Housing plan for 77th and Pillsbury moves ahead

The Richfield City Council has approved a potential tax-increment-financing district and a purchase option agreement for the Pillsbury Commons project being proposed for the old Public Works Maintenace Facility property at 77th and Pillsbury Avenue.

Ron Clark of Ron Clark Construction told the council Tuesday night that his plan includes 70 units of affordable multifamily apartments to be built in an "L" shape on the corner with a parking lot behind. He's seeking funding from the Minnesota Housing Finance agency to build the $12.6 million project.

People who earn $35,000-$50,000 a year would be eligible to rent apartments in Pillsbury Commons if it's built.
