The City Council has approved a $2.15 million extension of 76th Street from 12th Avenue to Cedar Avenue, which will complete the west-east portion of the Three Rivers Trail through Richfield.

The project approved by the Council Monday night includes:
- Concrete sidewalk on the south side
- Boulevards and boulevard trees
- Three Rivers Park Regional Trail on north side
- On-street concrete bike lanes
- A two-lane asphalt roadway

At the same time, the council approved a five-year street reconstruction plan that will allow it to issue bonds to pay for major street projects without assessing adjacent homeowners and businesses.

They include:
76th Street East (2012)
Richfield Parkway Connection (2013)
North Richfield Parkway between 63rd and 65th streets (2013-14)
66th Street between Upton Avenue to Richfield Parkway (2015)
Portland Avenue from 62nd to 77th Street (2016)
