arrested were Paula Ambrose, 39, 2509 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis; Lois Turmon, 62, 1431 Oliver Ave. N., Minneapolis; and Lanard Kelly, 48, 1900 Third Ave. NE, Minneapolis. Police recovered more than $500 worth of goods from Rainbow and a nearly Walgreens.
Car vandalized- A woman called police the afternon of Jan. 23 to report someone had broken off a mirror and slashed four tires on her 2000 Saturn parked in the 1300 block of 78th Street E. Damage was estimated at $200-$300. Police have no witnesses, but the woman told them she's had trouble recently with an ex-boyfriend.
Shoplifting arrest - Richfield police arrested a Rochester, Minn., woman the afternoon of Jan. 17 after a shoplfting incident at Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W., in which clothing valued at $580 was taken. Arrested in connection with the incident was Jennifer Sonnee, 40, 931 9th St. E., Rochester.
Jewelry stolen - Police are investigating the theft of two rings and a watch valued at $2,600 from a home in the 6800 block of Nicollet Avenue on Jan. 17.
Street robbery- A woman told police an acquaintance of her grabbed clothes and perfume she was carrying valued at $390 and took off running. The incident occurred the afternoon of Jan. 19 at 64th and Queen.
Shoplifting arrests - Security personnel at the Richfield Target store detained five people in two shoplifting incidents Sunday, March 16, according to Richfield police reports. In the first, two Minneapolis adults and two juveniles were arrested after they were observed stealing an estimated $815 worth of laundry soap, clothing, blankets, a rug and other items just before 2 p.m. Police were called back about 8:30 p.m. to cite a Brooklyn Park woman after she was accused of loading more than $415 worth of groceries and other items into a cart and walking out the front door of the store without paying.
Smash and grab - Police investigated three car breakins in the same area Jan. 13 but haven't made any arrests. Thieves smashed the front passenger window of a vehicle parked in the Church of St. Peter lot in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue South about 7 p.m. A purse, iPod, makeup and other items were taken. Just after 8 p.m., police were called to the Academy of Holy Angels parking lot where someone smashed a car's passenger window and stole a purse, wallet, credit cards and a graphic calculator. A woman tried unsuccessfully to use one of the cards later in the evening, but store employees weren't able to identify her. The third incident was reported just after 8 p.m., also at St. Peter's, where the front passenger window of a car was smashed and a briefcase, checkbook and digital camera were taken.
Vet hospital burglary- About $140 was taken from a cash drawer at the VCAAnimal Care Hospital sometime during the night of Jan. 12. Police reported no signs of forced entry.
Snowblower stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a snowblower valued at $800 from a driveway in the 7500 block of 12th Avenue South the evening of Jan. 15.
Gang graffiti - Richfield police say a half dozen incidents of spray-painting vandalism reported earlier this week may be gang related. Two of the incidents occurred at apartment buildings, two others at church buildings in the city between Jan. 3 and Jan. 5. Police reports linked the graffiti to the Vatos Locos gang. No arrests were reported.
House break-in - Burglars took several objects from a house in the 7500 block of Emerson Avenue South sometime between Dec. 18 and Jan. 3. The woman who lives in the house was out of town on vacation when the break-in occurred.
Family fight - A domestic disturbance at a home in the 1300 block of 78th Street East between a boy and his mother and brother the night of Jan 5 led to the boy's arrest.
Teen beaten - Police were called to Richfield High School the morning of Jan. 5 to take a report of a child being beaten by his father. The boy had been punched in the ear and mouth the previous day, according to a police report.
$35,000 in items taken in burglary - Richfield police are investigating a burlary in the 7000 block of Oak Grove on New Year's night in which jewelry, TV sets, a computer, a camera and other items valued at about 35,000 were stolen. The burglar or burglars entered the home through an unlatched window, according to a police report.
Motel fight - Two people were injured, one was arrested and police are looking for other suspects after a fight about 4:30 a.m. New Year's Day at the Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue. Arrested in connection with the incident was Derrian Mitchell, 24, 7244 Portland Ave. S.
Car stolen - Thieves stole a 2005 silver Cadillac from the Sinclair Station lot at 7733 Portland Ave. S., during the night of Dec. 30. According to police, the owner of the car had dropped the car, valued at $8,000, at the station for an oil change and discoved it was missing when she stopped to pick it up the next day.
Woman raped - A woman who told police she only knew her attacker's first name was sexually assaulted the night of Dec. 30 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. She contacted authorities the following afternoon to report the crime.
Domestic assault - A Richfield woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with facial bruises after being assaulted by her boyfriend about 3 a.m. New Year's Day in the 7700 block of Portland Avenue South. The boyfriend left the scene before police arrived.
Jewels stolen - A woman called police the afternoon of Jan. 1 to report the theft of jewelry valued at $1,040 she said had been taken while she was visiting her family in the 7200 block of Portland Avenue South.
Assault arrest - A Brooklyn Center man was taken into custody New Year's night in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South after woman told police he hit her with several objects, including dishes. Arrested was James Potter, 22, 5712 Girard Ave. N.
Illegal drug shipment - Richfield police seized 17-pound and 18-pound packages of khat, which contains an illegal narcotic similar to amphetamine, after the parcels were delivered to the One Stop Mail Shoppe at 2200 66th St. W. Police executed a search warrant Dec. 29 and opened the packages. No arrests have been made in the case.
Another restaurant robbery - For the third time in a week, a fast-food restaurant in Richfield has been robbed. This time it was the Subway at 2904 66th St. W., where a man jumped over the counter about 7 p.m. on Dec. 28 and demanded the employees open a safe. When they said they didn't have access to it, the man took $82 from a cash register and fled. No weapons were used. No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.
Store burglarized - A burglar smashed the front door of Adom African Market, 1224 66th Street W., the night of Dec. 26 and took prepaid phone cards valued at more than $1,000 as well as cash and coins valued at about $100. No arrests have been reported.
Check fraud - A Texas man was taken into custody after employees at Bremer Bank, 6500 Nicollet Ave. S., accused him of trying to pass a fraudulent $400 personal check the afternoon of Dec. 28. Arrested was Myron Jones, 39, of Lewisville, Texas.
Garage thefts - A thief or thieves continue to plague residents of an apartment building in the 6400 block of Oliver Avenue South, where stereo equipment and a car have been stolen from the apartment garage in the past week. This time, a resident reported suffed animals were taken from her car on Dec. 27.
Employee theft - Police arrested a Best Buy employee Dec. 29 after he was accused of stealing three laptop computers valued at more than $1,000 from the company. Arrested was Douglas Wilkins, 42, 6127 134th St. W., Apple Valley
.Gunmen rob restaurants - Richfield police are investigating armed robberies last week at the Subway restaurant at Nicollet and 66th Street and the Taco Bell at Penn and 66th. In the Subway holdup, a man took about $1,500 from a safe after showing a handgun to clerks the afternoon of Dec. 20. At Taco Bell, a gunman took an undisclosed amount of $5, $10 and $20 bills from a cash register about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21 after pulling out a black, semi-automatic handgun. No arrests have been reported. No one was hurt in the robberies.
Shoplifting arrets - The Richfield Target was hit twice and the Walgreen's drug and Sports Authority stores once each by shoplifters during Christmas week. Police made arrests in the Target and Sports Authority incidents, but two women who walked into Walgreen's with an empty shopping bag the afternoon of Dec. 22 and out again with a bag full of merchandise are still at large.
Domestic asssaults - A fight between a man and wife in the 6700 block of Stevens Avenue about 11 p.m. Dec. 20 ended up with the husband going to jail. Also arrested for domestic assault was a woman who knocked out her boyfriend with a punch to the face early the morning of Dec. 24 in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue. Another woman was taken into custody about 7 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 6300 block of Pillsbury Avenue after threatening to harm her mother, the mother told police.
Car stolen - A man reported his 2003 Audi stolen from his tuck-under garage overnight Dec. 23. The victim, who lives in the 6400 block of Oliver Avenue South, said the keys were in the car's ignition when it was taken. Police reported no suspects or witnesses.
Five DUI arrests - Richfield police issued citations or made arrests in five different drunken driving incidents over the weekend, including stops late Friday, Dec. 17, at First Avenue and 67th Street, early Saturday morning at 71st and Nicollet and at 66th and Wentworth, and early Sunday at 76th Street and I-35W and in the 6800 block of Elliot Avenue South.
Domestic Assaults - Police made arrests in two unrelated domestic assault calls:
- Saturday evening in the 700 block of 78th Street, a woman told police her boyfriend choked her and threatened her with a knife. Tyree Campbell, 18, of 8920 Wentworth Avenue S., Bloomington, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
- About 9 p.m. Saturday night, police took a complaint from a woman who said her boyfriend had beaten her several times in the past year. They arrested Rickford Pollard, 44, 7626 Pleasant Ave. S., and charged him with domestic assault.
School assault - Three students at Richfield Middle School were cited for assault Thursday after an incident at the school Wednesday, Dec. 15, in which another student was beaten up.
Theft from vehicles - Police are investigating a car break-in overnight Thursday, Dec. 15, in the 7400 block of 12th Avenue South and another the same night in the 6800 block of Fifth Avenue South. Both cars sustained damage as a result of the break-ins.
Drug incidents - A St. Paul woman was issued a citation for possession a small amount of marijuana and released after a traffic stop Friday night at 18th Avenue and 73rd Street. Charges are pending against a person for possession of a crack pipe police found when they woke him up Friday morning in a car parked in the 6800 block of Columbus Avenue South.
Car stolen - A guest at Motel 6 in Richfield reported a 2005 Monte Carlo LS Coupe was stolen from the motel parking lot Dec. 17.Snowmobiles stolen - Richfield police are looking for two snowmobiles, a trailer and someone who drove away with all three in broad daylight Wednesday, Dec. 15. The trailer and its cargo were parked in a driveway in the 7200 block of Sheridan Avenue South. Police have no suspects and no witnesses.
Burglary - A woman told police someone walked into her unlocked apartment in the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue Tuesday or Wednesday and walked out with about $200 in computer equipment.
Domestic assault - Police took a boy to the juvenile detention center after he reportedly assaulted his adult sister Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, at a home in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South.
Theft from vehicle - A purse containing credit cards and $100 cash was taken from inside an unlocked vehicle in the 800 block of 65th Street on Tuesday morning, Dec. 14.
Drug paraphernalia - A 20-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia Tuesday night after a traffic stop near the intersection of 73rd Street and Lyndale Avenue South.
School fight - One Richfield student was cited for fifth-degree assault after a fight at Richfield Middle School the morning of Friday, Dec. 10. Both students involved in the fight were suspended from school.
Burglary - Police are investigating a burglary in the 6500 block of Emerson Avenue South last month in which video game equipment valued at $600 was taken from a residence. No forced entry was reported.
Domestic assault - A 56-year-old Richfield man was arrested Saturday morning, Dec. 11, in the 6900 block of Russell Avenue South after a fight between a stepfather and stepdaughter got physical. The man is accused of strangling the girl. He was charged with domestic assault.
Theft - A former employee of Distinctive Cleaners, 1321 66th St. E., is accused of taking computer equipment valued at more than $500. The complaint was filed Dec. 11. No arrests have been made.
Smash and grab - A purse and credit cards were taken from a car parked in the Jun Bo parking lot at 7717 Nicollet Avenue South sometime before 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12. The car sustained an unspecified amount of damage in the break-in, according to a police report.
Drug arrests - Richfield police reported four more arrests or citations for marijuana possession this week.
Alec Smith, 19, 7445 Clinton Ave. S., was arrested Monday afternoon, Dec. 6, at the intersection of 12th Avenue and 75th Street after a police stop.
A juvenile non-student was stopped at Richfield High School on Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, and cited for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia. The person also was issued a citation for trespassing.
Jasmin May, 28, 948 Duchess Lane, Apple Vallue, was arrested Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, at Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue.
Tina Lewis, 20, 103 Blake Road, Hopkins, was cited in Taft Park on Tuesday night, Dec. 7.
Smash and grab - Police are invesigating two vehicle breakins in the St. Peter's Church parking lot, 6730 Nicollet Ave. S., Tuesday evening, Dec. 7. A laptop computer valued at $2,000 was taken from one car and an empty purse was taken from another between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Windows on both vehicles were damaged by the thief or thieves.
Drug arrests - Marijuana was involved in four separate Richfield police reports Dec. 2-3, including one in a school building at 7145 Harriet Ave. S., where a student was cited for drug possession and suspended from school, and another in the 7400 block of Garfield Avenue South, where parents who discovered a jar of marijuana in a child's room turned the juvenile in to police.
Domestic assaults - Richfield police answered two domestic assault calls over the weekend. The afternoon of Dec. 4, a woman told police her ex-boyfriend was threatening her and destroying clothes in her closet at an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South. Police arrested Gerard McDonald, 32, 14264 43rd Ave. N., Plymouth, in connection with the incident. Just before midnight on Dec. 4, a woman called police saying she'd been assaulted while holding her infant son at her residence in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. Arrested in that incident was Dontae Peterson, 23, 7520 15th Ave. S.
Car vandalized - Police responed to a report of vandalism in a parking lot in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South the afternoon of Dec. 5. Someone had slashed a car's tires and dented its body, doing about $600 damage. No arrests were reported.
Domestic assaults - Richfield police answered two domestic assault calls ealrier this week, one in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South and the other in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South. A husband was arrested in the second incident.
Drug arrests - Marijuana was involved in five separate Richfield police reports this week. On Monday, Nov. 29, citations for possessing small amounts of marijuana were issued at 66th and Lyndale and in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South, while police arrested a man in the 7700 block of Bloomington Avenue South for a "felony amount" of the drug, according to a police report. Marijuana was also involved in two reports filed Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the 7700 block of Bloomington Avenue and the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue.
Payless Shoes robbed - Richfield police arrested two men, one at gunpoint, after a strong-arm robbery at the Payless Shoes store at 66th and Nicollet about 5 p.m. on Nov. 27. Witnesses said the men told a clerk to open the cash drawer, then fled north. Officers arrested one of the suspects at gunpoint, then found the other after setting up a police perimeter. One of the suspects had $139 in cash when caught, according to a police report. Darien Green, 24, 5812 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, and Climmey Jordon, 41, 819 Fuller, St. Paul, were arrested in connection with the robbery.
Locker thefts - A juvenile suspect was arrested after being caught on camera stealing $800 in cash from a Richfield High School student locker on Nov. 22. Two students who shared the locker set up a camera in an adjacent locker to catch the thief, according to a police report.
More car break-ins - Six more vehicle break-ins were reported during the week of Nov. 22-28 including:
- A theft in the 700 block of 78th Street East on Nov. 22 in which stereo equipment valued at $500 was taken.
- A break-in and theft in the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue the night of Nov. 22 that resulted in $300 damage and the loss of $300 from a purse.
- Damage to one vehicle and damage and theft of another in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South overnight Nov. 22.
- An attempted theft from a vehicle parked in an alley in the 6900 block of Upton Avenue South early the morning of Nov. 25.
- A break-in in the 6900 block of Vincent Avenue South reported the afternoon of Nov. 25.
Police reported no arrests in the incidents.
Car stolen - A woman told police her 1996 Honda Civic disappeared from the parking lot of TCF Bank, 6501 Richfield Parkway, the evening of Nov. 22. Police have no suspects in the case.
Burglaries - Richfield police are investigating a number of break-ins reported the week of Nov. 16-23:
- Johnston's Sales and Service at 6433 Penn Ave. S. reported burglars broke glass to gain entry to the store overnight Nov. 17. About $60 in cash was taken and damage was estimated at $1,000.
- A man working on a house in the 7500 block of Fourth Avenue South reported tools worth more than $3,000 were taken between Nov. 11 and Nov. 18.
- A mini-ATV was stolen from an unlocked shed in the backyard of a home in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South on Nov. 19.
- About $40 in cash was taken from a residentce in the 7500 block of 18th Avenue South the morning of Nov. 21. A witness saw two juveniles were seen leaving the scene.
Domestic assault - Police arrested an Apple Valley man the evening of Nov. 18 after his girlfriend told police he had threatened her with a box cutter. The woman, who lives in the first block of Pleasant Avenue South, was not injured, according to a police report.
Mugging - A Richfield man was taken to the hospital for stitches after three men assaulted him the night of Nov. 16 and stole his wallet and cell phone, according to police reports. Police arrested a juvenile and two 18 year olds: Shellvante Sandle, 7720 Penn Ave. S., and Darius White, address unknown.
Shoplifting - Richfield police arrested a man Target officials said they suspect of shoplfiting merchandise valued at $3,595 over the past month from the Richfield Target store. Police were called to the store Nov. 16 when employees detained a man they accused of concealing more than $350 worth of CDs. Arrested was Nicholas Teachout, 30, 7001 Dupont Ave. N., Brooklyn Center.
Domestic assault - A Richfield woman was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital after police were called to investigate a domestic assault the afternoon of Nov. 16. At the same time, they arrested the woman's husband, Adan Abdi, 55, 7533 Sheridan Ave. S., and transported him to the Hennepin County jail.
Camper stolen - A woman told police a camper-trailer was stolen from her driveway in the 6500 block of James Avenue S. sometime between Oct. 25 and Oct. 30. Police have no suspects.Four domestic assault arrests - Richfield police arrested four men in four different domestic assault incidents over the weekend of Nov. 5-7. The incidents were reported in the 7100 block of 18th Avenue South, the 900 block of 77th Street East, the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South and the 7600 block of 10th Avenue South.
Children sexually assaulted - A man who lives in the 700 block of 78th Street East reported Friday morning that some men he knew had been sexually assulting his young children. The younger of the children are in protective custody while Richfield police investigate.
Attempted burglary - A woman who lives in the 6300 block of Grand Avenue reported a man in a black mask attempted to break into her home about 1 a.m. on Nov. 5. Police attempted to track the suspect with the help of a police dog to a nearby apartment building but were unable to find him.
Arson at Christian Park - Police and fire units were called to Christian Park at 6900 Bloomington Avenue about 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 after a passerby saw playground equipment in the park on fire. The equipment suffered significant damage.
More smash and grabs - Richfield police are investigating two more reports of thefts from vehicles, bringing to eight the number of similar incidents in the past couple of weeks. On the afternoon of Nov. 1, a woman told police her car window was broken and her purse containing about $20 stolen while it was parked in the St. Peter's Church parking lot in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue. The following night, another car window was smashed and property including a wallet and an iPod were taken from another car parked in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South. Police have issued an alert warning drivers not to leave valuables in their cars. No arrests have been made.
Parking lot robbery - Police also reported a strong-arm robbery Nov. 1 in the 7400 block of Oliver Avenue South where a man said he was assaulted from behind while working outside on his computer. He said a man who had earlier bummed a cigarette from him came back and attacked him, picking him up and throwing him to the ground before running away with his computer. The victim described the suspect as a black man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing a light-colored coat.
Theft alert - Richfield police have issued an alert warning residents against keeping valuables in their cars after five thefts from vehicles in the past week. Thieves smashed car windows in the parking lots of two Richfield motels overnight Sunday and residents on 7300 block of Girard and the 7100 block of Knox reported belongings stolen from their vehicles last Thursday night.
Armed robbery - Police searched unsuccessfully for a man who punched and then pulled a knife on another man about 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. The man who was assaulted told police he was standing in front of his house in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue with his 3-year-old daughter when someone came up behind him and assaulted him. He said he scuffled with the man, who was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a slight build, until the attacker pulled a small knife with a folding blade. He then gave the man his wallet, according to a police report. The robber took money out of the wallet and threw it on the ground. Police conducted an unsuccessful search for the attacker, who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
Robbery - A cleaner at the Hub Shopping Center reported being punched in the face just before 11 p.m. Oct. 21 by a man who then took her credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash.
House siding damaged - Police are looking for a person who did more than $100 worth of damage to a house in the 7200 block of Fourth Avenue about 5 p.m. on Oct. 22.
Smash and grab - A thief smashed the passenger-side window of a 2012 Mercedes parked outside Kahn's Mongolian Barbeque, 500 78th St. E., the evening of Dec. 23 and stole a $600 purse, a $300 wallet, $1,500 in $100 bills, a checkbook and credit cards belonging to a 21-year-old Shakopee woman. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case.Employee theft - Police expect to charge an employee of SuperAmerica, 826 66th St. W., with felony theft for stealing more than $2,000 from the business. The company's district manager filed the theft report last last week.Boyfriend arrested- A 28-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault just after 10 p.m. Christmas Eve after his 23-year-old girlfriend told police he tried to strangle her during an argument at his apartment in the 6900 block of Penn Avenue South.Home burglarized- A burglar who kicked in an apartment door in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South on Dec. 23 got away with jewelry valued at $1,800, according to a police report. Woman arrested - Police arrested a 55-year-old "out of control intoxicated female" about 11 p.m. Christmas Eve after she pushed and slapped people in her house in the 2800 block of 72nd Street West. The woman was taken to the Hennepin County jail for misdemeanor domestic assault.

Ex-boyfriend arrested - A 37-year-old New Hope man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 18 after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home in the 7300 block of Nicollet Avenue South. The man was jailed on a burglary charge.Minivan stolen - A woman who had left her 2007 Hundai minivan running in her driveway in the 6800 block of Portland Avenue South "for five minutes" Tuesday evening came out to find the vehicle had been stolen. Domestic assault- A 32-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault Monday afternoon after an argument with his 33-year-old girlfriend at their apartment in the 600 block of 78th Street East turned violent. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.Jewelry stolen- A Richfield woman called police Tuesday morning to report that more than $7,000 in jewelry and other items had been stolen from her residence in the 6700 block of 10th Avenue South.

Shoplifters caught - A 20-year-old Minnetonka woman and a 25-year-old Minneapolis man were arrested just after 10 p.m. Dec. 16 trying to steal more than $1,000 worth of art supplies from Michaels, 66 66th St. W. Police saw the man running to the couple's vehicle in the store parking lot carring two containers of paint, brushes and other supplies. The woman was also arrested for methamphetmine possession.Truck stolen - A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck valued at $1,200 was stolen in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South sometime Dec. 16. Angry roommate? - A Richfield woman told police she thinks a roommate she asked to move out smashed her apartment window Dec. 17 and stole her $350 TV set and $20 DVD player. She lives in the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue South.Unwanted visitor- A Richfield 10th grader was cited for trespassing and underage smoking the afternoon of Dec. 16 at the Richfield Middle School, where he was trying to see an ex-girlfriend who doesn't want to see him any more, according to a police report.

Obstruction arrests - Four people, including one who kicked an officer in the face, were arrested and taken to jail after police pulled a car over early last weekend for seatbelt violations. The driver of the car, a 27-year-old Minneapolis woman, was charged later with driving under the influence. The others, two men and a woman who were passengers in the car, were arrested for obstruction and disorderly conduct after they argued with officers about the first woman's arrest. The incident took place in the 6400 block of Fourth Avenue South about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 11.Target shoplifter - A 30-year-old Coon Rapids woman was arrested the afternoon of Dec. 14 after walking out of the Richfield Target Store, 6445 Richfield Parkway, with more than $900 worth of digital movies and games. The woman hid the items under coats in the bottom of her shopping basket, paid for groceries and stopped for a cup of coffee before being stopped outside the store.Domestic assault - An argument between a boyfriend and a girlfriend just after midnight Dec. 12 in their Penn Avenue apartment resulted in the arrest of the 44-year-old woman. The man, 42, was cut above his left eye when he fell onto a glass table.Man assaulted- A 20-year-old Minneapolis man was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 14 after two or three men jumped him in the 7200 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The man, who suffered facial injuries after he was punched and kicked, told police he did not recognize his attackers.Nephew arrested - A 25-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested the afternoon of Dec. 12 after he refused to leave his uncle's apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. After asking the man to leave several times, police handcuffed him and escorted him from the building.

Man stabbed - A 27-year-old Richfield man had to be taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital for stitches the night of Nov. 8 after being stabbed in the face by another man during an argument. A 44-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to jail. The fight occured at the first man's apartment building in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South. Restaurant burglarized - Thieves broke in a window at the Leeann Chin restaurant, 6420 Nicollet Ave. S., overnight Dec. 3 and stole a $1,000 safe and about $1,200 in receipts. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case.Father arrested - A 52-year-old Richfield man was arrested the evening of Dec. 8 for domestic assault after horseplay with his 12-year-old son turned violent. According to police, the man grabbed the boy by the throat, leaving red marks on his neck. The incident occurred at a home in the 7600 block of Bloomington Avenue South. Instruments missing- A $400 xylophone and a $400 drum set turned up missing after the Richfield Symphonic Band moved equipment out of a building at 7601 Pleasant Ave. S. owned by the city of Richfield. The instruments disappeared sometime between Oct. 18 and Nov. 18. Snowblower stolen - A snowblower valued at between $500 and $700 was stolen Dec. 6 from an unlocked garage in the 7000 block of Newton Avenue South.



Woman raped - A 23-year-old Minneapolis woman was raped at the Richfield group home where she works the night of Dec. 2. Police said she knew her assailant. No arrests have been made in the case.Men assaulted - Police chased but failed to apprehend a man who argued with two older men, hit one of them in the head and them pulled a knife in a parking lot at 66th and Nicollet just before noon Dec. 1. The victims, 47 and 48, are from White Bear Lake and Becker, respectively.Husband arrested - A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail about 10 p.m. on Dec. 1 after throwing his wife onto a bed during an argument in their apartment in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South. The 34-year-old woman did not require medical attention.Domestic assault- A 57-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested in his home after punching a 55-year-old Richfield woman in the face just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 1. The woman was taken from her home in the 6400 block of Pleasant Avenue South to Fairview South Hospital.
House burglarized - Burglars stole items valued at $9,500 from a house in the 6400 block of Humboldt Avenue South on Nov. 29 after the homeowner apparently left a back door unlocked. A laptop, jewelry and designer sunglasses were among the valuables taken.
Hurt herself - A 19-year-old Richfield woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center just before midnight Nov. 30 after she assaulted and terrorized five other people who live at the same address in the 6700 block of 14th Avenue South. The woman hit her head on a floor during the incident and required medical treatment. Charges are pending.Teen robbed - A 16-year-old Richfield teen was struck in the head and robbed of his cell phone the evening of Nov. 30 behind an apartment building in the 800 block of 65th Street West. Another Richfield teenager is a suspect in the case. The victim did not require medical treatment.Cabbie stiffed- A 31-year-old Richfield man who said he didn't have $27.80 for cab fare the morning of Nov. 28 found himself in even more trouble when officers arrived to find him in possession of stolen property. Police have already started returning the stolen items, including a GPS unit, credit cards and checks and an XM radio. The incident occurred at 72nd and 18th Avenue South.

Black Friday- Christmas gifts valued at more than $1,300 were stolen from a car parked at Best Buy, 1000 78th St. W., about 4 a.m. Nov. 25. The thief broke two windows out of a 2002 Saab owned by a 55-year-old Minneapolis woman to steal the packages, which had been purchased earlier that morning at WalMart. The car sustained about $500 damage.
Burglar chased- A Richfield man who keeps a hockey stick under his bed used it to hit and chase a burglar out of his house just before 3 a.m. Nov. 25. The man heard noises in his house in the 7300 block of Fremont Avenue South and went downstairs to discover the burglar, who had kicked in a door to get into the home. Nothing was reported missing.Woman raped - A 22-year-old Richfield woman was raped in her apartment about 10 p.m. on Nov. 21 after she opened her door to a man she knew. The man fled before police arrived at the building in the 900 block of 77th Street East.Money stolen- A key lost three weeks ago may have been the way a thief got into an apartment sometime during the day Nov. 20 to steal $7,600 in cash. The apartment in the 400 block of 73rd Street East was locked, and there was no sign of forced entry.

Heroin overdose - A 54-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital about 11 a.m. Nov. 17 after police were called to their home in the 7300 block of Fifth Avenue South on a drug overdose. Officers found the woman semi-conscious in a chair and sent both to the hospital for treatment.Assault arrest- An argument over a Richfield man's dangerous driving in the parking lot of the TCF Bank branch at Cedar Point Commons the evening of Nov. 18 lead to the man's arrest for aggravated assault. The man apparently took offense when a woman in the lot criticized his driving. The two argued, and the confrontation escalated into a shoving match when two other men intervened. The man, 37, who also made a disparing racial remark during the argument, was arrested later at his home.Gun stolen - A 9mm Springfield Armory 9mm handgun was stolen from a gun safe at Hub Hobby, 6410 Penn Ave. S., sometime between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17. The gun is valued at $500.Laundry room theft - A thief turned over washing machines to remove their change dispensers in a building in the 7200 block of Portland Avenue South overnight Nov. 18. About $200 was taken. Damage to the machines was estimated at $500.

Taxi stolen- A 21-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested about 2 a.m. Monday morning after she stole a taxi. The woman was a passenger in the cab when the driver stopped to take her intoxicated fellow passenger into his house in the 600 block of 77th Street East. Police searching for the taxi found her in the driver's seat when they spotted the cab parked near 66th and Nicollet.Woman strangled- A 26-year-old Crystal man was jailed after he attempted to strangle his 31-year-old girlfriend about 12:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Richfield police responded to six other domestic assaults between Nov. 14 and 16 resulting in three other arrests.Backyard theft - A large commercial lawn mower, snow thrower, leaf blowers and a lawn edger were taken from the backyard of a house in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South in the early morning hours of Nov. 15. The loss was estimated at $5,650.Tools taken - A thief or thieves stole $1,000 of Makita power tools and $100 worth of hand tools from the bed of a pickup truck parked in the 6900 block of Washburn sometime before 10 a.m. on Nov. 15.
Businesses burglarized- Three businesses in the 6600 block of Penn Avenue South were broken into overnight Nov. 10. Thieves got away with about $3,600 worth of computers, software and other electronics and did $1,900 damage to the businesses: Hearing and Balance Specialists, Southwest Back and Neck Clinic and Scissors Salon. The burglars broke down back doors to enter the businesses and disconnected and damaged a surveillance system. 
Domestic assault - Police are looking for the ex-boyfriend of a 27-year-old Richfield woman whose face was beaten so badly she had to be hospitalized. The assault occurred the afternoon of Nov. 11 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South.Student victimized - A 16-year-old Richfield High School student told police Nov. 10 that his $490 cell phone and $399 iPod were stolen on different occasions from the wrestling room at the high school. Shoplifters arrested - A 45-year-old South Minneapolis man was arrested just after 1 p.m. Nov. 10 after stealing work boots valued at $55 from Payless Shoes, 4 66th St. Police said the same man attempted to take a CD/M/FM radio from another nearby store earlier in the afternoon. Also arrested Nov. 10 was a 23-year-old Uptown man who attempted to shoplift $15 in items from Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. He was jailed on an outstanding felony warrant.
Cars ransacked - Police are investigating seven more incidents involving thieves who enter unlocked vehicles and ransack them, usually looking to steal GPS units and cash. Monday and Tuesday, the reports came from car owners in the 6900 blocks of 14th and 18th avenues south, in the 7400 block of Lyndale and the 7300 block of Aldrich. Domestic assaults - A 22-year-old RIchfield man was arrested for kidnapping or false imprisonment after a domestic assault at his apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South on Nov. 6. In another incident, a 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South after a domestic assault involving his stepson. Stolen vehicle - A 20-year-old St. Paul woman was arrested and jailed after police spotted her in a stolen vehicle in the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue South just before midnight on Nov. 8.Window damaged - About $1,500 of damage was done when someone shot a BB-gun and hit the front window of a house in the 6800 block of Lyndale Avenue South about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8.
Teen mugged - Two men jumped a 17-year-old Richfield boy as he was walking in the 6500 block of Oliver Avenue South about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and stole his $200 cell phone and wallet. The teen was punched in the head during the attack but didn't require medical attention.Home burglarized - A burglar or burglars took electronics, watches and cash valued at $10,000 after walking into a home in the 6900 block of 17th Avenue South sometime Thursday. Police found no signs of forced entry. 
Girlfriend strangled - A 33-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed Saturday morning about 6 a.m. after he attempted to strangle his 32-year-old girlfriend in their apartment in the 1300 block of 78th Street East. The woman had red marks around her throat but didn't require medical attention.Indecent exposure - A 64-year-old Bloomington man was arrested about 7 p.m. Friday after he exposed himself in the Arc's Value Village store, 6528 Penn Ave. S.
Boyfriend stabbed - A 27-year-old Richfield man was hospitalized Wednesday night after his 32-year-old girlfriend stabbed him in the stomach during an argument. Police recovered a bloody knife from a sink in the couple's apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South and took the woman to jail. Police said the man's wounds were not life-threatening.Apartment burglarized - About $800 cash, a $500 gold necklace and a camera valued at $180 were stolen overnight Oct. 31 from an apartment in the 700 block of 78th Street East.Car stolen - A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South sometime after midnight Nov. 1. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Car recovered - A 1997 Honda stolen overnight Oct. 30 from the 700 block of 77th Street East was recovered a day later in Minneapolis.Man arrested- A 27-year-old Savage man was arrested for domestic assault after he grabbed his 20-year-old girlfriend about 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 31 at Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S. The woman was not injured, according to police.Girlfriend arrested - An 18-year-old Richfield woman was jailed the evening of Oct. 31 after she scratched her 20-year-old boyfriend and punched him in the face during an argument in an apartment in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue South.House burglarized- A burglar got away with $7,000 in cash, $2,900 in jewelry and a $100 iPod after he broke into a house in the 7400 block of Fifth Avenue South on Oct. 28. The man kicked in a garage door to gain entry. He fled when the owner came home about 11:30 a.m.Woman raped - A 38-year-old Minneapolis woman was sexually assaulted early Oct. 29 after she accepted a ride from a man with whom she had been partying. She called police from Hennepin County Medical Center reporting that she and a man she only knew as Tre were on their way to a motel in a van when he stopped near 69th and Portland and raped her.Boyfriend arrested - Police following up on a 911 hang-up call just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 29 arrested a 34-year-old Richfield man at his apartment in the 7100 block of 17th Avenue South for domestic assault. The man is accused of banging his 31-year-old girlfriend's head on a table.Car stolen- Police are looking for a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo stolen overnight Oct. 27 from a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The car is valued at $900.Kicked out - A 23-year-old Richfield man was taked to the Hennepin County jail and released after a police officer watched him use a bucket to smash a window at Frenchman's Bar, 1400 E. 66th St., about 2 a.m. Oct. 28. The man had been kicked out of the bar for causing trouble.Sex offender - Formal charges will be filed against a 21-year-old Richfield sex offender who failed to report his address to authorities. He lives in the 7200 block of Oliver Avenue South.Prowlers caught- Two 15-year-old Minneapolis boys were arrested about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 near 68th and Columbus after neighbors called police to report teens breaking into cars. Officers dispatched to the scene caught the pair, then released them to their parents pending formal charges.Teen beaten - A 19-year-old Richfield man underwent surgery for a broken jaw at Hennepin County Medical Center after a group of teenagers attacked him about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 near the Buena Vista apartments on East 78th Street. No arrests have been made, but police do have suspects in the case.Man robbed - A cell phone and $500 cash were taken from a 21-year-old Florida man who was assaulted by a group of acquaintances, also from Florida, the morning of Oct. 23 at Candlewood Suites, 351 West 77th Street. The victim told police his assailants also did $450 damage to his laptop computer. Garage damaged - A 30-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 after he and two accomplices did about $1,000 damage to a new garage door in the 6700 block of Garfield Avenue South. Parts stolen - The owner of Andon Balloons, 6418 Penn Ave. S., reported the catalytic converters were stolen out of two business vehicles sometime during the night of Oct. 25. Replacing the parts will cost $1,000.Road rage- A 38-year-old Pontiac, Mich., driver was cited for disorderly conduct during the morning rush hour Oct. 20 after he yelled at another driver and threw a water bottle at her while driving on I-494 near Nicollet Avenue. According to police, the man became upset when the 31-year-old woman from Inver Grove Heights pulled in front of the him on the freeway.Drive-by shooting - Police are looking for a white '90s Ford Explorer involved in a drive-by shooting near 16th Avenue and Diagonal Boulevard just before midnight Oct. 22. The shooting caused $600 damage to the windows of two parked minivans.Vehicle vandalism - Six more cars and trucks were damaged over the weekend by vandals who broke into the vehicles or found them unlocked. Four of the six incidents occurred between 12th and 16th avenues and 72nd and 76th streets in east Richfield.Financial fraud - A woman posing as a Western Union employee apparently scammed the owner of the One-Stop Mail Shop to the tune of $5,000 on Oct. 21. When he became suspicious, the owner called Western Union's fraud department, which was able to stop another $5,000 of additional illigitmate transfers to someone in California.Pizza man robbed- Two men robbed an American Pie pizza delivery man just before 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South, where the 22-year-old Minnetonka man was trying to make a delivery. The robbers took a small amount of money and the pizza bag and then fled. No weapon was used. The delivery man was not injured.Daughter arrested - A 35-year-old Richfield woman was arrested for aggravated assault about 9:40 p.m. Oct. 19 after threatening her 58-year-old mother with a kitchen knife during an argument. No injuries were reported as a result of the fight, which occurred in the 600 block of 77th Street East.Acquaintance rape - Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred Oct. 8 at a residence near Emerson Avenue South and 66th Street. The victim, a 31-year-old Richfield woman, reported the rape on Oct. 17.Car stolen - A 32-year-old Richfield man reported his 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South sometime the night of Oct. 18. House burglarized - A thief or thieves apparently walked into a house in the 7600 block of Park Avenue South the night of Oct. 15 and stole three iPods valued at $650 and a set of keys. The victim told police she left a side door unlocked for her daughter when she went to bed Saturday night. The daughter came home about 2 a.m., and the music players and keys were discovered missing at 10:30 the next morning.Handgun stolen - A Smith & Wesson 9mm compact pistol and its holster valued at $569 were stolen overnight Friday from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7500 block of 11th Avenue South. Police have no suspects or witnesses in the case. Car stolen- Police are looking for a 1999 Honda Civic stolen the afternoon of Oct. 13 from a parking lot in the 1000 block of 77th Street East. The car is valued at $3,000.Vehicle break-in - Items valued at $900, including a netbook laptop computer, pocket change and a library book, were stolen from the trunk of a car parked in a lot in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South overnight Oct. 12.Student assaulted - An argument on a school bus between two teens the afternoon of Oct. 14 escalated into a fight involving four people. One of the teens, his brother and another juvenile assaulted the other teen as he got off the bus near 75th Street East and 12th Avenue South. The second teen suffered minor injuries in the fight but did not require medical attention.Money drop stolen - Managers at Leeann Chin, 6420 Nicollet Ave. S., reported that $742 in receipts were stolen from the restaurant's money drop after the close of business Oct. 5. Police do have a suspect in the case.Three cited- Police caught three people breaking into cars in the 7700 block of Wentworth Avenue South about 5 a.m. Saturday. An 18-year-old Richfield man and two juvenile boys were cited for criminal damage to property and released.Vehicle break-in- Items valued at $1,425, including cash, a GPS unit and golf equipment, were stolen overnight Oct. 7 from an unlocked car parked in an alley driveway in the 6600 block of Russell Avenue South.Student assaulted - A 15-year-old Richfield Senior High School student told police an 18- or 19-year-old man punched him in the head as he walked home from school the afternoon of Oct. 7. The incident occurred at the corner of Second Avenue South and 70th Street East. The boy declined medical attention.Smash and grab - Thieves smashed out the window of a 2007 Honda parked in the 1700 block of 78th Street West about 9:30 p.m. the night of Oct. 7 and stole an Ankeny, Iowa, woman's purse. Inside were a checkbook, wallet, cell phone and credit cards. About $400 damage was done to the car. The value of the items stolen was $750, and the thieves used the credit card to purchase items worth $200. Apartment burglarized - Residents of an apartment in the 800 block of 65th Street West returned home the afternoon of Oct. 7 to find items valued at almost $2,000 missing but their apartment door undamaged and locked. Taken were a 40-inch television, a laptop computer, a Nintendo Wii game and a Playstation tablet.Guns stolen- Four antique military rifles valued at $4,600 turned up missing in a recent inventory at VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lake Short Drive. Three World War II-era weapons--two .30-caliber rifles and a 30.06 rifle--and a 1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle were stolen, according to post officials. They did not know when the guns went missing.Motel 6 assault- A 42-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested at Motel 6 in Richfield about 5:30 a.m. Oct. 2 after his 39-year-old girlfriend called police to say he'd punched her in the face. She declined medical attention.Boyfriend arrested - A 22-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assualt in his Cedar Avenue South apartment about 5 p.m. Oct. 4 after police responded to a 911-hangup call. He and his 22-year-old girlfriend were fighting, according to police.Woman assaulted - A 21-year-old Richfield woman told police three women who apparently followed her home from a nightclub assaulted her when she pulled into a parking lot in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South early the morning of Oct. 3.Boyfriend arrested- A 45-year-old Richfield man who got into an argument with his girlfriend and another woman the afternoon of Oct. 1 was arrested for assault and jailed. The altercation took place at the girlfriend's apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South.Vehical vandalized- About $700 in damage was done to a vehicle parked in the Carl Berg Radiator shop parking lot, 1310 66th St. E., Sept. 30 when someone slashed two of its tires and threw a cinder block that broke both the driver- and passenger-side windows.Domestic assault - A 40-year-old Richfield woman was not physically hurt the afternoon of Sept. 30 when her ex-boyfriend kicked in her apartment door, pushed her and stole a $400 computer, a $50 cell phone and her keys. He was gone when police arrived at the woman's apartment in the 6300 block of Dupont Avenue South.Arguing with police - Police responding to a domestic assault took a 28-year-old Richfield man to jail about 5 p.m. Sept. 30 after he refused to let them into his apartment and became argumentative. He was arrested for obstruction of justice. No domestic assault occurred, according to the police report.Drug bust- A man and a woman from south Minneapolis were arrested late Wednesday night for possession of drugs after police spotted them smoking marijuana in a car. The arrest in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South netted amphetamines, several types of pharmaceuticals used to make methamphetamine and a substantial amount of marijuana.More car thefts- Police received seven more reports of thefts from vehicles this week, most of them from cars or trucks that were left unlocked. Stereos, cash, iPods and other articles were taken from vehicles parked outside residences on Bloomington, Cedar, Elliot, Lyndale and 10th avenues.Domestic assaults - A 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested the night of Sept. 25 after kicking a 30-year-old woman in his apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South and threatening officers who responded to her 911 call. Later that same night, a 32-year-old man was arrested in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South after assaulting his 24-year-old wife.Arguing neighbors - A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail late Wednesday night after he tried to force his way into a neighbor's apartment with a knife in his hand. The two men had been arguing, according to a police report.Put it back - Police are looking for a man about 50-years-old who walked into reception area of Complete Chiropractic and Wellness, 6640 Lyndale Ave. S., the evening of Sept. 26, took money from a petty cash drawer and then put it back when an employee asked him what he was doing. The man then walked out of the office.Roommate arrested - A 40-year-old Richfield man was arrested Thursday for aggravated assault and several other charges after threatening to kill his housemate. Police said the man was holding a hammer and a knife when he threatened the life of the victim, a 62-year-old woman, the morning of Sept. 22 at an apartment in the 900 block of Rae Drive.Pharmaceuticals stolen- A Target employee is suspected of stealing about $2,700 worth of hydrocodone pills from the Richfield store's pharmacy, according to a report filed Sept. 23 Bedroom burglary - A 24-year-old Richfield woman told police she woke up shortly before midnight Sept. 22 to discover she'd been undressed and an intruder was laying on top of her. Police have a suspect, but no arrests have been made in the case.Thefts from vehicles - Police are investigating 11 reports of cars being ransacked in Richfield Monday and Tuesday night. The vehicles were unlocked in most of the cases. Small amounts of money and other items were taken. Seven of the reports came from the 7300 and 7400 blocks of Colfax, Dupont and Fremont, the rest from addresses on Second Avenue South between the Crosstown and 71st Street and the 7100 block of Third Avenue South.Deposit stolen - A man grabbed a deposit bag from a woman making a night deposit at Wells Fargo Bank, 6445 Nicollet Ave. S., the night of Sept. 19 and fled on foot with about $3,000 cash belonging to the Dollar Tree store. Business burglarized - A burglar or burglars broke into the new Andale Taquiria Mercado at 77th and Nicollet overnight Sept. 18, dumped out three cash registers and got away with $900 cash.Three arrested - Two men and a woman were arrested the afternoon of Sept. 20 after they approached a 36-year-old Richfield man in a parking lot, then stole his backpack containing a laptop, cell phone and other items valued at more than $1,500. Police located the three in a Richfield house after responding to a call from the victim and arrested a 21-year-old West St. Paul man, an 18-year-old St. Paul man and an 18-year-old Richfield woman. The theft occurred in the 300 block of 65th Street West.Soliciting sex - The mother of a teenage Richfield boy called police to report a man had solicited her son and two other boys in their early teens for sex the night of Sept. 18. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of 78th Street East. Police have a suspect, but no arrests were made.Teens fighting - Poice arrested one 17-year-old boy and detained several other juveniles after breaking up a fight involving a large number of teens about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the McDonald's parking lot on Lyndale Avenue South. The 17-year-old, who was cited for fleeing police officers, was released to his mother.Van stolen - While making a DWI arrest Sept. 16, St. Paul police recovered a 2001 Chevy Express van stolen earlier from the 7400 block of 18th Avenue South. The vehicle is owned by JJ's Outdoor Services of Edina. Business burglarized - A burglar got away with boxes and a cash register but no cash after a breaking a window and entering the Chipotle restaurant, 1830 66th St. E., about 5 a.m. Sept. 16. Dad punched - A 19-year-old Richfield man was arrested for making threats involving a gun after an altercation in the 6200 block of 12th Avenue South late Saturday night, Sept. 17. The man is also accused of punching a 59-year-old man in the nose during an argument involving the man's daughter.Champp's arrest - An argument between several patrons and a Richfield Champps bartender the night of Sept. 17 resulted in the arrest of one of the patrons, a 20-year-old Richfield man, for making terroristic threats.Seller swindled - A Richfield man who thought he'd sold his 2003 Ford Taurus for $5,700 on Craig's List found out, instead, that he'd been cheated when the buyer's check turned out to be a fake. Police are calling the incident, which was reported Sept. 14, a car theft.Husband arrested - A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed for misdemeanor domestic assault just before midnight Sept. 14 in the 6800 block of Columbus Avenue South. He is accused of dragging his 40-year-old wife to the floor and kicking her repeatedly until the couple's children called 911.Home burglarized - Police are investigating a burglary at an apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South where television sets, watches and other items valued at $4,800 were taken sometime before the morning of Sept. 14. The victim told police the thieves also took a 1996 Chrysler Sebring from his garage. Laptop pinched - An instructor at Adler Graduate School, 1550 78th St. E., reported that a $1,200 laptop computer was stolen from his classroom the afternoon of Sept. 11.Van stolen - Employees at Progress Valley, 398 78th St. E., reported the program's 1999 Dodge Caravan was stolen from its parking lot the night of Sept. 11.Man stabbed - A 21-year-old Richfield man was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital early the morning of Sept. 8 after being stabbed by a man who asked him for a ride. When the man refused the request, the assailant pulled a knife and stabbed him in the left side, then fled the scene. The incident occurred about 3:20 a.m. in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South.Tools stolen - Equipment used to find underground cabling was stolen from a work truck parked in a driveway in the 6700 block of Chicago Avenue South on Sept. 9. The tools are valued at more than $3,000. Car recovered - The owner of a 1996 Honda Accord who'd reported his car stolen from his residence in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue South the morning of Sept. 10 called police later to say he'd found the car a few blocks away.Employee theft - Formal charges are pending against a 21-year-old Target employee who is accused of stealing $563.41 in merchandise from the store at 6445 Richfield Parkway over a period of two weeks. The thefts were reported Sept. 9.Woman raped - Police are investigating the kidnap and rape of a 26-year-old Richfield woman who was forced into a car at gunpoint as she came home from work early the morning of Sept. 4. The woman said one of her four attachers held a handgun to her neck, then she was blindfolded and driven to an unknown location, where she was sexually assaulted. The men then drove her to her residence and let her go. The incident occurred near 66th and Elliot. The woman was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center. Mustang stripped - A 1999 Ford Mustang was stripped of its tires, wheels and stereo overnight Sept. 4 in the 500 block of 78th Street West. The South St. Paul couple who own the car estimate the value of the stolen parts at $4,000.Truck stolen - A Richfield man reported his 1996 Chevrolet truck was stolen from his driveway in the 7500 block of Fifth Avenue South sometime the night of Sept. 3.Ex-girlfriend accused - A 40-year-old Richfield man told police his ex-girlfriend entered his apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South while he was sleeping Sept. 4 and stole a $700 TV set, an $800 watch, a $230 laptop computer and prescription drugs. He also accused her of dousing some of his clothing with bleach, causing $400 damage.Knife-point robbery - A 38-year-old Shakopee man was robbed of his wallet and $40 just after 8:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in a parking lot in the 7600 block of Pleasant Avenue South. He told police a heavy-set man put him in a choke hold, displayed a knife and took his money.Woman strangled - A 22-year-old woman was taken by paramedics to Fairview Southdale Hospital the night of Sept.. 1 after the father of her child strangled her at his residence in the 1300 block of E. 78th Street. He left the scene before police arrived.Car tampering - Four men in their late 20s and early 30s were arrested, cited and released about 4:40 a.m. Sept. 2 near the West Virginian Apartments, 7700 12th Ave. S., after a resident spotted them tampering with cars and called police. The four--who listed Edina, Minneapolis and St. Paul addresses--denied that they'd been involved. One of the cars was broken into and CDs valued at $200 were stolen.Restaurant burglarized - Police are investigating a burglary overnight Aug. 31 at Davanni's Pizza, 6345 Penn Ave. S., where a thief apparently lowered himself into the restaurant through a roof access panel, took $53 in change and helped himself to some desserts.Suspects interviewed - Police say they have interviewed suspects and their parents in the recent rash of vehicle break-ins in Richfield. Another 19 cars and trucks were reported ransacked over the weekend, most of them left unlocked. In the most recent incidents, wallets, iPods, cash and other items were stolen. Woman shot - An 18-year-old Richfield man was arrested for felony assault just after midnight Aug. 28 when his 18-year-old girlfriend called police to report he'd shot her in the leg with a pellet gun. The incident occurred at an apartment the two share in the 6000 block of Chicago Avenue South.Armed burglar - A couple who called police to report a burglary in progress at their home in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South the night of Aug. 28 said they were confronted by a man with a gun. The robber left the scene with $80 in cash.Electronics taken - A thief entered an apparently unlocked house in the 7400 block of 18th Avenue South late the night of Aug. 18 and left with a $300 computer and a $750 high-definition TV. Officers did arrest a teenager who was trying door handles in a parking lot in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South just after 2 a.m. Aug. 27. Bobcat stolen - A loader valued at $15,000 owned by CS McCrossan Construction was stolen from the construction site at I-494 and Nicollet Avenue South overnight Aug. 25.Lawn-equipment thefts - A trailer loaded with a fertilizer spreader and a back-pack leaf blower, total value $5,700, were stolen from the back of a truck overnight Aug. 25 in the 6200 block of Irving Avenue South. Sometime Aug. 26, a riding lawnmower valued at $2,000 was stolen from a home in the 6400 block of Humboldt Avenue South.Graffitist arrested - Police have arrested an 18-year-old Richfield man in connection with more than $1,000 in graffiti damage to buildings north and west of Penn Avenue and 66th Street.. The man, who lives in the neighborhood, was carrying cans of spray paint in a backpack when police stopped him just after 10 p.m. Aug. 22 as he rode his bicyle down Penn Avenue near 65th Street.Car stolen - A 1998 Volvo valued at $4,000 was stolen from a driveway in the 7400 block of 16th Avenue South sometime the night of Aug. 21. Domestic assaults - A 26-year-old St. Paul man was arrested at his sister's house in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South just after midnight Aug. 21 after he threatened to punch her in the face. Later that day, a 16-year-old RIchfield boy was arrested in the 7000 block of 14th Avenue South after an argument with his father.Bill-changer stolen - Police are looking for a person or persons who ripped a bill changer off a wall at Colony Apartments, 1740 76th St. W., overnight Aug. 21. The thief did $500 damage removing the machine, which is valued at $1,000 and contained $300 cash.House burglarized - A laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen from a home in the 7600 block of Pillsbury Avenue South on Aug. 24. Police said no force was used to enter the home.Car break-ins - Police are investigating a half-dozen recent incidents of thefts from cars:- The afternoon of Aug. 18, a juvenile was arrested after a witness saw him leaving a vehicle parked in the 7600 block of Harriet Avenue South.- An attempted break-in was reported about 10 p.m. Aug. 18 in the 7100 block of Harriet.- A $400 Sony radio-CD player was taken from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7300 block of Fifth Avenue South overnight Aug. 18.- Thieves broke into a car parked in the 6300 block of Pleasant Avenue South overnight Aug. 18 and stole a purse containing a wallet, a money order for $779, $65 in cash, a driver's license and Social Security cards.- A wallet and a $200 iPod were taken from a vehicle parked in the 7100 block of Bloomington Avenue South overnight Aug. 19.- A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7200 block of 12th Avenue South on Aug. 20.Purse rifled - A Richfield woman reported that another shopper at Target, 6445 Richfield Parkway, reached into her purse the afternoon of Aug. 20 and stole a wallet containing her identification, charge card and $500 cash.Drinking arrests - Four teenage boys were cited for underage possession of alcohol after police broke up a drinking party in a parking lot in the 600 block of 78th Street East the afternoon of Aug. 18. They were issued citations and released to their parents.Man mugged - A 42-year-old Richfield man was hospitalized with head injuries after four men attacked him in Nicollet Park eary the morning of Aug. 15.The man told police he didn't recognize any of his attackers.Vehicles stolen - Police are investigating two vehicle thefts over the weekend. A 2005 Ford Focus was stolen overnight Aug. 13 from the 6900 block of 10th Avenue South. The owner's wallet, driver's license and credit cards were inside the vehicle. A 1990 Ford truck valued at $2,000 was taken from the 7400 block of Portland Avenue South on Aug. 16.Felony theft - A 51-year-old Dundas, Minn., man was arrested just before 1 a.m. Aug. 15 at The Transmission Shop, 6958 Cedar Ave. S., on several charges including felony theft, damage to property and possession of burglary tools.Family threats - Police arrested a 34-year-old Richfield man the afternoon of Aug. 15 after he threatened his mother with a box cutter and made threats to other members of his family.Bike stolen - A Richfield man told police his $4,035 Cannondale bicycle was stolen from a bike rack on top of his car mid-morning on Aug. 15 in the 6700 block of Elliot Avenue South.Not graffiti? - Police are investigating an incident of vandalism at Dave's Furniture, 6315 Penn Ave. S., overnight Aug. 13. The bumper of a truck was painted white and the words "this isn't graffiti" were sprayed on a wall with green paint.Gang graffiti - Gang graffiti was spray painted on 11 garages overnight Aug. 10, all on Grand, Harriet and Pleasant avenues between 67th and 69th streets. Damage was estimated at between $300 and $1,000 in each incident. Workers assaulted - A 28-year-old Bloomington man was arrested just before 2 a.m. Aug. 11 after cursing at and threatening two Richfield employees working at the intersection of Portland Avenue and 66th Street. When police arrived to investigate, they found the man being held down by the two workers. He was jailed and faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, obstruction and possession of drug paraphernalia.Car stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo from the 7000 block of Garfield Avenue South overnight Aug. 10. The car, which was unlocked, is valued at $5,000.Check fraud- A 25-year-old Richfield man called police the morning of Aug. 11 after his bank told him an $8,000 check written to his father and deposited in the son's account turned out to be fraudulent. Apartment burglarized- A Richfield man told investigators someone stole $6,000 worth of electronics, including a Pioneer DJ set-up, from his apartment in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South. The burglar or burglars apparently removed a window screen to gain access to the home on Aug. 11.Store robbed - A man walked into Radio Shack, 6535 Nicollet Ave. S., just before 9 p.m. Aug. 5 and told everyone in the store to get down on the floor, implying he had a gun. He walked out with three Playstation controllers valued at $165 and a $320 television set. Drug arrests - Richfield police executed several search warrants last week that led to drug arrests:- A 43-year-old Richfield man, a 21-year-old North Minneapolis man and a 19-year-old Golden Valley man were arrested Aug. 5 in an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn for possession of marijuana.- A 29-year-old Richfield man was arrested for possessing 3.2 grams of crack cocaine Aug. 5 in his apartment, also in the 7700 block of Penn.- A 22-year-old Richfield man was arrested Aug. 4 in his house in the 7300 block of Harriet, where police seized .5 grams of heroin. More drugs - Police investigating reports of break-ins Aug 4 in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South and Aug. 5 in the 7700 block of Penn arrested two people on outstanding felony warrants after they discovered drugs at each scene.Apartment burglary- Police are looking for a burglar who broke into an apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South on Aug. 4 and stole at $500 stereo, a $900 TV and $200 worth of quarters. The door of the apartment sustained about $300 damage.Copper stolen - Thieves who broke into a Northern Pipeline construction trailer overnight Aug. 1 got away with about $5,000 worth of copper wire and tubing. They broke a padlock to gain entry to the trailer, which was parked near Knox and 73rd Street. Teen threatened - A 53-year-old Richfield woman was arrested and jailed the evening of Aug.1 for threatening her 13-year-old son with a large kitchen knife. Police said the intoxicated woman and the boy were arguing in their home in the 7600 block of Cedar Avenue South. The teen was not hurt.Babysitter threatened - A girl who threatened her babysitter with a curtain rod during an argument just after noon Aug. 3 was arrested for second-degree aggravated assault. The incident occurred in th 6300 block of Pleasant Avenue South.Man mugged- A 23-year-old Richfield man told police a man in his 40s approached him just after midnight Aug. 2 in the 1000 block of 78th Street East and demanded his $30 Timex watch. The man took the watch and walked away.Two hospitalized - A 28-year-old man from Edina and a 34-year-old man from Richfield were hospitalized with stab wounds the night of July 28 after a fight with another man in a parking lot in the 800 block of 65th Street West. The third man left the scene before police arrived. Domestic assault - A 35-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed the afternoon of July 30 for beating up his live-in girlfriend in their home in the 7200 block of Upton Avenue South. The woman, 31, told police the two were arguing when the man hit her in the face with a closed fist, dragged her to the floor, then kneed and kicked her. Forced entry - A burglar forced open the door of an apartment in the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue South sometime before midnight on July 30 and rummaged through the home of the victim, who was out of town at the time. An ex-boyfriend is a suspect in the case.Bad lock- Police are investigating a burglary in the 2900 block of Washburn Circle on July 29 in which a TV set valued at $350 and $14 cash were taken. The homeowner told police he was unable to secure a door to the house because the key is stuck in the deadbolt lock. There was no sign of forced entry.Ambushed - Police are looking for two teenagers who used a shotgun to hold up a Pizza Hut delivery person about 11 p.m. July 24. The driver, a 54-year-old woman from Edina, was attempting to deliver a pizza to an apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale when the two confronted her, stole her cell phone and drove away in her 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. She was not injured. The phone and car were later recovered. Mugged - Three teens jumped a 24-year-old Minneapolis man in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South the afternoon of July 24 after asking him if he could break a $20 bill. They took $95 in cash from the man but were later caught. One of the boys was arrested.Robbed - An 18-year-old Richfield man was held up just after 1 p.m. on July 27 by three men, one of whom pulled a handgun and demanded money. The victim told police he gave them $178 in cash. Later arrested were a 23-year-old man from Minneapolis, a 24-year-old man from Brooklyn Center and a 22-year-old man from Robbinsdale. The incident happened on the street in the 700 block of 78th Street East.Car break-ins- Police are investigating 10 vehicle break-ins reported between July 24 and July 27 in different locations in the city. Steroes, GPS units and cash were taken in some of the thefts.Shoplifting arrest - A 30-year-old Blaine woman was arrested the afternoon of July 22 at Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W., after she shoplifted items valued at more than $700, including a GPS unit, clothing and an air pistol.Church break-in - A 19-year-old homeless man, address unknown, was taken to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon after he broke into Richfield Baptist Church, 6215 Oliver Ave. S. Bikes stolen - Two bicyles valued at $250 and $200 were taken from the backyard of a house in the 1700 block of 72nd Street West sometime after midnight July 23. That same morning, a $600 road bike was taken from a garage in the 7400 block of Dupont Avenue South. Investigators have no suspects or witnesses.Domestic assault- Police are looking for a Minneapolis man who pulled a 32-year-old Richfield woman's hair and pushed and strangled strangled her the afternoon of July 22. The woman, who lives in the 600 block of 78th Streeet West, told police the man is the father of her 6-year-old child. She did not require medical attention.Guns stolen - Thieves took three guns, one of them loaded, from unlocked vehicles in Richfield this week. Tuesday night, items including $50 in change, an iPod and a loaded handgun were taken from a 1997 Ford van parked in an alley driveway in the 6800 block of Russell Avenue South. Wednesday night, two shotguns valued at $2,900 and a wallet containing $120 cash were taken from an unlocked truck parked in the 7500 block of 13th Avenue South.Teen shoplifters - Three teenage boys were caught stealing about $1,000 worth of jewelry, clothing and other items about 7 p.m. July 19 from Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. They were cited and released to their parents.Car stolen - A Richfield woman reported her 2001 gold Pontiac Bonneville and about $2,000 worth of girl's hockey equipment that was inside the car were stolen early the morning of July 17. The vehicle was parked outside her residence, in the 7000 block of Penn Avenue South.Assault arrest - A 30-year-old Richfield woman was arrested for second-degree aggravated assault about 1:30 a.m. July 19 outside a laundromat at 12th Avenue South and 66th Street. A Richfield man at the laundroman told police the woman was screaming, yelling and waving a knife in front of his family. No one was hurt in the incident.Bicyclist robbed - An 18-year-old Richfield man headed home from work just after midnight July 15 was knocked off his bike by another man at the intersection of Lyndale Avenue and Oak Grove Boulevard. The robber took the man's cell phone, valued at $50. The man's parents took him to a hospital emergency room because he had blacked out during the attack. SUV stolen - Police are looking for a pair of car thieves who apparently traded their bicycles for a Lincoln Navigator overnight July 13. The SUV was parked in a driveway in the 6400 block of Upton Avenue South, where two bikes were left abandoned. Car break-in - A guest at Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S., reported someone smashed the passenger-side window of his rental car July 13 and stole a backpack containing items valued at more than $2,000, including a laptop computer, an iPhone charger, a polo shirt and two pair of shorts.Stereo stolen - Thieves took a DVD/CD player valued at $1,200 and an $80 airgun from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 7300 block of Penn Avenue South sometime the night of July 14.Tires slashed - The owners of two cars parked at different addresses near the corner of 64th and Bloomington on July 17 reported their front tires were slashed.Bogus bill - Police are looking for a counterfeiter who apparently washed a $10 bill and reprinted it as a $100 bill. It was deposited with other receipts from the DQ Grill and Chill, 2800 66th St. W., last month and discovered by the bank.Shoe shoplifters - Two men were arrested just after 7 p.m. July 13 after stealing several pairs of shoes from Payless Shoes, 4 66th St. W. The men, 43 and 40 years old, both live in Minneapolis.Seniors assaulted - A 56-year-old Richfield woman was arrested about 10:45 p.m. July 11 after assaulting an 84-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman, members of her family, in the 7600 block of Colfax Avenue South. The victims suffered scratches and bruises but refused treatment.Car theft - Thieves got away with a catalytic converter valued at $1,000 they stole from a vehicle owned by Value Village, 6528 Penn Ave. S., sometime the night of July 10.Salon robbed - Two men in hoodies held up SalonCentric, 6532 Penn Ave. S., just after 5 p.m. July 7, getting away with $500 cash. Richfield police said one man pulled out a large hunting knife and demanded cash from a clerk while the other held out a bag to collect the money. They fled through a rear entrance.Vandals strike - Someone using a BB or pellet gun did $800 damage to a window at the RIchfield Liquor Store at 65th and Lyndale and $700 damage to a glass door at nearby Woodlake Cleaners overnight July 4. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Man held up - A 51-year-old Eagan man was robbed as he got out of his car in the Richfield Liquor Store lot at 66th and Cedar about 8:30 p.m. on July 9. According to police, a man approached the car, said he had a gun and demanded cash. He got away with $80.Son accused - A man who lives in the 7500 block of Vincent Avenue South told police his son has been stealing items including movies, a computer-game console, a guitar and a wedding ring, all valued at more than $4,180, and has either sold or pawned them.Intruder flees - The screams of a 56-year-old Richfield woman apparently scared off a burglar about 5 a.m. July 2 in the 1500 block of 66th Street West. She told police the man, who had cut a window screen to enter her home, was fondling her when she woke up, then fled when she screamed.Check fraud - A 25-year-old St. Lous Park woman and a 24-year-old Minneapolis man were arrested the afternoon of July 1 after trying to cash a forged check for more than $800 at Ace Cash Express, 6525 Nicollet Ave. S.Employee theft - A 21-year-old Petsmart employee was arrested July 1 after admitting he falsified store receipt returns totaling more than $500 during the month of June. The 21-year-old Bloomington man was charged with theft and taken to jail.St. Louis shoplifters - Three adults and two juveniles from St. Louis were arrested about 8 p.m. July 2 after stealing about $400 worth of merchandise from the Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W. According to a police report, the five left the store and fled in a van before officers arrived but were caught nearby. A 24-year-old man, two 18-year-old women and two juveniles were issued citations and released.Gas pump stolen - Police are looking for a 1960s-era gasoline pump that was stolen from outside a garage in the 6700 block of Grand Avenue South sometime June 27 or 28. The 300-pound pump is red and white with a black base and is decorated with a Richfield Gas emblem and the figure of a falcon. It's valued at $800.Narcotics arrest - A 31-year-old Bloomington man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. June 30 for drunken driving and felony possession of narcotics. Investigators are testing the pills officers seized during the arrest near 69th and Penn.Bike recovered - Richfield police recovered a bicycle valued at $5,000 the evening of June 30 in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South. The bike was originally stolen in Minneapolis.Domestic assault - A Richfield man was arrested and taken to jail after a fight with his 22-year-old girlfriend just after 8 p.m. June 27 at their apartment in the 7700 block of Fourth Avenue South. The woman was not injured, according to a police report.Vehicle break-ins - Thieves smashed the driver's side windows of seven vehicles in RIchfield over the weekend and stole GPS systems, CD players and a $1,500 laptop. Some of the break-ins happened west of Russell Avenue between 66th and 69th Streets overnight Saturday, the others near 70th and Harriet.Teen drinkers - Police broke up an underage-drinking party the night of June 24 in the 700 block of 78th Street East, writing citations for three boys and two girls ages 15 to 17 and releasing them to their parents.Obstruction arrest - A 22-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction when officers were called to break up another teen drinking party in the 7300 block of Knox Avenue just after midnight June 25.Domestic assault - A 20-year-old Crystal man was taken to jail the afternoon of June 23 after his 19-year-old girlfriend reported he'd hit her in an apartment in the 1000 block of 77th Street East.Washington Park assault - A 36-year-old Minneapolis man told police he was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face the evening of June 23 after he confronted a man who was yelling obscenities at children in Washington Park.Home burglaries - Burglars took camera equipment from a home in the 6600 block of Irving Avenue the afternoon of June 22 and a laptop computer and a TV set from a home in the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue the afternoon of June 24. Neither residence was locked, according to the police reports.Domestic assault - What started as an argument with his son's girlfriend, ended as a night in the hospital and handcuffs for a 56-year-old man June 21. Police were called to the 7100 block of Logan Avenue around 1 a.m. after the suspect grabbed his son's girlfriend by throat and threatened to kill her. When they arrived the man barricaded himself in the garage. According a police report, he was extremely intoxicated and struggled with officers. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following the altercation. Tow truck theft - Police are looking for a thief who stole equipment valued at about $1700 from a T&T automotive tow truck between midnight and 7 a.m. Sunday. The suspect removed aluminum tow dollies, a gray jump pack and a red floor jack from the truck.Vehicle break-ins - It is unclear if a series of thefts overnight Monday were related.- A Mercedes and Infinity parked in the 6400 block of Emerson Avenue had two windows smashed. An IBM Pink Pad laptop valued at $1000 was reported stolen.- A window was broken on a van parked in the 6900 block of Emerson Avenue, and a JVC high definition radio valued at $229 was taken from the console.- A Garmin GPS worth $254 was taken from a car parked along the alleyway in the 6900 block of Thomas Avenue.- A garage in the 6800 block of Thomas Avenue was broken into. A bike valued at $800 was taken along with CD's and a book from inside a car.


Attempted burglary - Police tracked a burglary suspect to a crawl space in the attic of a house in the 6900 block of 3rd Avenue the evening of June 12th. A neighbor alerted authorities after seeing someone pull a screen away from a window and enter the home. The suspect, a juvenile, told police he entered the house to use the bathroom. School graffiti - Police are investigating an incident that occurred at the Academy of Holy Angels overnight June 12. A booster club trailer, aluminium bleachers and two areas of turf were sprayed with red and white paint causing more than $900 in damages.Bike swap - A green and silver Trek bicycle was reported stolen from the 6300 block of Wentworth Avenue the afternoon of June 15. The owner left his bike on the front lawn for only a few minutes before discovering it missing and another bike left in its place. The swapped bike had also been reported stolen and was returned to the owner.Aggravated robbery - A man was hospitalized after being struck three times in the head with a pistol around 9:20 p.m. June 18 in his Cedar Avenue apartment. The three suspects, who were known to the victim, robbed him of money, a cell phone and possibly narcotics according to a police report. The suspects have not been identified or located at this time.
Petco theft - Dog grooming and training kits valued at more than $4,700 were stolen during the day June 9 from locked glass display cases at Petco, 710 66th St. W. Police will be checking surveillance-camera recordings to see if they can identify suspects. The Fridley Petco store recently reported similar thefts. Apartment hit - Jewelry, sliverware, coins and linens valued at $5,000 were stolen from the Lyndale Avenue apartment of a woman who died May 20. The woman's daughter filed a police report June 11.Domestic assaults - Two men were taken into custody and police are looking for a third in connection with domestic assaults June 9, 10 and 11:- Police are seeking a man who's alleged to have struck his ex-girlfriend in the head with a gun and threatened to shoot her and her brother as she was picking up her children from her mother's house in the 2100 block of 66th Street East on June 9.- An 18-year-old Richfield man was taken into custody June 11 after he was accused of slapping and kicking his 18-year-old girlfriend the evening of June 10 in the 900 block of 66th Street West.- A 21-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested about 11 a.m. June 11 in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South after a drunken fight with his mother, who suffered a cut lip but didn't require medical treatment.Gun confiscated - Police took a 24-year-old Richfield man into custody June 9 after they spotted him on the loading dock of the former Kmart store and found he was carrying a gun with the serial number filed off

Gunpoint robbery - Police arrested four people the evening of June 6 after a Richfield man was robbed at gunpoint at 74th and Portland. According to a police report, a car pulled up to where the man was standing and a man pointed a gun at him and demanded he get down on the ground. The robber then took the man's wallet containing $120 in cash and his cellphone. As the car drove away, a witness relayed the car's license plate number to authorities. Bloomington police went to the address of the car's owner and arrested four people: a 23-year-old North Minneapolis man, and a 38-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, all of whom reside at the address. All were taken to jail.Projector stolen - A thief or thieves stole a ceiling-mounted projector valued at $839 from the Minnesota School of Business the afternoon of June 8. Police have no witnesses or suspects.Cars stolen - Police are investigating the theft of two cars Sunday and Monday. A 1997 Pontiac Grand Am went missing June 3 from Carhop, 6529 Penn Ave., but wasn't reported stolen until June 6. A 1995 Prism was taken without its owner's permission from the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue South on June 5.Attempted burglaries - Two homeowners reported attempted burglaries in the past week. Someone cut a window screen of a townhome in the first block of 77th Street West after midnight June 6, but fled before entering the home. And a neighbor called police when a would-be burglar was spotted trying to break into a window of a house in the 7500 block of Third Avenue South the morning of June 5. That burglar also fled.Peeping Tom - Police arrested a 27-year-old Richfield man outside a home in the 700 block of 78th Street East just after midnight June 5 after they saw him peeping through a window with his pants down. He was jailed and faces a charge of interference with privacy.Laundry theft - For the third time in a week, police are investigating the theft of laundry equipment, this time in the 1300 block of 78th Street. A building caretaker reported that the tops of two coin-operated dryers valued at $400 each and an unknown amount of change were taken overnight June 1.Aggravated robbery- A fight over money between a 27-year-old Richfield man and a group of people late the evening of June 3 ended in the man's arrest for aggravated robbery. Police answered a call in the 1000 block of 77th Street East where witnesses said the man punched a child in the chest and a woman in the face. He fled but was arrested after he jumped from the second-floor balcony of a nearby building
Bad call - A 53-year-old Minneapolis man who called police to remove a woman who refused to leave his Motel 6 room the afternoon of May 28 ended up being arrested himself for soliciting a prostitute. The 28-year-old MInneapolis woman was arrested for five outstanding felony warrants but not for prostitution.Laundry thefts- Thieves targeted coin-operated laundry machines during two break-ins in the past week, taking more than $1,000 in change and doing $1,000 damage in one and taking the tops off two dryers valued at $400-$500 in the other. The laundry-room thefts occurred May 31 in lthe 1300 block of 78th Street East and May 27 in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South.Domestic assault - A 24-year-old Crystal man was arrested after police answered a domestic violence call in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue the morning of May 27. The man had punched his 23-year-old girlfriend in the face and then left the scene. Police arrested him in a nearby building for outstanding felony warrants.Family fight - Police arrested the 21-year-old boyfriend of a Richfield woman about 3:45 a.m. May 29 after punching her father in the face in a dispute over "tissue paper," according to a police report. Assaulted police - Authorities are asking that assault charges be filed against a woman who fought with, spit on and kicked police officers who tried to remove her from a home in the 6600 block of Lynwood Boulevard the evening of May 29. Police said the woman hurt her foot kicking a squad car door and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.Bike theft - Police are looking for a person who stole a $400 mountain bike from a garage in the 6300 block of 14th Avenue South sometime the night of May 26 and left another mountain bike in its place.


Businesses burglaries- A thief either had a key or hid inside one of three businesses burglarized overnight May 21 near 66th and Nicollet, according to Richfield police. Workers at Tan Line came in Saturday morning to find a cash register on the floor and $130-$140 missing. Next door at Tii Cup, $12 in change and a digital cameral valued at $300 was taken. Eastern Buffet was hit for $1,400 in coins and bills. Police have no witnesses or suspects.Dash and crash - Two women ran out of China Garden, 4 66th St. W., without paying their $20 restaurant tab just after 8:30 p.m. May 22. They also broke a glass door valued at $500 as they fled.Woman assaulted - A 39-year-old Richfield man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic assault after he assaulted a 34-year-old woman acquaintance in the 6500 block of 16th Avenue South.Liquor store damaged - An 18-year-old Richfield man and an 18-year-old Burnsville man were arrested just after midnight May 24 when police responded to an alarm at the Richfield Municipal LIquore Store at 66th and Cedar. Glass was broken, but the men apparently didn't get inside the store.Truck break-in - The owner of a 2005 Chevy Tahoe reported someone punched out the truck's door lock and took stereo equipment, DVDs, tools and his wallet between last Saturday night and Wednesday morning. Total loss is estimated at $1,500.


Guns stolen- Burglars got away with eight pistols valued at more than $4,000 from a house in the 7000 block of Third Avenue South. The burglar or burglars broke a window in a side door of the home to get inside sometime before noon May 19. Jewelry and checks may also have been taken, according to police.Cash taken - Police are also looking into a home burglary in the 6400 block of Blaisdell Avenue South that happened sometime before May 20. Cash was taken from a safe while the homeowners were out of town. Two arrested - A boyfriend and girfriend who got into a fistfight with one another at their apartment in the 7100 block of Chicago Avenue South about 3 a.m. May 20 were arrested and jailed.ATM theft - A 24-year-old Eden Prairie man called police from the AmericInn about 2:30 a.m. May 20 to report a woman he met through a friend had withdrawn $600 from his checking account from an ATM machine without his permission. No arrest was reported.Domestic assault - Paramedics took a 20-year-ol RIchfield woman to the hospital mid-afternoon May 21 after her boyfriend punched her in the face. The couple lives in the 200 block of 65th Street West.


Teacher hurt - A teacher at South Education Center, 7450 Penn Ave. S., was taken to Methodist Hospital with a wrist injury the afternoon of May 18 after a student, a 21-year-old man from Chaska, assaulted her. No arrest was made.Child pornography - Workers at Best Buy, 1000 78th St. W., called Richfield police May 18 after they discovered what appeared to be child pornography on a computer they were scanning for viruses. Richfield police have a suspect but are still investigating.Apartment burglary - A Richfield man told police someone stole alcohol and various electronics from his apartment in the 6400 block of Queen Avenue South sometime during the day May 15. The stolen items are valued at $1,530.School theft - Police are investigating the theft of a backpack from outside the Richfield High School gymnasium the afternooon of May 17. The backpack contained a cell phone and other electronics valued at $530.


Phony bills - Richfield police arrested a 31-year-old north Minneapolis man Saturday evening after he attempted to pass counterfeit $20 bills at Little Caesar's and Dollar Tree in the Hub Shopping Center. Underage smoking - Three teenagers were issued citations for underage smoking or possession of tobacco May 12 and 13: - A 16-year-old Richfield boy and a 14-year-old Minneapolis girl were spotted smoking at 71st and Garfield by a police cadet just before noon May 12 and cited for underage smoking. - A 16-year-old Richfield boy was issued a citation for possession of tobacco about 9 a.m. May 13 in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue South.Sex-crime investigation - Child protection and Richfield police investigations have been launched after child protection workers received a report of sexual contact between a boy and members of his family who live in the 7300 block of Penn Avenue South.


Business burglarized - Burglars hit the Tastee Bakery Outlet store, 6949 Nicollet Ave. S., overnight Sunday, getting away with $1,200 from a floor safe they cut open. Police have no witnesses or suspects.Sister, sister!- Two sisters, 40 and 41 years old, injured each other during a drunken fight in the 6700 block of Girard Avenue South early the morning of May 8. Paramedics took one of them to a hospital for treatment. No arrests were made.Shoplifter arrested - A 37-year-old South Minneapolis woman, who police think may have been part of a shoplifting ring, was arrested at Menard's, 7701 Nicollet Ave. S., the afternoon of May 9 after she was caught taking more than $600 worth of power tools and walkie-talkie.Apartment burglaries - Richfield police are investigating: - a break-in May 10 at an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South where the burglar took off a screen and opened an unlocked window. Nothing was reported stolen.- a break-in reported May 11 in which the victim said a man who has been making harassing phone calls to her entered her apartment in the first block of 78th Street through an unlocked balcony door and stole her $600 TV.Automobile tampering - Police arrested a 36-year-old North Minneapolis man for tampering with an automobile after he was found inside a car that didn't belong to him the evening of May 10 at the Minnesota School of Business.


Pair arrested - She wrecked his car. He punched her out. They both went to jail. According to a police report, a 25-year-old Richfield woman hit a tree and flattened a no-parking sign near 16th Avenue South and Diagonal Boulevard about 5 p.m. May 5, then drove away. She and her 26-year-old boyfriend argued about the damage to his car, and the fight turned physical. Police matched the car to the earlier hit-and-run report while they were responding to the woman's call for help and arrested her for driving while intoxicated. The boyfriend was arrested for misdemeanor domestic assault.Hit-and-run- A 41-year-old Minneapolis man was hurt about 11:30 a.m. May 5 when an SUV jumped the curb at 66th and Chicago and hit him. Police pursued and later arrested a 57-year-old Edina man for misdemeanor impaired driving, injuring the first man with his vehicle and fleeing police. The victim was treated at a hospital for head injuries.Thefts reported - Richfield police are investigating a number of thefts reported over the weekend:- Tools valued at more than $500 were taken from a home in the 7000 block of 18th Avenue South the night of May 5.- A man who lives in the 7000 block of Third Avenue South told police his son stole thousands of dollars in jewelry and coins from his home April 30.- A camcorder and a ring valued at $700 were stolen from a home in the 7200 block of Cedar Avenue South sometime before May 6.- Jewelry valued at $3,000 was taken from a house in the 7100 block of 18th Avenue South on May 6.


Woman robbed - A woman from Forest Lake told police a man and woman stole her $200 purse containing $140 cash, kicked her out of their car and left her stranded at The Shops at Lyndale the afternoon of May 2. According to a police report, the woman had phoned the man, an acquaintance, to ask for a ride to a friend's house in Richfield.Domestic assault - A 28-year-old Richfield man was arrested and taken to jail about 8:30 p.m. May 2 after he slapped his girlfriend in their apartment in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South.Drunken brawl - Two extremely intoxicated men were taken to a hospital by paramedics after a fist fight early Sunday morning in a home in the 1000 block of East 77th Street. Both men suffered head injuries. No arrests were reported.Gang graffiti - Police answered a call reporting gang graffiti had been spray painted on walls of the vacant Lyndale Garden Center, 6412 Lyndale Ave. S.


Windows smashed - The windows of 11 vehicles were smashed overnight Thursday in the overflow lot of the Transmission Shop, 6958 Cedar Ave. S. The thief or thieves tried to steal one car, and a stereo was stolen from another. Richfield police don't yet have a list of everything taken. Thieves caught - A 24-year-old Minneapolis man and a 22-year-old man from Blaine were arrested and jailed early the morning of April 30 after breaking into a vehicle in the 900 block of Rae Drive and stealing a tire.Robber arrested - Police arrested a 23-year-old North Minneapolis man just after 7 a.m. Thursday after he attacked one person in a parking lot in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South and then fought with another man in an apartment building hallway. He faces charges of aggravated assault because he displayed a replica handgun during the crime.Aggravated robbery - A 28-year-old St. Paul man was assaulted about noon April 28 in the 2700 block of 66th Street West by two acquaintances who took $800 from the man and fled. Police later arrested two Burnsville men in connection with the robbery.Jewelry missing - A woman who moved to Richfield from Minneapolis in February told police last week that dozens of pieces of jewelry valued at $25,000 went missing sometime after her move. Boys suspended - Two Richfield Middle School students have been suspended after the CO2 replica gun one of them brought to school April 21 was used by the other to shoot a third boy in the face. The shooter told police he wouldn't have shot his victim if he'd known how powerful the weapon was.


Road rage - A 73-year-old Minneapolis man was taken to Fairview Southdale hospital Tuesday afternoon after an angry driver beat him in the head with a baseball bat. Witnesses told Richfield police a man in his 30s pulled in front of the older man's car in the 6400 block of Xerxes, grabbed him and threw him to the ground before reaching for the bat.Rental no-return - Richfield police arrested a 25-year-old Crystal woman near 64th and Lyndale about 3:15 p.m. April 26 when they discovered the car she was sitting in had been reported stolen. The woman had rented the Chevrolet HHR in Illinois but hadn't returned it. She was charged with possession of stolen property.Business burlarized - Burlgars broke a plate glass window at Hub Hobby, 6410 Penn Ave. S., overnight April 25 and stole about $1,200 in remote control items. Police will be checking surveillance video for leads in the case.Cabbie punched - A cab driver was punched when he confronted a man who tried to stiff him for a $35 fare outside Motel 6, 7640 Cedar Ave. S., about 2:30 a.m. April 24. Check forgery - Police are investigating a report from T&T Automotive, 601 66th St. E., that two fake checks, written for $4,000 each, had been cashed on the garage's business account.


Tobacco sting - Six out of 26 Richfield businesses failed a tobacco-sales compliance check Saturday, and clerks at the stores will be issued citations. Two 17-year-old decoys were able to purchase cigarettes at: Marathon Gas, 7744 12th Ave. S.; SuperAmerica, 2913 66th St. W.; SuperAmerica, 7500 Lyndale Ave. S.; SuperAmerica, 7720 Nicollet Ave. S.; VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lakeshore Dr.; and Walgreens, 12 66th St. W.Teens mugged - Police are looking for two teenagers who robbed a 19-year-old Richfield man and a 15-year-old Minneapolis boy in a hallway at The Hub the evening of April 21. A cellphone was stolen, and the 19-year-old was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital to be treated for a broken nose. SUV stolen - A black 2000 Cadillac Escalade valued at $14,000 was stolen overnight April 22 from in front of a house in the 7300 block of Aldrich Avenue South.Bogus bill - An employee at Babies R Us on 78th Street reported taking a conterfeit $100 bill the morning of April 21 from a "woman with gold teeth" who received $82 in change after purchasing a few items from the store.Domestic assaults - A woman who lives in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue suffered facial injuries after her boyfriend of two years assaulted her April 22. Another Richfield woman told police through an interpreter that her husband kicked her in the stomach the night of April 22. She was being treated at Fairview Riverside Hospital for her injuries.Business break-in - Burglars kicked in the door at the Kirby Company, 7528 Lyndale Ave. S., the morning of April 21. It's unknown what, if anything, was taken.


$40,000 burglary - More than 300 smart phones and other electronics with a total value of $40,000 were stolen just after 1 a.m. Tuesday from a storeroom at the Verizon Store, 1732 66th St. E. Police are reviewing security video for clues about who the burglars might have been. There was no sign of forced entry to the store. Homes burglarized - Richfield police are investigating two other burglaries:- Items valued at more than $1,600, including a video-game system, a flat-screen TV and jewelry, were taken from a home in the 800 block of 65th Street the moring or early afternoon of April 18. The burglar or burglars kicked in a door to enter the house.- There were no indications of forced entry to a home in the first block of 77th Street West burglarized April 20. Two laptop computers valued at $1,500 and two purses valued at $330 were taken. Wheelchair theft - Police are investigating the theft April 19 of a $4,000-$5,000 wheelchair from the Richfield Bloomington Health Care Center, 7727 Portland Ave. S.Refund stolen - A Richfield woman told police Tuesday she suspects a person in Illinois who prepared her 2010 income taxes pocketed her $1,799 federal income tax refund.


Car stolen - A used-car test drive turned into a car theft the afternoon of April 14 when a New Hope man gave the keys of his white 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt to a man who said he wanted to buy the car. The owner called Richfield police when the thief hadn't returned after several hours. Upset mom - A 15-year-old Bloomington boy could face charges for driving away from a Richfield business in a car owned by his 14-year-old girlfriend's mother. The woman called police about 3 p.m. April 16 from Petco on 66th Street to report the teen and the girl had taken the car and left her in the store. The boy later returned the 2002 Honda Accord, but the mom told police she still wants to press charges. He was released pending his cooperation with the Richfield Special Investigation Unit. Domestic assault - A 34-year-old Richfield man was arrested and jailed the evening of April 16 after police were called to his home in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South on a report of domestic assualt. The man's wife told police he had grabbed her arm and scratched her during an argument.Drunken drivers - Police made four arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol between April 14 and April 17:- A 60-year-old Edina man was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 3000 of 66th Street and taken to jail.- A 31-year-old Richfield man was arrested near 60th and Pleasant Friday night and jailed.- A 58-year-old Richfield man was booked and taken home after his arrest at 74th and Nicollet early Saturday morning.- A 42-year-old MInneapolis man was cited and released after being stopped early Sunday morning near 62nd and Portland.


Making meth? - A St. Francis, Ark., couple was arrested at the Richfield Motel 6 the afternoon of April 12 and charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Police reportedly seized chemicals used to make meth, tubing and other equipment. They also confiscated a small amount of marijuana and white powder.Mom jailed - The 24-year-old Minneapolis woman who was sharing a room with the Arkansas couple was arrested the morning of April 13 on a felony warrant from Dakota County. Police took her to the Hennepin County jail after they called her mother to come and take custody of the woman's two small children. Car break-in - Police are investigating the theft of property and the Iowa license plates from a 1967 Chrysler 300 that was broken into sometime before April 12. The car had been parked at the Candlewood Inn, 345 77th St. W., for some time while the owner was traveling. The thief apparently tried unsuccessfully to hotwire the car.


Gang assault - An 18-year-old Richfield man was taken to Fairview Southdale hospital to get stitches inside his mouth after being hit in the face with a shovel April 6. He identified his attackers as a goup of Asian Bloods gang members. The incident occurred at 72nd and Bloomington, according to the police report. Equipment stolen - Richfield police are investigating the theft of a dolly valued at $1,200 and magnetic tow lights valued at $450 from T&T Automotive, 601 66th Street E., sometime the night of April 7. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Attempted carjacking - A man who tried unsuccessfully to steal a vehicle with two people inside the night of April 8 apparently gave up and ran away, according to a police report. The driver, from Minneapolis, and a passenger in his Chevy pickup truck were not injured during the incident near 2nd Avenue South and 65th Street East.Woman assaulted - A woman who refused to leave a man's apartment in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South about 3 a.m. April 9 was treated for minor injuries by paramedics and then taken to Regions Hospital. She told police the man hit her with his fist in the head and eye several times. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.


Strong-arm robbery - A Minneapolis woman was pushed from behind, knocked to the ground and robbed of $950 cash about 8 p.m. April 4 outside the Richfield Liquor Store at Lyndale Avenue and 65th Street. Paramedics treated the woman, 48, for a head injury, but she declined a trip to the hospital. Car stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a green two-door Honda Civic from the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue South. The car was stolen between noon April 2 and 10 a.m. April 3, the owner reported. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Check fraud - Employees at Crystal Care Home Health, 6461 Lyndale Ave. S., told police April 6 that someone had written and cashed about $4,000 in checks on a company account without authorization. None of the check recipients were familiar to company officials.Assault reported - A Richfield woman told police three girls and a woman attacked her as she sat on the front steps of her apartment building in the 6600 block of Queen Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The suspects fled before police arrived.


Road rage - A Minneapolis teen reported a car full of guys threw pocket change that damaged her Lexus during a road-rage incident near Lyndale and 65th Street about 11:30 p.m. April 2. The girl told Richfield police the car cut her off, then began following her after she honked her horn. The men in the blue or gray Buick started throwing objects at her car, including a water bottle and, finally, coins.Gunfire arrest - A 76-year-old Lakeville man was arrested and jailed Thursday afternoon after police investigated a report of gunshots. The man, who was visiting his girlfriend in the 7300 block of Grand Avenue, at first said he was shooting off firecrackers, then admitted he'd fired a .22-caliber handgun. Sexual assault - A 30-year-old Minneapolis man who invited a 20-year-old Wisconsin woman to his room at the Motel 6 in Richfield Wednesday night ended up in jail Thursday morning. The woman called police about 7:45 a.m. Thursday saying she ran out of the room when the man, whom she'd met in downtown Minneapolis this night before, tried to put his hand in her pants. Smash and grab - Richfield police are investigating two incidents in which thieves smashed driver's side car windows and stole CD players. The incidents happened overnight Wednesday in the 6400 block of 14th Avenue South and the 6000 block of 16th Avenue South.


Unhappy ending - A rendezvous arranged through an online dating site ended in the arrest of a 21-year-old Richfield man and the alleged theft of $400 from his date's wallet. The victim, a 53-year-old man from Champlin, called police to the 21 year old's apartment in the 6500 block of 16th Avenue South about 7:30 a.m. March 28 to report the $400, his gloves and sunglasses had been stolen. Police arrested the younger man for obstruction of the legal process. The gloves and sunglasses were recovered, but the cash was not.Stolen card - A Richfield man called police March 28 to accuse his ex-girlfriend of stealing his debit card during a recent stay at his home in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South and using it to go on a $4,120, two-day spending spree.Illegal relationship - A Richfield girl and her parents went to the police station March 29 to report that she'd had a sexual relationship when she was 14 with a 19-year-old RIchfield man. Gang graffiti - Police questioned but didn't arrest a pair of teens they thnk spray painted gang graffiti on a brick wall at Washington Park the night of March 28. Those two boys and three others are suspects in the case.


Robbery foiled - Two masked robbers had to drive away without the purse they tried to snatch in broad daylight Friday afternoon, March 25. The near-victim told police the men approached her as she got out of her car in a parking lot in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South about 2:15 p.m. and tried to take the purse, but she resisted and started yelling. The men fled the scene before police and paramedics arrived. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries to her arm and wrist.Jewelry stolen - A Richfield woman told police someone took several pieces of jewelry valued at $3.650 from her home in the 6200 block of Oliver Avenue South sometime between March 24 and Valentine's Day. Roomate suspected - A woman who'd had a male roommate removed from her home in the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue earlier this month told police three gold rings and a coin collection valued at $975 disappeared in the past week. Police do not have an address for the ex-roommate. Drunken driving - Police arrested two drunken drivers early the morning of March 27. - A 26-year-old Richfield woman was arrested at 62nd and Portland and released just after midnight.- A 34-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail and released after being stopped at 78th and Nicollet about 2 a.m.


Puppies stolen - Richfield police are investigating the March 11 theft of two puppies from a van parked in the 7600 block of 18th Avenue South. The thieves also took about $1,500 in personal items. The dogs were valued at $90.Library theft - A laptop worth $1,312 was stolen from the after-school program area of Hennepin County Public Library branch in Richfield the evening of March 7. The computer has a Hennepin County property tag. The theft was reported March 10.Daughter arrested - An 18-year-old Richfield woman was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Friday after her mother asked her to leave the family home and she refused. Police were called to the house in the 6700 block of 14th Avenue South, and the woman became violent when they tried to remove her, according to a police report.Storage breakin - Several storage units in the 200 block of 78th Street West were burglarized sometime before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, and several items were stolen, including a love seat valued at $1,000.


Caught shoplifting - Richfield police cited and released a 40-year-old Minneapolis woman after employees at Babies"R"Us, 900 78th St. W., saw her shoplifting about 10:30 a.m. March 9. Clothing valued at about $365 was recovered.Juveniles arrested - Three Richfield teens were arrested for curfew violations and tampering with vehicles after they admitted to police they were trying to break into cars in the 6400 block of Newton Avenue South just after midnight March 7. Car stolen - A Richfield resident who lives in the 1300 block of 78th Street East told police someone stole his 2000 Mazda 626 valued at $2,000 from in front of his house the afternoon of March 7. The car was unlocked and left running. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Drunken driving arrests - A 26-year-old North Minneapolis man was arrested for driving under the influence early the morning of March 8 at 66th and Nicollet.



Home burglaries - Richfield police are looking for a man who witnesses say ransacked and burglarized two apartments in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South the afternoon of March 3. TV sets and other items valued at $1,215 were taken. Damage of about $1,000 was reported. In another incident, a homeowner in the 6600 block of 16th Avenue South reported two TVs, a camera and a purse valued at $1,400 were taken during a breakin March 5.Wife threatened - A Richfield man was arrested the afternoon of March 5 after his 14-year-old daughter called 911 to report her stepfather was threatening her mother with scissors and a knife. The woman and her three children locked themselves in the bathroom of their home in the 1300 block of East 78th Stree until police arrived.Domestic assault - Police are looking for a man whose ex-girlfriend reported he'd threatened her with a knife and a bottle and choked her about 2:30 a.m. March 6 in an apartment in the 200 block of West 65th Street.Drunken driving arrests - Officers made three arrrests for driving under the influence over the weekend:- A 62-year-old Richfield man was stopped at 74th and Emerson about 11:30 p.m. Thursday and taken to jail after failing a sobriety test.- A 23-year-old Glencoe woman was arrested after her car hit another car at the SuperAmerica station at 7720 Nicollet Ave. S. about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and she drove away. She was arrested later in Bloomington.- A 44-year-old Richfield man was arrested Sunday afternoon at 70th and Portland Avenue South. 
School fight - A cafeteria fight at the Secondary Education Center at 7450 Penn Ave. S. on Monday, Feb 28, sent a man to the hospital with facial injuries and resulted in two arrests. A juvenile male will be charged with aggravated assault and the 19-year-old Minneapolis man who was injured was arrested for disorderly conduct. Both were students at the school, according to a police report.Assault arrest - A 30-year-old Richfield group-home resident was arrested for assault and taken to jail Monday evening after threatening a staff member with a knife and hitting her in the face. The group home is in the 7500 block of Stevens Avenue South.Wrenches stolen - A man reported two impact wrenches valued at $700 each were taken Monday night from his vehicle at the Sinclair service station at 7735 Portland Ave. S. 
Businesses burglarized - Richfield police are investigating breakins the morning of Feb. 24 at three businesses in the 6400 block of Penn Avenue South. Burglars apparently cut a hole in a door that led to a common hallway, then cut more holes to enter Hub Hobby, Acadia Candles and Crisis Connection. The burglar or burglars took about $250 from cash registers at the hobby shop, but nothing was reported stolen from the other two businesses. Domestic assaults - Four incidents of domestic assault were reported since Thursday:- A 13-year-old girl was assaulted just before 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the 600 block of 78th Street East. A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested in the incident.- A brother punched his sister in the face twice, then threatened her with a large statue and a knife Thursday afternoon in the 7000 block of Cedar Avenue before fleeing in his car. No arrests were reported.- A 46-year-old Richfield man was taken to jail after assaulting his wife and then his daughter and the daughter's boyfriend as they came to her aid about 2:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25. The fight occured in a home in the 7000 block of Elliot Avenue South.- A 30-year-old homeless man was taken to jail Sunday morning after beating up his girlfriend in her apartment in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South.Pair arrested - Police arrested two Richfield men, 20 and 21, after they were caught tampering with vehicles parked in a lot in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue about 11:20 p.m. Feb. 24.Purse thefts - A woman reported someone took $120 cash and a debit card from her purse while she was shopping at Rainbow Foods, 140 66th St. W., the evening of Feb. 25. The next day, another woman lost $500-$600 from her purse while she was shopping at the Target store on RIchfield Parkway. No arrests were made in either case. 
Girl raped - Richfield police are investigating the physical and sexual assault of a Richfield girl reported by child protection workers early the morning of Feb. 17. The girl was taken to St. Joseph's child protection services and put under a child-protection hold. Her father is a suspect, according to the police report. Drunken driving arrests - Three adults and a juvenile were arrested for driving under the influence in separate incidents Friday and Saturday. - A Minneapolis man was stopped at Cedar Avenue and Diagonal Boulevard at 1:45 p.m. Friday, charged and taken to jail.- A juvenile arrested about 1:45 s.m. Saturday at 64th and Penn was cited for underage drinking and driving.- A 61-year-old Richfield woman who was refused service at the Richfield Liquor Store about 9:30 Saturday morning because she was intoxicated was arrested for drunken driving a short time later near 64th and Lyndale.- A 28-year-old Mound man was arrested just after 4 p.m. Saturday at 66th Street and Pleasant Avenue.Stolen vehicle - Police arrested a Ponsford man the morning of Feb. 19 after spotting him in a vehicle parked at Veterans' Park. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and a felony parole violation and taken to the Hennepin County Jail. Family fraud - Family members of an elderly Richfield resident filed a fraud complaint against another family member Feb. 18 alleging the person stole more than $800,000 through credit card fraud and illegal electronic financial transfers. No arrest was reported.Tires slashed - A man told police a former girlfriend might have been the person who slashed the tires of his car a day or two after Valentine's Day. The car was parked in a lot in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. 
Swindled - Two men have been arrested after they convinced an elderly Richfield man he owed them almost $9,000 for home repair and snow removal work. According to police, the two were paid $810 to do some work for the man earlier this week but came back Feb. 16 demanding an additional $8,000, "helping him" write the check. Plymouth police arrested the pair as they tried to pass the check at a Plymouth bank.Domestic assualt - A fight between an Eagan woman and her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend in the Richfield Motel 6 parking lot just after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning resulted in the man's arrest. The woman was injured but didn't require medical treatment.Kids did it? - Theives broke into a home in the 7300 block of 18th Avenue South sometime Tuesday morning or early afternoon and took items valued at about $4,700, including two Playstation game consoles, a laptop computer and $300 in cash. Police suspect juveniles who live in the neighborhood.Gang graffiti - The manager of an apartment complex in the 900 block of 77th Street East estimates it will cost more than $1,000 to clean up Los Vatos gang graffiti painted on several buildings overnight Tuesday.Bad break-up - Police were called to remove a 21-year-old man from an apartment he shared with his girlfriend on 78th Street West the night of Feb. 16 after he allegedly damaged clothing, a bed and a television set in the apartment during an argument. The man was later arrested for causing more than $1,000 in damage to property.
High-speed pursuit - Police arrested an 18-year-old West. St. Paul man in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 after a high-speed car chase through Richfield. According to a police report, an officer pulled over a Ford SUV occupied by a number of people for a traffic stop at 70th and Nicollet about 1:45 a.m. When the vehicle came back as stolen after a computer check, the driver sped away. The ensuing chase ended on 12th Avenue South, where the driver jumped out of the car and ran to a neaby driveway and was tackled by the officer. The man was arrested for fleeing an officer, taken to a hospital for treatment of facial wounds and then on to jail.Domestic assualt - A 42-year-old Richfield man was arrested for domestic assault the evening of Feb. 11 after allegedly beating up his girlfriend, who sustain minor bruises. The incident occured in an apartment in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue South.Indecent exposure - A woman called police just after 4 a.m. on Feb. 12 to report her neighbor in an apartment building in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South had knocked on her door, then exposed himself when she opened it. The 39-year-old man was charged with a misdemeanor. Counterfeit $20 - A man from North Minneapolis and another from Brooklyn Park were arrested the afternoon of Feb. 7 after attempting to pass a bogus $20 bill at the Marathon Gas Station on 12th Avenue South. 
Drunk at school - Four Richfield Senior High students who returned to school from lunch with alcohol on their breath Feb. 4 were charged by police with underage drinking and disciplined by school authorites. Drunk at the wheel - Richfield police arrested three people over the weekend for driving while intoxicated:- About 8 p.m. Feb. 4, a 41-year-old Bloomington man failed a sobriety test at 74th Street and Penn Avenue;- Just before 1 a.m. Feb 5, a 33-year-old northeast Minneapolis man failed a sobriety test at 74th and Lyndale Avenue:- At 7 a.m. on Feb. 6, a 28-year-old Richfield woman was stopped after failing to yield to a vehicle at East 66th Street and Third Ave. S.All three were taken to jail.Smash and grab - A Richfield resident reported the theft of a $300 iPod and $200 damage to his 2007 Chevy Silverado when thieves broke into the vehicle the morning of Feb. 3 in the 700 block of W. 78th Street. About 7 p.m. the same day, a Richfield High student reported that a credit card and items valued at $700 were taken when his vehicle was broken into in the high school parking lot.Vandalism arrest - Police charged a 26-year-old Richfield woman with criminal damage to propery for smashing the windows out of a Dodge Durango in a parking lot in the 700 block of W. 78th Street the morning of Feb. 3. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
Attempted robbery - Richfield police are looking for a woman who walked into Fantastic Sam's hair salon on 66th Street the afternoon of Feb. 2 and struggled with employees before she fled. According to a police report, the woman initially asked for change, then tried to force her way behind a counter while she threatened employees. No weapons were used and nothing was taken in the incident.Missing rent - Managers at the Buena Vista apartments on 77th Street called police after a money order for $845 from a resident came up missing this week. The company that issued the money order said someone from Buena Vista had cashed it, but the managers said that wasn't the case. Police have no suspects or witnesses.Aide accused of theft - A man who lives in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue has accused his former personal care attendant of stealing cash, clothing, DVDs and CDs valued at about $850 from him. He told police Feb. 1 that the woman had moved into his home with his permission and stole the items after he asked her to move out. No arrests were reported in connection with the incident.Marijuana arrest - A 21-year-old Minneapolis man cited for drug possession and released about 11 a.m. Feb. 1 after a police narcotics dog led officers to a room at the Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue where the man had been smoking marijuana. 
Drug busts - Working with a confidential informant, Richfield police investigators made two arrests Jan. 24 at the Richfield Motel 6. A 48-year-old North Minneapolis man was arrested just after noon for possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Hennepin County jail. A 35-year-old man, also from North Minneapolis, was caught with crack cocaine later in the day, detained and released. Counterfeit $100s - Police received two reports of people trying to pass bogus $100 bills in Richfield over the weekend. On Jan. 28, a person successfully passed a bill in the pull tab area at the VFW club at 6715 Lake Shore Drive. Two days later, an unidentified man and woman attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 at Menard's, 7701 Nicollet Ave. No arrests were reported in either case.Cell phone thefts - Police are investigating three recent incidents involving phone thefts. A man told police someone walked up and pushed him near 63rd and Lyndale just before 7 p.m. Jan 28, then took his $600 cell phone and a wallet containing $24 and gift cards. Employees at Radio Shack, 6535 Nicollet Ave., reported a group of people stole a phone valued at $200 the evening of Jan. 30. And a Richfield man reported someone took a cell phone worth $499 from his backpack earlier in January.Marijuana arrests - Police recorded two arrests for marijuana possession over the weekend: one after a traffic stop the afternoon of Jan. 30 at 65th and Nicollet, where a Minneapolis man was cited; the other at an apartment in the 6400 block of Pleasant Avenue, where a resident was cited for possession of 5.9 grams of marijuana. 
Car stolen - Richfield police were called to investigate the theft of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am near 75th and Lyndale the evening of Jan. 20. The car, valued at $500, was left running, according to police.Theft arrests - Police stopped three people getting onto a bus near the Hub Shopping Center the evening of Jan. 22 after employees of the Rainbow grocery store called to report a theft. Arrested were Paula Ambrose, 39, 2509 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis; Lois Turmon, 62, 1431 Oliver Ave. N., Minneapolis; and Lanard Kelly, 48, 1900 Third Ave. NE, Minneapolis. Police recovered more than $500 worth of goods from Rainbow and a nearly Walgreens.Car vandalized- A woman called police the afternon of Jan. 23 to report someone had broken off a mirror and slashed four tires on her 2000 Saturn parked in the 1300 block of 78th Street E. Damage was estimated at $200-$300. Police have no witnesses, but the woman told them she's had trouble recently with an ex-boyfriend.
Shoplifting arrest - Richfield police arrested a Rochester, Minn., woman the afternoon of Jan. 17 after a shoplfting incident at Sports Authority, 1150 78th St. W., in which clothing valued at $580 was taken. Arrested in connection with the incident was Jennifer Sonnee, 40, 931 9th St. E., Rochester.Jewelry stolen - Police are investigating the theft of two rings and a watch valued at $2,600 from a home in the 6800 block of Nicollet Avenue on Jan. 17. Street robbery- A woman told police an acquaintance of her grabbed clothes and perfume she was carrying valued at $390 and took off running. The incident occurred the afternoon of Jan. 19 at 64th and Queen.
Shoplifting arrests - Security personnel at the Richfield Target store detained five people in two shoplifting incidents Sunday, March 16, according to Richfield police reports. In the first, two Minneapolis adults and two juveniles were arrested after they were observed stealing an estimated $815 worth of laundry soap, clothing, blankets, a rug and other items just before 2 p.m. Police were called back about 8:30 p.m. to cite a Brooklyn Park woman after she was accused of loading more than $415 worth of groceries and other items into a cart and walking out the front door of the store without paying.Smash and grab - Police investigated three car breakins in the same area Jan. 13 but haven't made any arrests. Thieves smashed the front passenger window of a vehicle parked in the Church of St. Peter lot in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue South about 7 p.m. A purse, iPod, makeup and other items were taken. Just after 8 p.m., police were called to the Academy of Holy Angels parking lot where someone smashed a car's passenger window and stole a purse, wallet, credit cards and a graphic calculator. A woman tried unsuccessfully to use one of the cards later in the evening, but store employees weren't able to identify her. The third incident was reported just after 8 p.m., also at St. Peter's, where the front passenger window of a car was smashed and a briefcase, checkbook and digital camera were taken. Vet hospital burglary- About $140 was taken from a cash drawer at the VCAAnimal Care Hospital sometime during the night of Jan. 12. Police reported no signs of forced entry.Snowblower stolen - Police are investigating the theft of a snowblower valued at $800 from a driveway in the 7500 block of 12th Avenue South the evening of Jan. 15.
Gang graffiti - Richfield police say a half dozen incidents of spray-painting vandalism reported earlier this week may be gang related. Two of the incidents occurred at apartment buildings, two others at church buildings in the city between Jan. 3 and Jan. 5. Police reports linked the graffiti to the Vatos Locos gang. No arrests were reported.House break-in - Burglars took several objects from a house in the 7500 block of Emerson Avenue South sometime between Dec. 18 and Jan. 3. The woman who lives in the house was out of town on vacation when the break-in occurred.Family fight - A domestic disturbance at a home in the 1300 block of 78th Street East between a boy and his mother and brother the night of Jan 5 led to the boy's arrest.Teen beaten - Police were called to Richfield High School the morning of Jan. 5 to take a report of a child being beaten by his father. The boy had been punched in the ear and mouth the previous day, according to a police report.
$35,000 in items taken in burglary - Richfield police are investigating a burlary in the 7000 block of Oak Grove on New Year's night in which jewelry, TV sets, a computer, a camera and other items valued at about 35,000 were stolen. The burglar or burglars entered the home through an unlatched window, according to a police report.Motel fight - Two people were injured, one was arrested and police are looking for other suspects after a fight about 4:30 a.m. New Year's Day at the Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue. Arrested in connection with the incident was Derrian Mitchell, 24, 7244 Portland Ave. S.Car stolen - Thieves stole a 2005 silver Cadillac from the Sinclair Station lot at 7733 Portland Ave. S., during the night of Dec. 30. According to police, the owner of the car had dropped the car, valued at $8,000, at the station for an oil change and discoved it was missing when she stopped to pick it up the next day.Woman raped - A woman who told police she only knew her attacker's first name was sexually assaulted the night of Dec. 30 in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. She contacted authorities the following afternoon to report the crime.Domestic assault - A Richfield woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with facial bruises after being assaulted by her boyfriend about 3 a.m. New Year's Day in the 7700 block of Portland Avenue South. The boyfriend left the scene before police arrived.Jewels stolen - A woman called police the afternoon of Jan. 1 to report the theft of jewelry valued at $1,040 she said had been taken while she was visiting her family in the 7200 block of Portland Avenue South.Assault arrest - A Brooklyn Center man was taken into custody New Year's night in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South after woman told police he hit her with several objects, including dishes. Arrested was James Potter, 22, 5712 Girard Ave. N.
Illegal drug shipment - Richfield police seized 17-pound and 18-pound packages of khat, which contains an illegal narcotic similar to amphetamine, after the parcels were delivered to the One Stop Mail Shoppe at 2200 66th St. W. Police executed a search warrant Dec. 29 and opened the packages. No arrests have been made in the case.Another restaurant robbery - For the third time in a week, a fast-food restaurant in Richfield has been robbed. This time it was the Subway at 2904 66th St. W., where a man jumped over the counter about 7 p.m. on Dec. 28 and demanded the employees open a safe. When they said they didn't have access to it, the man took $82 from a cash register and fled. No weapons were used. No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.Store burglarized - A burglar smashed the front door of Adom African Market, 1224 66th Street W., the night of Dec. 26 and took prepaid phone cards valued at more than $1,000 as well as cash and coins valued at about $100. No arrests have been reported.Check fraud - A Texas man was taken into custody after employees at Bremer Bank, 6500 Nicollet Ave. S., accused him of trying to pass a fraudulent $400 personal check the afternoon of Dec. 28. Arrested was Myron Jones, 39, of Lewisville, Texas.Garage thefts - A thief or thieves continue to plague residents of an apartment building in the 6400 block of Oliver Avenue South, where stereo equipment and a car have been stolen from the apartment garage in the past week. This time, a resident reported suffed animals were taken from her car on Dec. 27.Employee theft - Police arrested a Best Buy employee Dec. 29 after he was accused of stealing three laptop computers valued at more than $1,000 from the company. Arrested was Douglas Wilkins, 42, 6127 134th St. W., Apple Valley
.Gunmen rob restaurants - Richfield police are investigating armed robberies last week at the Subway restaurant at Nicollet and 66th Street and the Taco Bell at Penn and 66th. In the Subway holdup, a man took about $1,500 from a safe after showing a handgun to clerks the afternoon of Dec. 20. At Taco Bell, a gunman took an undisclosed amount of $5, $10 and $20 bills from a cash register about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21 after pulling out a black, semi-automatic handgun. No arrests have been reported. No one was hurt in the robberies.Shoplifting arrets - The Richfield Target was hit twice and the Walgreen's drug and Sports Authority stores once each by shoplifters during Christmas week. Police made arrests in the Target and Sports Authority incidents, but two women who walked into Walgreen's with an empty shopping bag the afternoon of Dec. 22 and out again with a bag full of merchandise are still at large.Domestic asssaults - A fight between a man and wife in the 6700 block of Stevens Avenue about 11 p.m. Dec. 20 ended up with the husband going to jail. Also arrested for domestic assault was a woman who knocked out her boyfriend with a punch to the face early the morning of Dec. 24 in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue. Another woman was taken into custody about 7 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 6300 block of Pillsbury Avenue after threatening to harm her mother, the mother told police.Car stolen - A man reported his 2003 Audi stolen from his tuck-under garage overnight Dec. 23. The victim, who lives in the 6400 block of Oliver Avenue South, said the keys were in the car's ignition when it was taken. Police reported no suspects or witnesses. 
Five DUI arrests - Richfield police issued citations or made arrests in five different drunken driving incidents over the weekend, including stops late Friday, Dec. 17, at First Avenue and 67th Street, early Saturday morning at 71st and Nicollet and at 66th and Wentworth, and early Sunday at 76th Street and I-35W and in the 6800 block of Elliot Avenue South.
Domestic Assaults - Police made arrests in two unrelated domestic assault calls:- Saturday evening in the 700 block of 78th Street, a woman told police her boyfriend choked her and threatened her with a knife. Tyree Campbell, 18, of 8920 Wentworth Avenue S., Bloomington, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated assault in connection with the incident.- About 9 p.m. Saturday night, police took a complaint from a woman who said her boyfriend had beaten her several times in the past year. They arrested Rickford Pollard, 44, 7626 Pleasant Ave. S., and charged him with domestic assault.School assault - Three students at Richfield Middle School were cited for assault Thursday after an incident at the school Wednesday, Dec. 15, in which another student was beaten up.Theft from vehicles - Police are investigating a car break-in overnight Thursday, Dec. 15, in the 7400 block of 12th Avenue South and another the same night in the 6800 block of Fifth Avenue South. Both cars sustained damage as a result of the break-ins.Drug incidents - A St. Paul woman was issued a citation for possession a small amount of marijuana and released after a traffic stop Friday night at 18th Avenue and 73rd Street. Charges are pending against a person for possession of a crack pipe police found when they woke him up Friday morning in a car parked in the 6800 block of Columbus Avenue South.Car stolen - A guest at Motel 6 in Richfield reported a 2005 Monte Carlo LS Coupe was stolen from the motel parking lot Dec. 17.Snowmobiles stolen - Richfield police are looking for two snowmobiles, a trailer and someone who drove away with all three in broad daylight Wednesday, Dec. 15. The trailer and its cargo were parked in a driveway in the 7200 block of Sheridan Avenue South. Police have no suspects and no witnesses.Burglary - A woman told police someone walked into her unlocked apartment in the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue Tuesday or Wednesday and walked out with about $200 in computer equipment. Domestic assault - Police took a boy to the juvenile detention center after he reportedly assaulted his adult sister Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, at a home in the 7400 block of Penn Avenue South.Theft from vehicle - A purse containing credit cards and $100 cash was taken from inside an unlocked vehicle in the 800 block of 65th Street on Tuesday morning, Dec. 14. Drug paraphernalia - A 20-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia Tuesday night after a traffic stop near the intersection of 73rd Street and Lyndale Avenue South.
School fight - One Richfield student was cited for fifth-degree assault after a fight at Richfield Middle School the morning of Friday, Dec. 10. Both students involved in the fight were suspended from school.Burglary - Police are investigating a burglary in the 6500 block of Emerson Avenue South last month in which video game equipment valued at $600 was taken from a residence. No forced entry was reported.Domestic assault - A 56-year-old Richfield man was arrested Saturday morning, Dec. 11, in the 6900 block of Russell Avenue South after a fight between a stepfather and stepdaughter got physical. The man is accused of strangling the girl. He was charged with domestic assault.Theft - A former employee of Distinctive Cleaners, 1321 66th St. E., is accused of taking computer equipment valued at more than $500. The complaint was filed Dec. 11. No arrests have been made.Smash and grab - A purse and credit cards were taken from a car parked in the Jun Bo parking lot at 7717 Nicollet Avenue South sometime before 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12. The car sustained an unspecified amount of damage in the break-in, according to a police report.
Drug arrests - Richfield police reported four more arrests or citations for marijuana possession this week. Alec Smith, 19, 7445 Clinton Ave. S., was arrested Monday afternoon, Dec. 6, at the intersection of 12th Avenue and 75th Street after a police stop.A juvenile non-student was stopped at Richfield High School on Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, and cited for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia. The person also was issued a citation for trespassing.Jasmin May, 28, 948 Duchess Lane, Apple Vallue, was arrested Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, at Motel 6 on Cedar Avenue.Tina Lewis, 20, 103 Blake Road, Hopkins, was cited in Taft Park on Tuesday night, Dec. 7.
Smash and grab - Police are invesigating two vehicle breakins in the St. Peter's Church parking lot, 6730 Nicollet Ave. S., Tuesday evening, Dec. 7. A laptop computer valued at $2,000 was taken from one car and an empty purse was taken from another between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Windows on both vehicles were damaged by the thief or thieves.
Drug arrests - Marijuana was involved in four separate Richfield police reports Dec. 2-3, including one in a school building at 7145 Harriet Ave. S., where a student was cited for drug possession and suspended from school, and another in the 7400 block of Garfield Avenue South, where parents who discovered a jar of marijuana in a child's room turned the juvenile in to police.
Domestic assaults - Richfield police answered two domestic assault calls over the weekend. The afternoon of Dec. 4, a woman told police her ex-boyfriend was threatening her and destroying clothes in her closet at an apartment in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South. Police arrested Gerard McDonald, 32, 14264 43rd Ave. N., Plymouth, in connection with the incident. Just before midnight on Dec. 4, a woman called police saying she'd been assaulted while holding her infant son at her residence in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South. Arrested in that incident was Dontae Peterson, 23, 7520 15th Ave. S.
Car vandalized - Police responed to a report of vandalism in a parking lot in the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South the afternoon of Dec. 5. Someone had slashed a car's tires and dented its body, doing about $600 damage. No arrests were reported.
Domestic assaults - Richfield police answered two domestic assault calls ealrier this week, one in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South and the other in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue South. A husband was arrested in the second incident.
Drug arrests - Marijuana was involved in five separate Richfield police reports this week. On Monday, Nov. 29, citations for possessing small amounts of marijuana were issued at 66th and Lyndale and in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South, while police arrested a man in the 7700 block of Bloomington Avenue South for a "felony amount" of the drug, according to a police report. Marijuana was also involved in two reports filed Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the 7700 block of Bloomington Avenue and the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue.
Payless Shoes robbed - Richfield police arrested two men, one at gunpoint, after a strong-arm robbery at the Payless Shoes store at 66th and Nicollet about 5 p.m. on Nov. 27. Witnesses said the men told a clerk to open the cash drawer, then fled north. Officers arrested one of the suspects at gunpoint, then found the other after setting up a police perimeter. One of the suspects had $139 in cash when caught, according to a police report. Darien Green, 24, 5812 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, and Climmey Jordon, 41, 819 Fuller, St. Paul, were arrested in connection with the robbery.
Locker thefts - A juvenile suspect was arrested after being caught on camera stealing $800 in cash from a Richfield High School student locker on Nov. 22. Two students who shared the locker set up a camera in an adjacent locker to catch the thief, according to a police report.
More car break-ins - Six more vehicle break-ins were reported during the week of Nov. 22-28 including:- A theft in the 700 block of 78th Street East on Nov. 22 in which stereo equipment valued at $500 was taken.- A break-in and theft in the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue the night of Nov. 22 that resulted in $300 damage and the loss of $300 from a purse.- Damage to one vehicle and damage and theft of another in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South overnight Nov. 22.- An attempted theft from a vehicle parked in an alley in the 6900 block of Upton Avenue South early the morning of Nov. 25.- A break-in in the 6900 block of Vincent Avenue South reported the afternoon of Nov. 25.Police reported no arrests in the incidents.
Car stolen - A woman told police her 1996 Honda Civic disappeared from the parking lot of TCF Bank, 6501 Richfield Parkway, the evening of Nov. 22. Police have no suspects in the case.
Burglaries - Richfield police are investigating a number of break-ins reported the week of Nov. 16-23:- Johnston's Sales and Service at 6433 Penn Ave. S. reported burglars broke glass to gain entry to the store overnight Nov. 17. About $60 in cash was taken and damage was estimated at $1,000.- A man working on a house in the 7500 block of Fourth Avenue South reported tools worth more than $3,000 were taken between Nov. 11 and Nov. 18.- A mini-ATV was stolen from an unlocked shed in the backyard of a home in the 6800 block of Washburn Avenue South on Nov. 19.- About $40 in cash was taken from a residentce in the 7500 block of 18th Avenue South the morning of Nov. 21. A witness saw two juveniles were seen leaving the scene.
Domestic assault - Police arrested an Apple Valley man the evening of Nov. 18 after his girlfriend told police he had threatened her with a box cutter. The woman, who lives in the first block of Pleasant Avenue South, was not injured, according to a police report.
Mugging - A Richfield man was taken to the hospital for stitches after three men assaulted him the night of Nov. 16 and stole his wallet and cell phone, according to police reports. Police arrested a juvenile and two 18 year olds: Shellvante Sandle, 7720 Penn Ave. S., and Darius White, address unknown.
Shoplifting - Richfield police arrested a man Target officials said they suspect of shoplfiting merchandise valued at $3,595 over the past month from the Richfield Target store. Police were called to the store Nov. 16 when employees detained a man they accused of concealing more than $350 worth of CDs. Arrested was Nicholas Teachout, 30, 7001 Dupont Ave. N., Brooklyn Center.
Domestic assault - A Richfield woman was taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital after police were called to investigate a domestic assault the afternoon of Nov. 16. At the same time, they arrested the woman's husband, Adan Abdi, 55, 7533 Sheridan Ave. S., and transported him to the Hennepin County jail.
Camper stolen - A woman told police a camper-trailer was stolen from her driveway in the 6500 block of James Avenue S. sometime between Oct. 25 and Oct. 30. Police have no suspects.Four domestic assault arrests - Richfield police arrested four men in four different domestic assault incidents over the weekend of Nov. 5-7. The incidents were reported in the 7100 block of 18th Avenue South, the 900 block of 77th Street East, the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue South and the 7600 block of 10th Avenue South.
Children sexually assaulted - A man who lives in the 700 block of 78th Street East reported Friday morning that some men he knew had been sexually assulting his young children. The younger of the children are in protective custody while Richfield police investigate.
Attempted burglary - A woman who lives in the 6300 block of Grand Avenue reported a man in a black mask attempted to break into her home about 1 a.m. on Nov. 5. Police attempted to track the suspect with the help of a police dog to a nearby apartment building but were unable to find him. 
Arson at Christian Park - Police and fire units were called to Christian Park at 6900 Bloomington Avenue about 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 after a passerby saw playground equipment in the park on fire. The equipment suffered significant damage.
More smash and grabs - Richfield police are investigating two more reports of thefts from vehicles, bringing to eight the number of similar incidents in the past couple of weeks. On the afternoon of Nov. 1, a woman told police her car window was broken and her purse containing about $20 stolen while it was parked in the St. Peter's Church parking lot in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue. The following night, another car window was smashed and property including a wallet and an iPod were taken from another car parked in the 7700 block of 12th Avenue South. Police have issued an alert warning drivers not to leave valuables in their cars. No arrests have been made.
Parking lot robbery - Police also reported a strong-arm robbery Nov. 1 in the 7400 block of Oliver Avenue South where a man said he was assaulted from behind while working outside on his computer. He said a man who had earlier bummed a cigarette from him came back and attacked him, picking him up and throwing him to the ground before running away with his computer. The victim described the suspect as a black man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing a light-colored coat.
Theft alert - Richfield police have issued an alert warning residents against keeping valuables in their cars after five thefts from vehicles in the past week. Thieves smashed car windows in the parking lots of two Richfield motels overnight Sunday and residents on 7300 block of Girard and the 7100 block of Knox reported belongings stolen from their vehicles last Thursday night. 
Armed robbery - Police searched unsuccessfully for a man who punched and then pulled a knife on another man about 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. The man who was assaulted told police he was standing in front of his house in the 7400 block of Cedar Avenue with his 3-year-old daughter when someone came up behind him and assaulted him. He said he scuffled with the man, who was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a slight build, until the attacker pulled a small knife with a folding blade. He then gave the man his wallet, according to a police report. The robber took money out of the wallet and threw it on the ground. Police conducted an unsuccessful search for the attacker, who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
Robbery - A cleaner at the Hub Shopping Center reported being punched in the face just before 11 p.m. Oct. 21 by a man who then took her credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash.
House siding damaged - Police are looking for a person who did more than $100 worth of damage to a house in the 7200 block of Fourth Avenue about 5 p.m. on Oct. 22.
